Here's some interesting news:

John goes to Aruba on Wednesday.

Was that when he went to the Mansur wedding while he was there?

We show Petrobas having talks in Aruba sometime in June, but I don't have links for it...

Lifesong, look at the dates and compare them to what was taking place with the search.

Take-over purchase refinery by Petrobras a done deal

December 27,  2007
ORANJESTAD -- Valero Energy Corporation and Petrobras have reached an agreement on the take-over purchase of the refinery in San Nicolas.  The ‘outline agreement’ is signed, even though they are still negotiating almost all the details.

This news comes from a very reliable source that mentions that the take-over purchase is a done deal.  There is no longer a joint venture between Valero and Petrobras; the entire refinery is being sold to the Brazilian semi state-owned company.   The outline agreement for the take-over purchase was signed right before Christmas.  What this is going to mean for the employment and the development of the earnings of the employees of the refinery, is therefore not clear yet.

We also do not know yet whether there will be conditions set for the environmental accomplishments of the company, which products Petrobras is going to refine, and for which markets.  Can Petrobras expect a ‘tax holiday’; will the government set conditions; will the government ask for guarantees with regard to the personnel?

pokesperson David Smith of Valero cannot confirm the signing of the outline agreement for the take-over purchase.  “I have no information on this and Valero Aruba is not informed of the signing of a contract.”

Posts: 287   Good new about Aruba electricity and water!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally...

"...As respond on the increasing oil prices and its negative consequences for our island, the government has decided to import gas from Colombia. The electricity supply can be altered to use natural gas instead of fuel oil for an estimate of 20 millions. The production of electricity and water becomes 40 percent cheaper because of this, said Premier Nelson Oduber yesterday. “Besides, it’s going to be cleaner..."

The premier of Aruba made these comments during a press conference yesterday. He is just back from a working visit in Colombia. This is an historic moment, said Oduber.

The premier says that altering the WEB to use natural gas instead of fuel oil must be possible in one year. WEB will take care of the costs, about 20 millions. The natural gas will have to be transported by ship in the beginning, but the construction of a pipeline must be considered on the medium- and long run. This pipeline will have to run via Venezuela to our island. Oduber thinks that this may take about 3 years. Apart from using the gas for the production of electricity and water, it can also be used for cars and in the houses. Oduber does not abandon the thoughts of other alternatives like wind- and sun energy, but these can only supply the island with a limited amount of electricity and water.

Mumbai (12/12/2007) - Mr. Nelson Oduber, Prime Minister of the island nation of Aruba, an autonomous state in the Kingdom of Netherlands, has invited Indian businessmen, investors and tourists to his country.

Mr. Oduber addressed an interactive meeting organised in his honour at Hotel Hilton Towers, Mumbai by the Indian Merchants' Chamber on December 12. The Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr. Hans Ramaker, introduced Mr. Oduber and other Ministers and officials of his delegation.

Welcoming the distinguished guests, IMC President Mr. Niraj Bajaj complimented Prime Minister Mr. Oduber for leading his country to prosperity in the past 18 years of his office. “With a per capita income of over $28,000, the nation of Aruba has few parallels in the world,” he said.

Prime Minister Mr. Oduber said that the population of Aruba – a 70 sq. mile island – was around 60,000 in 1986 and had now risen to well over 120,000. “Our tiny country with its beautiful beaches attracts over two million tourists annually,” he said.

Mr Oduber said that he aimed to make his country “Dubai of the Caribbean and Gateway of Latin America.”

As such, the 19.6 mile long, 6 mile wide island nation had built three major ports, an international airport which could take large aircraft and exclusive airport for private aircrafts, a free trade zone, top class educational, healthcare and hotel facilities and all such modern infrastructure.

Mr. Oduber invited Indian businessmen to set up bases in the Free Trade Zone of his country, add value to their products and re-export them to the US, Latin American and European countries.

Mr. Oduber said his country had its own central banking system, Parliamentary form of governance and an independent judiciary. Aruban island nation, situated off the coast of Venezuela in South America, was engaged in its coastal waters for offshore drilling for oil and was hopeful of finding rich deposits as in Venezuela and Columbia.

Though the backbone of Aruban economy was tourism, it was also a major base for refining and exporting oil. In addition, Aruba also exported huge quantity of coffee, rice, sugar and whiskey to Europe and other western countries.

