5:30 PM ET - Just moments ago, we learn the medical examiner was notified of a request to cremate Caylee's remains. The approval was given on December 31, but as of today, still no confirmation if this has taken place. In a statement read by her lead attorney, tot mom Casey Anthony revealed Caylee's remains have been cremated. But George and Cindy Anthony's attorney says no. The medical examiner says it's out of their hands and up to the Anthonys and the funeral home as to when the cremation will take place. (From Stacey Newman, Nancy Grace Producer)

Hello Monkeys,

After yesterdays marathon of reading/posting I feel very, very sad today. This is the most down I've felt since Caylee was found.  Yesterday, I felt as cold as ice watching the Ants, not one tear, but today I am crying.  I'm way behind in reading, so guess I'll get back to it.

Thankfully, I know I'm not alone when I'm feeling so sad about all the lost and lonely ones.  God bless you all.

I felt that cold as well yesterday, Foggy.  I almost didn't watch since I thought it would upset me - and it upset me, but not for the reasons I thought it would. 

I'm way behind on reading so scusa if this has already been said ... but IMO I'd say the reason pretty much all of us were sad/mad/disgusted with the memorial - at least the talking part by the family - is that what we wanted from each of them was more of what little bit George gave us about the string beans, Sponge Bob, what she called him, wearing beads, memories of how she smelled, how she looked in the morning... even though he ultimately rather ruined that with his talk of writing to Casey and Kid Finders. 
 
We were hungry to know details about Caylee, wanted desperately to hear her short life honored, and instead what we mainly got was an off-the-wall speech from Lee that we needed a secret spy ring to decode, and a speech from Cindy that was insulting to the max when she said Caylee had Casey's compassionate nature.... the very person who murdered her.  Casey is compassionate? That was so insulting that I can't even remember what else she said. 
 
If you were to ask me to recall memories of my granddaughter (to whom I'm also pretty much a surrogate parent) from the time she was born until she was 3, I could talk for an hour without even stopping to think back.  And if I stopped and thought back, I could go another hour.  That's what we wanted and expected to hear from all of them, their memories of Caylee's three years, but we only got a snippet from George.  I would have even enjoyed it if the preacher had asked them for some memories of Caylee to include in his remarks, but he no doubt thought they were going to take care of that part since they all intended to speak. 
 
Who cares if Casey didn't want a public memorial, and why should she have any say-so over Caylee's remains or what pictures are released - she forfeited any rights to Caylee when she killed her.  It's difficult to get custody of a child away from a mother, but if a parent abandons a living child, they lose their parental rights.  She abandoned Caylee in the most final of ways and she has no rights.
 
Other than Lee, another thing that struck me as odd was at the very end after Cindy sang her solo, George suddenly hop skipped quite awkwardly over there between her and the man singing, but the song & service ended right then.  Wondered if he was going to join in the singing ?

In regards to Caylee's Death Cert - I just chased the Social Security Site for Death's and she is not registered -

I know this site works because I have found information on my own family and the dates are real and match - but Caylee is not found in the Social Security Data base - for a Death Certificate.

Does not matter if she was 2 yrs old - I am sure that Cindy would want her to have a SS number

I agree, now there is this other little five year old in Florida, Hayleigh. And there is a three year old boy in Arkansaw that is missing, and so many others whose parents would love to have coverage.

If the rubber bracelet was contraband then anything is. She couldn't even have her own bible in there which I kind of thought was weird but maybe they just want everyone to have the same kind.

It's amazing how many things that folks (on the outside) use daily are considered 'contraband' inside jails/prisons.  Mainly that's because of how it can be used etc. on the inside.  It's one reason they have a strictly-followed list of what is acceptable for an inmate to receive from someone on the outside. Many things are not allowed to be brought in to the inmate. 

Bibles and other written material IS allowed, but not just dropped off.  They have to be brand new and sent from the actual store to the jail/prison, or can be bought/ordered by the inmate inside.  The reason for this is because drugs and other stuff can be placed inside the bindings/pages and easily snuck in that way. 

Many would be amazed at how easily drugs and other stuff have been snuck in to inmates from the outside.  Even the dots on i's in letters have been found at times to be drugs.  Everything is scrutinized carefully, yet stuff still manages at times to be missed and gets in. 

Inside the jail/prison, anything the inmate has in their possession which is not on their allowed list, is considered to be 'contraband', (even an extra blanket, etc), and the inmate loses points, etc.  Well, this is the way it happens in some states anyway.
