Last Known Person to See Amber Talks
By  TONY SHIN

Updated 10:54 AM PDT, Thu, Jun 11, 2009

In an effort to generate new leads in the missing person's case of Amber Dubois, family members and police authorized a re-enactment of the final moments before Amber disappeared.

A friend of the family portrayed the missing 14 year old as she retraced Amber's steps during the February morning of her disappearance.

Police say it was a typical morning for Amber as she headed to school.

"Amber left the home a little bit before 7 a.m. and headed down Fire Mountain Place," Lt. Bob Benton said.  "Then she walked southbound on Broadway to school."

Lt. Benton says Amber wore a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants as she carried her schoolbooks in a messenger bag. Just before 7:10 a.m., she reached the fence at the northern end of Escondido High School.

"That's when one of two witnesses saw her," Lt. Benton said.

The first witness is a man, who is also Amber's neighbor. He was traveling North on Broadway when he saw Amber walking to school and told police it appeared Amber may have been in a hurry because it looked like she was jogging.

Seconds later, a woman who has known Amber for several years, was taking her son to school when she also saw the 14-year-old girl.

"Basically, I said there's Amber, made notice she was there," Pam Sams said.

Sams is the last known person to have seen Amber before she disappeared. In an exclusive interview, she described what she saw as she passed Amber on Broadway.

"She was just walking with someone, right next to each other," Sams said.  "He was taller than her, dark complexion, dark clothes."

Sams says when she saw Amber and the unknown male, they were only a few hundred yards away from the school entrance.  She says there were a lot of students and parents in the area at the time.

"I'm dumb-founded as to why only two of us saw her, I don't understand that," Sams said.

Investigators say if Amber had made it to the school entrance, she would have been recorded on a surveillance camera that sits on the corner roof of the school gym.

Sams wishes she had looked more closely at the unknown male who was walking with Amber and believes he is the key to solving her disappearance.

"I wasn't really looking for details, I just happened to pass her and I knew it was her because I used to take her to school," Sams said.

Macie Today at 10:50 AM FLAG COMMENT..
May I ask , Pam,why did you stop taking Amber to school???And it is strange that only two people had noticed her that day. Why did her friends warn Amber not to be doing whatever she was doing with her master screen name "wolfintheend"? i would be asking those teenagers who were communicating with her on "My Space" to start telling the truth and who did she upset???What was she saying???

Edit to fix typos

Those comments are little people that do not know anything OR by People that know something ..

There have been many disturbing comments made by the people of Escondido in various news articles over the last 4 months..

I have posted them for reasons of research and hold no opinion.

A Murrieta woman bit off the tongue of an alleged rapist who was arrested at a hospital emergency room where he went for treatment.

Police found the suspect's tongue at the woman's apartment Friday morning. Authorities say the woman had injuries consistent with a violent assault.

Officers say they arrested 32-year-old Ronald McGowan of West Covina, who is a registered sex offender.

Physicians at the Rancho Springs Medical Center could not reattach his tongue.

It only stands to reason that the guy seen walking with Amber Leeann Dubois was associated with the Red/Maroon Pick up..
He must have known her enough to talk with her, or he could have been a Con Artist who knows how to make an approach and when she came close to the red truck her forced her inside.. Then the driver finds a spot to get her under control..

This could be gang related if Amber pissed off somebody in the teen world..

I doubt Amber Leeann Dubois Ran Away from home. I do believe if she had been abused she would have ran to her Aunt or her Grandma or her DAD first before that would happen.
I know I am going out on a limb to make that claim but it is my gut feeling which is usually correct.
Amber was attacked for one reason or another..

I am starting to think GANG related.. That Phone is not the pattern of the Kidnappers from San Bernadino and Redondo Beach, but I can see some immature gang members doing that for sure.

Also ..Even though it is not there normal pattern of behavior there is obviously at least 2 people involved with the red/maroon pick up ..one driver and this guy seen walking with her.
His description by witnesses that had seen him walking with her fits very well with the men involved with the kidnap of the boy in San Bernadino who we had seen on still images walking in the hardware store and on wanted posters now provided by the F.B.I.

So... there ya go.. All of that is just my humble opinion.

Yes there is a way I would think, lets see. Did the people say where she was at when they saw her? One person said she was by the school, what that spot before or after the driveway the truck was seen?

So we have amber walking down the street. 2 people who are familiar with her see her and know it is her. One says a man was walking with her and her steps seem faster. We have a truck seen going into a parking lot on school grounds waiting for 3 minutes and taking off. AT that time there is a bus driver walking to his bus, probably to start a route. He has to document or call in and that time is recorded so the truck time can be documented even if no time stamp.

