Casey Anthony case: "She should not be in jail," lawyer tells WKMG

"It seems like this case could be the next trial of the century," WKMG-Channel 6 anchor Jacqueline London said.

"This is the O.J. [Simpson] case of this decade," reporter Adam Longo replied.

WKMG certainly grabbed the attention by setting up its 11 p.m. Wednesday coverage of the Casey Anthony case. Longo profiled Todd Macaluso, the eighth lawyer to join Anthony's case.

There were some intriguing quotes. "The evidence is going to be very, very surprising to a lot of people in this community," Macaluso said.

And this: "She should not be in jail right now," Macaluso said.

What do you make of that?

The attorney's bio says he has a 92 percent win rate in jury cases. He derided the state for not having evidence in the Anthony case. "I'm confident we can win this case," Macaluso told Longo. Macaluso expects the trial to last four to six weeks.

Too bad for him, Casey will be in that 8% that he loses! Wonder what kind of cases those were?

Have you guys seen this?  I am a little stunned.

WKMG-Channel 6 will offer an exclusive interview with Todd Macaluso, Casey Anthony's new attorney, at 11 tonight.

"From a total investigation of this case, I've concluded she's innocent," Macaluso tells reporter Adam Longo. "I've concluded that she is innocent," Macaluso repeats.

Macaluso describes himself as an expert on technical matters and also tells Longo: "The prosecution has no evidence in this case. The only evidence in this case that is called evidence is information that's been leaked out to the public by sources close to the investigation, by sources involved in the investigation. And there's been a lot of misinformation."

Casey Anthony is accused of the first-degree murder of her daughter Caylee.

Anchor Jacqueline London called Macaluso "this California power attorney" and hinted that some of the defense team's strategy "between now and the trial just might knock you off your couch."

I'm not sure I can take that.

WKMG also studied that note that George Anthony left when he attempted to take his life. His attorney, Brad Conway, is fighting the state's release of the note, saying the personal comments could be embarrassing to the family and have no relevance to Casey's case.

In the note, George Anthony talks about wanting to buy a gun to teach Casey's friends a lesson, defends Casey's innocence and says Cindy deserves a better husband, Mike DeForest reported. His attorney says George is still frail after the ordeal, DeForest said.
http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/entertainment_tv_tvblog/2009/03/casey-anthony-case-want-a-good-look-at-the-new-attorney.html

George did buy a gun, remember?   He bought a gun at the end of August claiming that he wanted to protect his family from threats.   LE showed up one evening (watched on that ever annoying fox webcam) and confiscated the gun found concealed in George's car in the wheel well.  Ya know this family is so screwed up - isnt it funny how George seems to think that he needs to teach his daughter's friends a lesson yet him & Cindy arent making Casey face what she has done for years.  No one held a gun to Casey's head to steal from her parents, grandparents, screw half of Orlando, steal from her BFF, kill her daughter...God knows what else

Could be - but I thought ZG's lawsuit is only for $15,000.    Maybe I'm wrong???    ZG deserves more, imo.
[/quote]

I dunno law but, I believe the $15,000, is a starting point, so the case will be heard in the right court.  The jury awards funds for all damages.  Therefore, the $15,000 is a starting point.  Yes, I agree.  It is way too little compared to having her and her childrens lives messed up.  ~smiles~ IMHO

Good Morning All,

It is a little early for me, to be up, but wanted to be seated and sorta alive if there is a document release.

As to why Casey would not answer the question regarding whether or not this is the ZG who was her "nanny":

Could it be that IF she said, "Of course it isn't." Then ZG wins her case hands down and JB and Casey (and the rest of that screwy bunch) are afraid ZG would be awarded any and all funds Casey may be bringing in by selling little Caylees memory.  That would scare the crappola outta them. They are banking on those funds, now and in the future.  IMHO

Forgive me, if that sounds kinda muddled.  Need COFFEE!

A.

Could be - but I thought ZG's lawsuit is only for $15,000.    Maybe I'm wrong???    ZG deserves more, imo.

I get very confused by this ZG lawsuit...if KC says (officially under oath) this isn't the ZG I described...then I don't see how ZG would get any money? She would have her name cleared..that would be the "winning hands down" effect but the only way I can see her getting money is to sue the employer who wouldn't hire her or caused her to "lose her job" or the news media that labeled her as "The Zanny" or some other....I don't know

Lee Anthony gets to the deposition and

proceeds to laugh giggle and lie his way

through. He tries to explain Casey's lies and Cindy's

timeline problems,

"At the time she said -- she, Casey never

gave
24 a date to me. She always said 31 days

specifically, 31
25 days. My mother said June 9th. She was

wrong. It was
1 actually June 15th. My sister ended up

saying June 9ing
2 because she heard my mom say it probably

50 times that
3 night. So that is why it just ran

together. But even
4 on a calendar, you can go back and you

count 31 days,
5 and it was the 15th of June.
6 Q Your mom at one time said the last time

that
7 anyone saw Caylee was June 9th.
8 A Yeah. She was mistaken on that. For a

good
9 like week or two she was wrong on that

date."

He says he moved back in with Cindy and

George because his lease was up and his

parents need help financially.  He then

says it is POSSIBLE that ABC gave Cindy and

George $200,000 for picture licensing

rights. He says he believes what she says,
"13 Q Right if I -- right. You stated in

the very
14 beginning of this deposition that you

believe everything
15 your sister has told you. Do you

remember saying that?
16 A Yes.
17 Q Okay. So you believed and you believe

today,
18 the story of the abduction in plan

charred park?
19 A I have to.
20 Q Well that's, that's not -- I

understand but
21 less not -- we can't quarrel over words

because this is
22 very important?
23 A Right.
24 Q This is very important?
25 A I believe there's more to every story

but do I
114
1 believe that there's some -- there is --

there is a
2 truth in that story so in that respect, I

believe that
3 story.

