Just a comment here  mostly ....... I was reading about the Danielle Van Dam case, They only had dog hair, a few human hairs and a few drops of blood, in his house and RV, and they were able to convict Her killer and got the death plenty. This so gives me hope that they put the death penalty back on the table and are able to convict Casey for her daughters murder I am so worried she will get off.

I personally do not believe that the death penalty was taken off the table because there was not enough evidence.  I believe that it was taken off the table because the SA saw the backpeddling of  Cindy and George in their support of Casey.  Should Casey receive the death penalty I am sure that all the Ants would be appealing, driving the Governor nuts and be all over the media trying to get it over turned.  In a normal case the victim's family would be in support of justice in the form of the death penalty if they agreed with it (morally).  In this case the victims family are in support of the accused and have totally forgotten the victim. By going after the death penalty when the grandparents of the victim are openly supporting the accused, it would serve no purpose other than racking up even more legal bills for the state and dragging this on forever.

NorthernRose, I'm trying to catch up but in the meantime I'd like to say something re. DP--not my fave subject.

The cases are running together in my mind, but I posted early on re. dp being highly unlikely when it comes to a woman who is convicted of killing her offspring.  Remember Susan Smith rolling her car into the drink w/her young boys?  I recall thinking at the time when the sheriff reported the boys had been recovered that she should die for the crime.  Now look at her.

But if a perp had marched into that home and blew those children away, he would have been convicted and smoked by now.

Myself, I consider murder by a woman of her own children the most insidious crime and frankly don't "get" the compassion that prosecutors and juries have for some of the woman who have committed such crimes.

I guess it's 'cause I think that the last bastion of protection and nurturing when hell's afire are the mothers...and those who kill their own are beyond redemption.

I think dp should be back on the table, but I don't think it'll fly for so many sociological and psychological reasons.  Maybe we don't want to face the fact that some "mothers" do kill their children...and its hard to face that some kill their own kids because they consider the children an impediment to their "happiness" (the selfish, self-centered blankety-blanks).

I'll never get why some of the pukes of society get a pass while the folks who walk the straight and narrow are left to grieve and pick up the pieces.

Foggy

Agreed that there are far more men than women on death row.  At least 100 men to every female.  I also concur that if a woman killed another woman there would be more chances on being on death row that if she killed a man or her children.

In this particular case because the surviving victims are also the family of the accused their impact statement will have great bearing on seaking the death penalty.  The Ants would never remain silent if the death penalty were to be handed down.  At the memorial they were adamant to remember Casey along with Caylee.  It would be the Ants against the justice system to not have their daughter put to death.

In the case of Casey I believe that every day she lives without her life, friends, social calendar etc, would be far worse punishment than the death penalty. Hopefully she will not be in segregation.

NewsJ

I hesitated deciding whether to respond here on the thread & not without a few tears and ended up coming to the conclusion that I had to because what you are implying is just not so.  Sweetie, when you first posed this many of us studied it & gave our honest respectful opinions, you even quipped back that you respectfully disagreed - that was accepted by me.    I even screencapped it to aide you because at full screen there were shadows from a reflection that seemed more distinct.   We ALL have value here, we all search for answers & pray for justice for Caylee, no one ever suggested that your inquiry was not a worthy one at all.   I was not the only one that had that opinion.   Regardless, we all have opinions...none of us are right all the time, in this instance I could have been just as easily wrong.   So that's one issue.

I didn't tell you anything directly.   Actually, I was responding to Northern Rose as this stack shows:

Northern Rose,
Good - because I wrote Holly Bristow today to see if she will look into to the mystery and I linked your pic from my photobucket!  Kathi and JVM were being to slow! LOL.   I can be a determined monkey - anyone have Hoover's phone number? LOL

LP would have Hoover's number...LOL. This would get him spinning too with his daisey chain theory.

Actually, no.     I just got off the phone with Lenny & he told me that it perfectly OK to post that he said that there was absolutely no one else in the woods that day besides Hoover & DC, no ifs ands or buts.
****
Again, the second post was not directed  to you specifically but yes I did add that people on the case looked at the video & questioned Hoover who a) filmed the tape b) was there.     It by no means in any shape, way or form was meant to "demean" or "hurt" you personally nor was it intended whatsoever as "you being told."   As you said, you were a determined monkey, which is great & no one took that from you but I thought you would be pleased to get a definitive answer so you can rest.   I spoke to Lenny today on a separate matter as I stated but then thought to ask him if your thought was possible based on what you were seeing, I was merely trying to help.  Hoover went to him first & he had direct knowledge of what transpired.  Its actually not a matter of expertise as much as it is firsthand knowledge - now he told me, definitely not but then again if you were right & he confirmed that it still would have given you a more definitive answer, correct?   Never in my wildest thoughts would I have imagined you take something so hurtful or personal & this is the third post you've made expressing such making me seem insensitive & a bad guy when I am far from it - its putting me on a spot  despite the fact that I tried to make you feel better & cheer you up.   Its just not fair that I should feel I have to defend myself publicly nor is it fair to our monkey friends to see any of us mincing words of a personal nature.   So this is what I suggest, if you'd like to talk further about this by all means PM me privately but I hope this will be sufficient to put this behind us.   From my heart & with all sincerity, I adore you NewsJ, my intentions were absolutely far from meant to insult or hurt you.  I consider you a friend like so many here and yes I'd love to have coffee with you some day.