Now if it was before the drive way the truck is seen, maybe it is a 2 person abduction. One lures and the other is the driver. The man walking is behind her as she is walking, the truck comes out of the driveway, a door opens and the man behind her grabs her and puts her into the truck and the driver takes off away. That would take about 30 sec at most. The traffic from one side would be blocked from her being put into the truck and the other way there may have not been anyone coming.
Did that makes sense?

yes it does.. That man would or should know around what time he was walking out and the white car should have had some idea on when it came into the yard..

I think there was a study done on average time of forced abductions..
I seem to remember 7 seconds..

Thirteen year old escapes attempted abduction

Story Created: Oct 26, 2007 at 12:38 PM PDT

Story Updated: Oct 26, 2007 at 6:29 PM PDT

Police are investigating an attempted abduction at the California Avenue and Stockdale Highway GET bus stop.

It happened Friday morning as the 13 year old girl was on her way to school. She was waiting for the GET bus when a man approached her in his pick up truck. The suspect asked the girl for directions. During the conversation, he got out of his truck, grabbed her arm and told her to get in his pick up. Fortunately, she was able to get away, notify her mother, who then called police.

Police say the incident was reported around 8:40 this morning, after the girl hid out for awhile.

Police aren't releasing what school the girl attends.

This incident is the latest in a series of attempted abductions that have taken place over the past month. Bakersfield police are investigating a possible connection, but have no solid information linking them at this point.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 30's or 40's, 5 feet 9 inches tall, stocky with a shaved head, thick mustache and a tattoo of red lips on his neck. He was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

The suspect was driving a newer model, white truck, possibly a GMC, raised with tinted windows.

If you have any information, you're urged to call BPD 327-71-11.

The composite sketch was also sent out to nearby schools.

We spoke to the principal of Van Horn School, who told us they have not been able to notify parents of this latest incident because they did not receive the composite sketch until after school let out for the day. But he says they are working with the district for further action.

I can not find anymore on this one so do not know if anyone has been arrested since this report.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA / A news summary; Girl Fights Off Abduction; Serial Attacker Suspected

A 16-year-old Bellflower girl who fought off a kidnap attempt Monday evening may have escaped from a sexual predator who abducted three girls in the area recently, authorities said.

The girl was outside her father's store in an alley behind Alondra Boulevard about 7 p.m. Monday when a man grabbed her from behind, covered her mouth with his hand and tried to drag her toward his car, sheriff's investigators' said.

July 22, 2008
Man flees after reported failed abduction attempt
From Art Campos:

Lincoln police are looking for a man with two missing front teeth who allegedly tried to force a female employee at a Raley's gas station into his vehicle.

The attempted kidnapping happened at 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the car wash area behind the station at 725 South Highway 65, police Lt. Terry Kennedy said.

The victim told police she was standing in the car wash area when a white male grabbed her and tried to force her into his maroon Dodge Durango. She managed to break loose and escape, Kennedy said, and the suspect drove away.

Kennedy said another employee was inside the station but could not see what was occurring in the car wash area.

"The victim had gotten caught in a blind spot," he said.

The suspect was described as between 25 and 30 years old, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, about 180 pounds and missing two front teeth. He was wearing dark, baggy clothing.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police at (916) 645-4040.

This Man Tried to Kidnap Girl, Cops Say
Updated 3:31 PM PDT, Thu, Feb 5, 2009

Investigators released a sketch Thursday of a suspect in the attempted kidnapping of an eleven-year-old girl in the Black Mountain Ranch area.

The victim was walking in front of an apartment complex Tuesday at about 4:00 p.m. in the 14000 block of Via Fiesta when the suspect pulled up to the curb next to her and told her to get in his car, police spokesperson Mónica Muñoz said.

"The victim said there was a gun on the dashboard of the suspect’s car. The girl ran to get away from the suspect. The suspect followed the girl in his car but she was able to run to a nearby apartment and call the police," Muñoz said.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 20-30 years old, 5 feet 11 inches, 220 pounds with black hair, and a black goatee. He was wearing a dark blue, short-sleeved shirt. The suspect’s car is a small, older two-door convertible; dark blue with lots of rust spots. The car also has a black convertible top.

Anyone with information concerning this case is asked to contact San Diego Police Department at (619) 531-2000 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers anonymous, toll-free, tip line at (888) 580-8477.

Thank You Northern Rose..

What the hell is going on in south California. If we put every one of these attempted and actual abductions and attacks on a map in the last 4 months it will look like a war zone under attack.

The link to the last map is quite something.  Was it not that area that the young woman who looked exceptionally similar to Amber was attempted abduction?  That was about 2 weeks before if I recall.  I am really wondering if she could be in Mexico now.