He then says she lied about going to

Jacksonville and was in Orlando that night

he went looking for her.
He says she told him Zaney grabbed her arm

and took Caylee while meeting at Blanchard

park but never told the police that story.

He says Casey LET Zaney and her sister take

Caylee as a "lesson".
"Casey's explanation on why Caylee would

have
18 been taken was to the extent of that

Zenaida didn't
19 think that Caylee should have been with

Casey, for
20 whatever reason, and that she was --

that she was taking
21 Caylee from her for a period of time to

teach her a
22 lesson. I do remember that for sure --"

IMO this is the lesson CINDY was going to

give Casey by taking Caylee away from her,

Casey spins it to Zanny.

He was asked who the father is,
"11 Q Do you know who the father of Caylee?
12 A I don't know that 100 percent.And

that's why I was asking that
18 question, never to be offensive, but

that there could be
19 someone else out there.
20 A In all due respect, you -- you're not

going to
21 be -- you're not going to find that

answer from me. I
22 would have kicked that door down a long

time ago myself."

He was asked about Cindy and Casey

fighting, hers a lie,
"12 Q Your mom and your sister were

fighting about
13 something?
14 A They were obviously not agreeing about
15 something, you know, if -- I would

deducing my sister
16 hadn't been home. That's my mind set.

So.
17 Q Can your -- when you were talking to

your mom,
18 did she ever tell you why Casey left the

house?
19 A No, even to this day my mother has no
20 knowledge of why Casey would have been

prompted to go,
21 if she was prompted to go or, or what.

That's still a
22 mystery.
23 Q So to this day, your mother's never

told you
24 here's why I think she left the house?
25 A No, I don't think my mom knows at

least that
1 she's relayed to me anyway.
2 Q Now, when you -- when you finally got

to meet
3 with Casey later, did she ever tell you

why she left the
4 house?
5 A No.
2 Q Had you ever heard -- did your mother

ever
3 threaten to go to court and try to take

custody of
4 Caylee from Casey?
5 A Not to my knowledge.
6 Q Have you ever heard that?
7 A After the fact?
8 Q Yes."

Here is what he says about telling Cindy

the Blanchard Park kidnap story,
24 Q How do they -- did you tell them --

who told
25 your family about the Blanchard Park

story?
118
1 A I told my mom.
2 Q What did she say?
3 A She was kind of taking at all in.
4 Q Did she say she's lying?
5 A No she never.
6 Q What did he say?
7 A She actually never game a reaction to

anything
8 particular to that story.
9 Q When you told your mother about

Blanchard
10 Park, when did you tell your mother?
11 A Probably later on that evening or that

first
12 thing that next morning, like the next

opportunity that
13 I would have will to see or talk to her

about.
14 Q Did you tell your mom and dad

together?
15 A No I just told my mom.
16 Q What was her reaction?
17 A You know, she kind of was just taking

the
18 information. When me think I'm trying to

make sure
19 that.

"There's nothing you could hold over my

head for, for my niece.
11 I've said multiple times I will trade

places with
12 anybody. I'd die right here for her."

In my opinion Cindy is the BOSS. She is a

manipulation specialist.
Lee is the FATHER of Caylee. Cindy knows

this.
When this comes out at trial Casey will be

portrayed as the VICTIM.
She might only get 7-10 years for depraved

indifference to life!!! (I hope not)

Hmmm, so what could this defense we have never heard before be??? We've already heard -- nanny, "if" it were accidental overdose, blame Jesse, Amy, etc.

So what have we NOT heard form the defense -- IMO someone in the Anthony family will get thrown under the Casey bus o' terror.

What do you monkeys think?

Well I for one am not going to worry about it..

OK Someone please tell me it is NOT possible for her to get out on bail!!!!  The defense changes their stories flipping back and forth more than Casey changed sex partners.  I see a pattern here, and NO WAY should they allow her out!  She is a flight risk, a death risk, and a chaos starter!!!
My blood is boiling!!!
Caylee was not given a chance no way in hell that piece of sh!t deserves one...hell she does not even deserve the trail she is getting.

My understanding is that she is not eligible to even ask for bail because of the charge. But I could be wrong - it happened once . . .

New attorney releases new statement that will knock your socks off, flip your wig, whiten your teeth and generally shock you:

"First of all, look at me. I am brilliant. I won 502 percent of my cases the last quarter of the year before the last one before that. Right. You follow? I am confident that we will win this case because I am so damn smart. Now, don't get me wrong. Casey is guilty as hell. But again, I am the best lawyer within a 1 foot radius and I know what I'm talking about. Now, let's get this ho on the road. Umm. Show."

I really think Todd is FOS and not familiar at all with Florida law.

Lisa
I agree.  The information he is referring to as being "leaked" is actually the document releasing of the Prosecution by way of the Florida Sunshine Law.  I am not sure if they have that in California or not.  (Would'nt think so)
He needs to take a look at the laws he is dealing with here within our state, as I am sure that Baez has not filled him in completely, hell I do not think that Baez is capable of understand the law himself..he is not very bright!!  (And only been at this for 3 years)
He can bring in his circus all he wants, but this cow and pony show is ran by our Florida Judicial system and they need to step back and bow down before they get their asses handed back to them a la Strickland.