Wow Guys...

Maybe when you look this over again with some rest under your belt you will reconsider. I have felt the same way over at the Haleigh thread and then a wise monkey came on and posted that we all have the right to post our opinions and should not be made to feel that we owe anyone an explanation BUT it is fun to rehash while we await more documents.

I gotta tell you that I have read ever word Capp has posted since I was allowed to be a monkey and I have never seen any hurtful intent ever to anyone. A lot of facts and knowledge is what she has. A good heart shines through as well.

I ALSO read every word you post and think you are clever and funny and determined. I have never skipped a post of yours as I am always ready for some fun and you have a great sence of humor. You also dig up some great facts and investigate well.

I wasn't going to post this morning as no one ever seems to answer them probably because it is much to early for most to see. So.......

You can all tell me to mind my own beeswax and I will and I usually do but I just couldn't help it over two such wonderful contributors to SM.

Can't wait for new info to be released and I hope we get something to sink our teeth into today.

Sources: Anthony Friend Got $20,000 For Story
Also, Judge Denies Motion For Secret Hearing

POSTED: 8:52 am EDT April 1, 2009
UPDATED: 6:28 pm EDT April 1, 2009
NEWSVINE: Sources: Anthony Friend Got $20,000 For Story
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Two sources tell WESH 2 that the friend of Casey Anthony deposed on Wednesday accepted $20,000 for her story from a tabloid.

Cruz would not comment on claims she sold her story for thousands. But an attorney for the Anthony family said her credibility as a witness is shot.

"People are coming out of the woodwork to make statements about Casey Anthony and most of it is just not true," said Brad Conway, who represents Anthony's parents, Cindy and George Anthony.

Cruz said that when she and Anthony were children, they used to bury dead pets in the same area where Caylee Anthony's remains were found. Cruz also told investigators Casey Anthony wanted to let her adopt Caylee, but was blocked by Cindy Anthony.

"It's garbage," Conway said Wednesday as Cruz was deposed by defense attorneys at the State Attorney's Office in Orlando.

.Casey Anthony's attorney Jose Baez said Cruz' decision to sell her story doesn't immediately diminish her credibility.

"It really only affects someone's credibility if they change their story," he said.

Cruz' deposition lasted just under two hours and was not open to the public. After the session ended neither she nor Baez would talk about what was said behind closed doors.

Earlier Wednesday, a judge has denied a request from Anthony's attorney to hold a private meeting without prosecutors or the public.

Circuit Court Judge Stan Strickland issued his ruling on Wednesday, a day after Baez filed the motion.

Baez said the meeting was necessary to discuss "sensitive matters" that the defense saw as "critical."

From the beginning, Baez has said he has information that would explain why Anthony failed to report her daughter's disappearance for more than one month and why he believes she's not guilty of the toddler's murder.

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of her daughter, Caylee, who was reported missing in July 2008. Caylee's body was found in woods not far from the Orange County home where she and her mother lived.

Scarlett -- I, too am distressed by two monkeys who have contributed so much to the forum and who both have hurtful feelings right now.  NewsJ, you have contributed much, one of the most recent I can remember is the kissing skeletons.  Capp, too, I admire, as she is so eloquent with words and has a great sense of humor.  I do not believe that Capp meant to hurt feelings and I saw that she was quick to make sure that nothing posted was meant to hurt anyone's feelings.  I do not want either monkey to stop contributing or to lurk.  I hope that a good nights sleep will give new perspective to the situation.  Both have had great compassion for those that are hurting when someone is missing.  Both have shown such passion in their sleuthing and their posts.

Hugs to you Scarlett, my early morning friend.

I LOVE MARK KLAAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do too... was just listening to what he said and thought 'I love that man!'

I like him too, but i didn't like his comment about Kio Marie *getting on the anthony gravy train*....i thought that was inappropriate.

I love him too....
didn't like his comment about Kio Marie either...but he may have a point..at least someone is speaking out about the gravy train...all at Caylee's expense...poor baby...

I liked it. It said a LOT..........It said that the Anthony's are ON the Caylee gravy train.

I think maybe some missed the missile he was shooting at the Anthonys and took it to be against Kio instead.

Turbo....I think that you are right! it was a direct disgust for the Ants wasn't it?

I believe it was a DIRECT MISSILE aimed at the Anthonys only.

I think so too, Turbo.

Casey Anthony lawyer's request for private hearing denied

    April 2, 2009
A judge on Wednesday denied a request from Casey Anthony's lawyer to have a private hearing without prosecutors or the public present. Defense lawyer José Baez had earlier filed a request for a private meeting without prosecutors with Orange Circuit Court Judge Stan Strickland. Baez wanted to meet with the judge in private so "sensitive matters which are critical to the defense can be addressed," he wrote. Baez doesn't want others to know about any defense theories. Strickland denied Baez's request and noted in his order: "No legal authority has been provided to allow [private] hearing under the circumstances outlined in defendant's motion." Also Wednesday, Baez questioned under oath Anthony's childhood friend, Kiomarie Torres Cruz. The deposition at the State Attorney's Office was not public. According to reports in the case against Anthony, Cruz told authorities that Anthony wanted to put her baby up for adoption. Cruz told Anthony she would be interested in adopting the child.
