My sweet daughter and I went with a small search group this morning in an area north of escondido. We did't come across anything but maybe that area could be eliminated. They are wonderful people voluteering at the Bring Amber Home center but as Ampersand has said, if only there could be some renewed interest nationally and locally as well, it mifgt help to bring in some more volunteers and searchers.
It was rough terrain and being the rookies, sometimes I think we were more afraid of running into a rattle snake than keeping our focus on searching! We both promised to do better next week. It was our first time at it and afterward it was ticks that were freaking us out. Absolutely, my admiration for Tim Miller and all voluteers has skyrocketed.
As always, let's bring Amber home.
That is awesome Mizjay and sweet daughter. Thank you for your efforts. I live close to Tracy and my sweet daughters were planning on attending a search for Sandra Cantu, but sadly there was no need. Thanks to people like you things get done!

FYI: Thank you for participating. Amber's great grand mom was from SC. We have family there and many of their SC churches are listed on Amber's website [BringAmberHome.com] in prayers for her. I lived in S.C. as a child with my grandparents on a little farm in Jedburg (after having been previously kidnapped in Florida) so SC remains close to my heart as a place of love and safety. AmbersGrandmom
Ambers grandmom We felt proud to be there and wished we had been helping sooner. Such a small world, my mother was born and raised in Columbia, SC. My fondest childhood memories were spending the entire summers there and at Paulys Island.
My heart goes out to you regarding your own experience as a child, the love that your family surrounded you with must make you determined that Amber could have the same healing and strength when found. Keep up with the fight and I hope the Lord gives you all the peace and rest at night so that each morning you can have enthusiasm to continue. I pray for Amber's return and swift punishment for the creton that has done this.

I usually get posts all screwed up ,so in my bubbleheaded fashion I thought I'd mentioned something at some random point about SC!! It still doesn't change the fact that it is a small world!

The only thing we have on the ping so far is north Escondido. It really would be good to nail it down.
The red truck could be a stolen vehicle and a stolen vehicle list from San Diego to San bernadino would be a nice asset to own.
Further to the "ping" It is evidently called the North County Tower - can there only be one? Can it be narrowed down from there? [please let it be so]
A lot of the phone companies share the same towers . Here is a map. Who is the carrier?
http://www.celltowerinfo.com/picts/Cell%20Tower%20Location%20Map-%20California%20.jpg
Verizon
Thank you so much. Sadly there are no dedicated Verizon towers in Escondido. There are 11 registered towers which means Verizon pays to lease to use existing towers. I saw that you also gave a link to zip codes. I am not familiar with the area so I still need to know what "north" means.
Attached is a map with cell tower locations. There is one more in Temecula that I felt may be too far north so is not in on the map. If I am wrong please let me know. If you can let me know which one(s) may be in the correct area I can do maps of coverage area as well as answer Blink's question about + and - on each tower.
Lastly Klaas has sent you my email. Please feel free to use it in regards to the web link last night.

Crime History..
ESCONDIDO-----The body of an Escondido mother of four missing since Dec. 13 has been found at an Escondido park, Escondido police said.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner's office has positively identified the dead woman as Martha Lopez Perez, 43, Escondido police spokesman Lt. Bob Benton said.
A mountain biker found Perez's body on Saturday morning in
a remote, brushy area of Jesmond Dene Park
, in the northwest part the city, Benton said. Out of concern for Perez's family and loved ones, Escondido police kept the body's discovery quiet until it could be identified, he said.
Police are calling Perez's death suspicious but have not determined that she was murdered, Benton said. Her body was found in the same clothes she was wearing on Dec. 13, when she was last seen shopping in an AMVETS thrift store on East Valley Parkway, Benton said. The clothes and the body's condition indicate that Perez likely died around the same time she disappeared, Benton said.
Perez's manner of death was not immediately obvious from the condition of her body, Benton said, and the Medical Examiner's Office has not yet determined a cause of death.
Perez is originally from Chiapas, Mexico, and had lived in the U.S. for at least 16 years, her boyfriend of 10-years, Anselmo Hernandez, 32, said in January. He said she had four children, two in Atlanta and two who lived with the couple in Escondido. Benton said Perez was a legal U.S. resident.
Police have been investigating Perez's disappearance since Hernandez reported her missing the night of Dec. 13 but have few clues about what happened to her, Benton said. Anyone with any information about her disappearance or who saw anything suspicious in the Jesmond Dene Park area in December is asked to call either Detective John O'Donnell at (760) 839-4756, or Detective Miguel Ramirez at (760) 839-4925. Callers can leave anonymous information at (760) 743-TIPS.

Jesmond Dene Park is minutes from where Amber was last seen - it is my "understanding" that the park was "thoroughly" searched - the fact remains - it's a very large park.
lets consider that if it is the same person, that he again uses a park, but another park instead. then look at the person that made a post on a news article.. he also would not want to drive in front of the school.. so he heads out the opposite direction to the north.. then consider the parks in that direction.. they all need to be searched.. if amber is alive how far can he make her walk, if she is not alive she will not be to far from a parking position, which will be out of immediate view..
just a thought.

Thanks NR I'm not at all clear on why there isn't more detail from LE regarding the cell tower, but it looks to me like north Escondido might be zips 92082 or maybe 92029 It's such a big area I'm awed at your mapping

Longs and Lats are my friends
. I will see what I come up with for those two zips. From the terrain pictures you put up I am guessing that the area would have dead spots as well as areas that would drop calls.

I think you and your daughter are absolutely wonderful for stepping up like that. Especially if you are not used to walking in wilderness.
please be careful.

Thanks Edward compared to the effort others do on a daily basis in here and out the world it was nothing, but we want to help. My daughter has 2 boys and is always reminded everytime another abduction occurs that it could and does happen to anyone. We both said that if it happened to our family we would hope that people would try to be there for us.

The frustrating thing, with your comments (EDWARD) about a possible park connection is that there are several big parks. Kit Carsen Park is not far, the one where the woman was found, Lake Wolford and up in that valley center area its all very remote but with a lot of accessible roads that wander back in the terrain. There are also a couple of casinos up that way which is another place ppl. may work a night shift and be familiar with the out of the way spots however it still leaves open the question, why Amber? Why at her school?

Hello everyone, I just returned home and trying to catch up. If I can ask, did anyone one find out who the tall skinny boy was? would someone mind bumping the post about it? I can't seem to find it.
MizJay, searching is hard work both pysically and mentally. I wish I was closer, i would join you all.

why Amber and why the school can't be answered at this time. endless loop questions.
parks are easy.. what is worse is the vast amount of vacant land.
what i have noticed about people that murder is this, they are lazy. they look for opportunity and then they look for isolated spots to dispose, but they want to drive to the isolated spot.
the woman who was murdered in the park was probably walked alive to the isolated spot she was murdered at.

A random long shot about the boy, wonder if Amber ever wrote any animal/wolf related articles in the school paper and it struck a chord with a person who lived in the reservation (indian) areas/
Wonder if anyone has ever looked at video from nearby gas/ corner markets to see if the red truck may have been seen, it's probably too much time past now but?
Wonder if anyone checked for red truck connection with any of the bus drivers? disgruntled employees/ angry boyfriends

IA if she was targeted a connection might surface but if it was opportunistic parks are a likely place. it's not unusual for a vehicle to be parked and unoccupied, with the perp just out of sight.
The vast undeveloped area is huge but seems like the person would have to be somewhat familiar, they'd surely see the need to be aware if it's someones ranch. or farm property and whether or not there would be regular activity on the road. Or maybe when the demons that drive them take over they just don't care, but I think even those demons think it thru a little, so they don't get surprised.

Narrowing down cell phone coverage area is not going to be easy with just a zipcode. I will need something to narrow it down more. The issue is though there are only 11 registered towers, that area is riddled with unregistered towers, none of either type are dedicated to Verizon. I either need to know which towers they lease bandwidth from in the north area, or a better description of what "north" is. Here is my issue. I choose a address fairly central in the 92082 zip area. I then did a 4 mile radius search for towers. I got 6 towers, 1 FCC registered, 5 not. I know the height, strength, and distance of all towers. The piece that is missing is which one does Verizon lease bandwith from to get their coverage so that I can map it?

One last note on this scenario, the above last known place that the woman was seen was on east valley parkway, if she was taken from that immediate area, the address of the Amvets store is toward the end of "town" just a little past there leads to several miles of sparsely populated area, another lake type place, dirt roads etc. Instead she was taken a completely different part of town, much more populated, a more conventional park sort of, strikes me as the perpetrators comfort zone.

NORTHERNROSE That's incredible work. I'm clueless about what they meant or any of that but when you get a chance could you try 92026? Just for the fact that it is where that other woman was found at jesmond dene park