The invitation by IMC President Bajaj to visit Mumbai was presented to H.E. the Prime Minister in June by Mr Dinesh N. Joshi, Vice-Chairman of the IMC Infrastructure Committee and Indian partner of InCar Group.

Aruba delegation in New Delhi
The Indian visit of H.E. Prime Minister Nelson Oduber of Aruba, facilitated in part by InCar Consultancy and its partner Dinesh N. Joshi, commenced in New Delhi. The Aruban delegation presented to a select group of business leaders and journalists what the island has to offer Indian companies. The presentation garnered substantial media attention:

Aruba offers to act as India's trade link to LatAm

(Financial Express) New Delhi, December 10 - The tiny south Caribbean island territory, Aruba has offered itself to be the base for India's trade links with Latin American countries.

Aruba also invited Indian airlines to set up their bases in Aruba and gain in terms of easy connectivity to Latin American countries.

With a population of around 100,000, Aruba has per capita income of $22,000. Aruba is an autonomous part of the Kingdom of Netherlands.

The wave of economic liberalization and growth is literally sweeping across the globe and Aruba is no exception. The visiting Prime Minister of Aruba, Nelson Oduber today showcased the potential of his island territory and invited Indian businessmen to invest.

Speaking at a luncheon meet, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), here on Monday, Oduber said, "Aruba can act as India's hub and gateway to Latin America and provide logistics for transport services We are ready to provide traffic right to Indian airlines."

Highlighting the strategic location of the island nation, Oduber invited Indian airline Companies to set up base in Aruba and gain in terms of easy connectivity to Latin American countries. "The airline industry in India is growing exponentially. It is expected that the Indian Companies will place big orders for aircraft next year. Aruba has a well-developed financial system and mature institutions. Apart from providing a strategic hub to Indian airline Companies, we can also take care of their financial needs," he said.

He also offered Indian Companies certificate of origin on safeguard tariffs. He said, "Aruba has free trade zones which offer ideal business climate. Businessmen can also save as we tax only 2% of the profit."

Making a strong pitch for high-value, low-volume industries like pharmaceuticals and information technology, Oduber said. "Companies from these sectors can capitalize from Aruba's strategic location and sound logistic infrastructure."

The Aruba Prime Minister also invited tourists from India. He said his country has 8,000 hotel rooms with tourist inflow of around 1,000,000 per year. The small island nation offers a wealth of natural resources and scintillating landscape.

Aruba offers Indian cos easier access to US, EU

(Economic Times) New Delhi, 10 December - Aruba, an island in the Caribbean sea with access to the European Union and US markets, today said it could act as a logistics centre for Indian companies looking to tap those regions.

"We want to make Aruba a logistics centre for the Indian companies. We have the necessary infrastructure and an agreement for duty free movement of goods to the US and the EU markets," Aruba's Prime Minister Nelson Oduber told reporters here.

Citing an example, he said Aruba imports sugar and ethanol from Brazil, adds value to the products and moves them duty free to the US and the EU.

"We are in contact with many Indian companies from the sectors of infrastructure, energy, pharmaceutical, information technology and aviation," he revealed but refused to divulge their names.

Oduber said he would meet businessmen from the aviation industry tomorrow in Mumbai.

The Prime Minister invited corporate India to set up shop in the country's upcoming Free Zone. "If you register in the Free Zone, you would be liable to pay only two per cent tax on profits and zero import duty," he said.

Also, the country is expected to float an open tender next year for exploring its natural resources such as oil and gas, in which it is expecting the Indian industry to participate.

January 27, 2006
HarryTho 1/27 Natalee Holloway Commentary
Topics: Natalee Holloway

Given the paucity of the news concerning the Natalee Holloway disappearance, this evening, I felt I would revisit our old friend Hushang Ansary. We should note that the HarryTho coverage will vacation over the weekend, unless some startling news develops. Next update should be Monday evening 29 January 2006.

In a prior editorial, we discussed the oil and financial industry resume of Hushang Ansary. We mentioned Ansary's Parman Capital Corporation of Houston, TX bought controlling interest in the Banco de Carib, a US $500 Million asset bank, in the Netherlands Antilles. We outlined Ansary's recent acquisitions and mergers that provided him controlling interest in the most advanced oil drilling equipment manufacturing company and the largest oil company in the world. Additionally, we pointed out a prize oil refinery on Curacao. Though this refinery was not included in any publication as an interests to Ansary, we sweetened the narrative with reasons why the Isla Refinery on Curacao would be an attractive acquisition.

A review of our three editorials from 27-29 December 2005 may be helpful in order to reacquaint oneself with activities of Hushang Ansary.

HarryTho 12/29 Natalee Holloway Commentary

HarryTho 12/28 Natalee Holloway Commentary

HarryTho 12/27 Natalee Holloway Commentary #comments

Much to our surprise, the Aruban government, seemingly unconnected to any of Ansary's intentions, suddenly and clandestinely, created a government oil company in parliament. Many elected officials in parliament were stunned by the sudden tabling of such a proposition. Yet, in one session, Aruba became from devoid of any oil interests into a country awarding concessions for oil and gas exploration. And, in parliament, it was revealed, for the first time, that some seven "secret" inquiries were in hand, requesting oil and gas exploration permits off the shores of Aruba.

Search for oil and gas resumed

ARUBA - The Parliament had authorized the government to found the Aruban oil company, Compania Arubiano di Petroleo (CAP). The idea is that this public enterprise negotiates with companies that want a concession for the search for oil and gas in the Aruban territorial waters. "Seven companies have already shown interest in the search for oil and gas in the past four years", told Prime Minister Nelson Oduber (MEP) the Parliament.

"Oduber didn't want to reveal the names of the companies. What a nonsense; we are talking about the Parliament here. I wonder why we didn't get any information on the plans", said Mike de Meza, AVP parliament-member and owner of an engineering company that works for Valero. He asked questions about the involvement of the Netherlands in the founding of CAP. "The Netherlands has a lot of experience in the field of oil and gas. Not only that; our seas concern the Kingdom. What happens if we find oil and gas? We will immediately be in conflict with Venezuela. A few years ago Colombia found a gas deposit on the Venezuelan border, which immediately caused a conflict, and the gas deposit was never exploited. There are rumours about us having a treaty with Venezuela, but I doubt that this would fix an anticipated conflict. And what if we get entangled in a war problem? We will have to depend on the Netherlands then. I think that we have to plan ahead."

Geologist Armando Curet of the DOW will be appointed acting manager of CAP. The government had promised to recruit personnel from existing public servants for CAP. The government will need to ask the Parliament permission for decisions on concessions and for the expenditure of money. There were searches for oil and gas around Aruba in the past, but the conclusion was then that the composition of the sea-bed is very good, but too young. Nowadays there is better equipment to take more accurate measurements.

Today, Aruba has Compania Arubiano di Petroleo or CAP and is filling the executive positions, as you read this editorial, with personnel from other departments. And, not 30 days from Ansary's take over of the controlling interests (51%) of Banco di Carib, Aruba finds itself with a rich, oil expert right next door in Curacao. What is really interesting is that all this activity took place within the same time frame as the search for Natalee Holloway. Had the international media and the audiences of Aruba, USA and neighboring countries not been so preoccupied with Natalee Holloway, some interested parties may have stumbled onto this sudden interests in the waters of Aruba by the leading oil experts in the world.

Just as a brainstorming exercise, allow me to juxtapose all these facts:

Hushang Ansary, republican, strong Texas Republican party donator ($100,000.00 and up), controlling interests in state-of-the-art oil drilling equipment, controlling interests in largest oil company in the world, former Minster for Finance of Iran, former head of the National Iranian Oil Company and philanthropist extraordinary (where George Bush is concerned). He lives and headquarters his companies in Houston, TX.

Boycott Bob, republican.

Secretary of State Rice, republican from Birmingham, AL, former senior oil company executive with Halliburton.

George W. Bush, republican, oil company owner and senior executive with same company as Secretary of State Rice ... Halliburton.

Headquarters of Halliburton:

5 Houston Center
1401 McKinney, Suite 2400
Houston, TX 77010-4008

Perhaps, we can expect more than cadaver dog trainers at the M Bar in Houston, TX for cocktails with Beth Twitty.

With Aloha,

Interesting article dated....September 2006

Rising oil prices pose dangers for Caribbean

‘…we're also looking at a situation where people will turn to alternative sources of employment whether it is through human trafficking, drug trafficking…’ -- Dominica's Minister of Energy, Reginald Austrie.
By Linda Hutchinson-Jafar

Aruba's Prime Minister Nelson Oduber told reporters the high fuel price is already affecting his country's tourism.

"We are in a special moment together to see how we can share experiences and alternative solutions; we would want to be part of the solution. With the demand in China and India, even if we have money for the next five or ten years, there might be a moment when we can't buy because it is too expensive," Oduber said
