To anyone local:

Can you give me an idea of the terrain of about a 15 Sq. Mi radius of this area?
Topographically I mean, Is it densely wooded, alot of bodies of water, etc? I am trying to gauge the feasability of satellite and aerial imaging.

I just worked on a case where the area has not been shot for whatever reason since 2006, so it was of no help, but I can at least make a call..

Good morning everyone!   I've missed a couple of days and I see monkeys have been hard at work!

I copied & pasted the email but got several returned undeliverable.  Did anyone else have the same problem or is it operator error?

God Bless Amber!

I just read in another thread that because of the holiday weekend their inboxes could be full.  Must be all the monkey emails...I will try again on Tuesday.  Squeaky wheel gets the grease!

 Crime History..

ESCONDIDO-----The body of an Escondido mother of four missing since Dec. 13 has been found at an Escondido park, Escondido police said.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner's office has positively identified the dead woman as Martha Lopez Perez, 43, Escondido police spokesman Lt. Bob Benton said.

A mountain biker found Perez's body on Saturday morning in a remote, brushy area of Jesmond Dene Park, in the northwest part the city, Benton said. Out of concern for Perez's family and loved ones, Escondido police kept the body's discovery quiet until it could be identified, he said.

Police are calling Perez's death suspicious but have not determined that she was murdered, Benton said. Her body was found in the same clothes she was wearing on Dec. 13, when she was last seen shopping in an AMVETS thrift store on East Valley Parkway, Benton said. The clothes and the body's condition indicate that Perez likely died around the same time she disappeared, Benton said.

Perez's manner of death was not immediately obvious from the condition of her body, Benton said, and the Medical Examiner's Office has not yet determined a cause of death.

Perez is originally from Chiapas, Mexico, and had lived in the U.S. for at least 16 years, her boyfriend of 10-years, Anselmo Hernandez, 32, said in January. He said she had four children, two in Atlanta and two who lived with the couple in Escondido. Benton said Perez was a legal U.S. resident.

Police have been investigating Perez's disappearance since Hernandez reported her missing the night of Dec. 13 but have few clues about what happened to her, Benton said. Anyone with any information about her disappearance or who saw anything suspicious in the Jesmond Dene Park area in December is asked to call either Detective John O'Donnell at (760) 839-4756, or Detective Miguel Ramirez at (760) 839-4925. Callers can leave anonymous information at (760) 743-TIPS.

news reader report from the above artcle ...

Please help to solve this case
[-] wrote on Feb 17, 2008 12:59 PM: Perez was dropped off at the AMVETS store at 10:30AM. Video surveillance showed her leaving AMVETS at 2;30PM with several bags, therefore she would have needed a ride home. Four hours of shopping for the purpose of resale would indicate that she made substantial purchases. Where are the items she purchased? her wallet and purse?. It is not uncommon for swap meet sellers to carry large sums of cash particularly when they are in buying mode. Does the surveillance camera show who was standing behind her in the check-out line? Would she have called her friend to pick her up from inside the store or did she intend to place the call from a public phone once outside?. Either way a MURDERER who possibly stakes out his/her victims is at large. To be victimized while in the process of earning a living by someone who kills for a living is unthinkable.

history.. crime
january 2007
14 year old girl from Escondido, CA (Kristina “Kristen” Smith) is missing. It is feared that they was lured away by a man that she met on the internet.
Police said her parents stopped her on Friday from taking a cab from her suburban North County home to a Motel 6 on Pacific Highway near Old Town in San Diego to meet a man she met on the Web, according to the newspaper.

Sunday morning, the parents found the girl missing when they went to wake her at 9:30, according to the Union-Tribune.

The teen had apparently been chatting online with 34-year-old Charles Crowell who is now facing rape charges.

Police say Crowell met the teen at an Embarcadero motel on Sunday, and they flew together to South Dakota.

The girl’s parents are outraged that a married man, with a daughter of his own, could prey on their child.

Charles Leroy Crowell Description:

bald
300 pounds
5 feet 7 inches

Escondido police say Smith was found by authorities who were staking out the Sioux Falls home of Charles Crowell. He had checked into the motel Smith tried to visit and left yesterday.

Police say Crowell may face charges ranging from child endangerment to kidnapping.

Red recorded the crime..
We can now see WHY police would consider this as possible.

question:
does amber like to write stories? and has any info about that been released to the public?

Yes, Amber is an excellent writer.  She is extremely intelligent and wildly creative.  I believe it was - but didn't draw much attention.

do you know if this info about her writing has been made public; did this come out in the news?  or was it talked about by family on the net?  do you know?
the reason I ask, is I found something where someone is saying she likes to write stories and they believe she was writing stories on the net at a site.  It just struck me a little strange.

DD - nice pull - btw

sorry if that's inappropriate in any way

I have no idea what you mean, but I don't believe "anything" is inappropriate when trying to figure out what is going on with a missing person's case when people are trying to brainstorm, etc.  I certainly would not take anything you say as inappropriate, I figure it is just part of the "thinking" going on.  But if I understood what you mean, I might know how to respond better

oh nevermind, I had incorrectly read your response, thinking you meant draw and in artwork, gee, where is my brain today.

well, somene picked up on that she writes stories, I am trying to find anyone talking about her on the net.  I find some of the comments to news etc on the net very strange, as I know you and others have also wondered if someone were posting things to throw people off.

is there any specific person anyone needs info on?

LE keeps referring to the "tall, thin, dark skinned boy" that Amber may have last been seen with while walking to school - to my knowledge - no sketch has been provided to media or anyone else - certainly not family.

if no one knows who this dark-skinned boy might be, he must not be from the very near area and must not hang out with any of the kids in the area.  If he really does exist and he was "walking", then how did he get there?  I am just kind of "talking outloud"(I do this a lot as it might jog a thought with someone else).  So did he have a ride from someone? or did he ride the bus there?  did he have a car but had it parked elsewhere?  pretty early in the morning for him to be out there around the school walking in the rain. For what reason? It does not really make sense.  And things which do not make sense on the surface will usually have some underlying reason that will make perfect sense if you can figure out what it is.

Did anyone mention what the boy was wearing?  how long was his hair?
did anyone ask bus drivers if they saw a tall dark-skinned boy on a bus that day who would have got off in that area?

how much has anyone looked around the Valley Center-Pauma Valley area?  Were flyers put up out there?  Has anyone talked to the federal marshall about this area? Has notice of the reward been plastered around this area?

The only thing we have on the ping so far is north Escondido. It really would be good to nail it down.

The red truck could be a stolen vehicle and a stolen vehicle list from San Diego to San bernadino would be a nice asset to own.

Further to the "ping"  It is evidently called the North County Tower - can there only be one?  Can it be narrowed down from there?  [please let it be so] an angelic monkey

A lot of the phone companies share the same towers .  Here is a map.  Who is the carrier?

I do not have it, ampersand will have to find it

Sorry if you all have already done this - I'm just catching up on reading now and answering as I go - my internet access at home is very frustrating - it works when it wants to - long story.

Check this link - Escondido has several:
