VI. The Arrival
 
Friday, Nov-30, 2200 hours: The R/V Persistence departs the Port of New Iberia with seven crew members on board, headed to Isla Mujeres Mexico. The seas and wind are calm, and the visibility is excellent.

Tuesday, Dec-04- 1200 hrs: Dockside Isla Mujeras. The tropical waters are calm and the skies are clear. We take on 1,700 gallons of fuel and head out bound for Jamaica in 2-4ft swells.

Thursday, Dec-06 - 1900 hrs: Slowed down to clutch speed due to weather. We took shelter on the west-side (leeward) of Jamaica.

Tuesday, Dec-11 - 1100 hrs: Leaving Jamaica for Aruba. Tropical Storm Olga is quickly moving towards our location. We head out in 7-10ft seas to stay ahead of the coming storm. Wind E 15-20kts.
1900 hrs: The seas quickly build to 10-12 ft swells. We alter our course to avoid heaving rolling due to running in side-seas. Winds NE 20-25kts.

Wed, Dec 12 - 0900 hrs: Seas 8-10ft, in a moderate squall with heavy rain. Wind NE 30-35kts.

So that post was made by someone who knew Dateline would be joining the Persistence.

Or - a really lucky guess.

2NJ - A couple of additional reasons I believe the Ritz is a different project.

The One in conjunction with the port relocation is being funded by Spanish investors, and the Aruban Investment Bank wasn't to be a financial stakeholder.

    I never said they were the same project. 

I know.  I was just wanting to make sure for myself of the distinction, more than anything else.

I *think* it's part of the mtbs port project - ie. Bushiri project = the condo/hotel development that would help pay for the cargo move to Bacadera....again, I *think*...

Bringing this forward as I think it is an important observation.
I always found Cap's post to be of the "Anybody But Joran" nature and found that troubling.  Remember he was having Joran drop Natalee off and then she was returned to poor Joran already deceased at one point which just made me gag.

Luce Bayou Interbasin Transfer Project

The Coastal Water Authority (CWA) recently selected TCB for Phase I of the Luce Bayou Interbasin Transfer Project. The project will pump water from the Trinity River in eastern Texas and convey it to the northern reaches of Lake Houston to supply additional water for the City of Houston. Once complete, the Luce Bayou Interbasin Transfer Project will be an integral link to optimizing the use of all of Houston’s water resources facilities by allowing greater opportunities for system operations. In light of the requirements for reductions in groundwater usage, the project is critical to meeting the near- and long-term water demands for Harris and the surrounding counties. Moreover, the project may set several precedents on how to address the current regulatory issues relating to water permitting and inter-basin transfers.

TCB, as part of a joint venture, developed an innovative plan to replace lost intertidal salt marsh with material dredged from the Houston Ship Channel, thereby turning a waste disposal problem into an opportunity to create an environmental resource. The final project will create 4,250 acres of intertidal wetland, a 12-acre colonial bird nesting island, and 320 acres of upland shoreline protection. When complete, the project will have far-reaching effects on restoring the environment of Galveston Bay while providing continued economic growth for the Port of Houston.

TCB, as part of a joint venture, developed an innovative plan to replace lost intertidal salt marsh with material dredged from the Houston Ship Channel, thereby turning a waste disposal problem into an opportunity to create an environmental resource. The final project will create 4,250 acres of intertidal wetland, a 12-acre colonial bird nesting island, and 320 acres of upland shoreline protection. When complete, the project will have far-reaching effects on restoring the environment of Galveston Bay while providing continued economic growth for the Port of Houston.
