He downplayed speculations that the suitcase that held Sandra’s body belonged to the family of Clifford Lane Lawless, 77, whose church police searched on Tuesday.

“Anything I say on that would be speculation at this point,” he said.

Several rumors associated with the piece of black luggage have spread among residents of Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park, where little Sandra lived. Some residents have said that the pastor’s wife, Connie Lawless, or her daughter, Joni, left the rolling suitcase on their home’s driveway for a few minutes when someone took it.

No suitcase was reported missing to police, Sheneman said.

So the rumor is the "she" with the rummage sale suitcase is the pastor's wife or daughter. Surprise, surprise.

The rumor mill is alive and well here in Tracy...I have a hard time believing 2 frail seniors are going to be able to pull this crime off. It  doesn't make any sense to me. They had Sandra play with the GG, if they felt Sandra should be put to death, why expose their GG to her?
Any information about the son? I would assume Melissa is a Daughter in law.

Do you know that the reverend is frail?  I don't know that either are involved, but there is a possibility that Mrs. Lawless didn't know anything.  If the crime was committed during an act of another kind, (I just can't say it) it is possible it wasn't decided that she be put to death - it just happened.
  Sometimes even spouses are oblivious to what the other is up to....BTK killer comes to mind.

I just hope LE looks at everyone equally and let the evidence lead them to the killer.

He appeared frail and the sound of his voice was the same. It was a very short statement in the driveway though. I could be way off, but I just don't have the feeling he/she did this.

I think an interview with Sandra's grandfather quoted him as saying Sandra spoke to her sisters about going to church or to a movie, then realized they didn't have money....

Very interesting.  Could be rumor who knows, but, let me expand on this.  Just a scenario:

Someone in the park kidnaps and kills Sandra.  This person takes a risk of stealing a suitcase on the driveway of the Lawless' - taking a risk that they would be seen and taking a risk of being id'ed when and if that suitcase turns up again.

Of course we don't know if this was "the" suitcase and we also don't know if this is just a rumor.  But I do feel that something in or on the suitcase Sandra was found in led LE to Lawless and the church - whether LE admits it or not.

I put photos up of the suitcase earlier,can anyone zoom in on it?? maybe we can see if there is any name tag or anything on it??

I'm having a hard time with the pastor and his wife being involved with this, I'm thinking one of their children or grandchildren perhaps. I don't know why but the age of the pastor is 77, I'm just thinking because of his age, but I could be very wrong.

I wish we knew more about the suitcase...like when it was on the driveway - the timeframe it was placed there and when it was missing. 

It could very well be a set up,  an act of desperation, but very risky.  Panic can make people do things that in hindsight are bad ideas.

I have all these questions and good gosh I want to know!  Time will tell.  They will get the perp.  I gotta have faith in that.

The church is very common to Sandra I assume because she plays with the 5 year old at the pastors home in the park and I am sure they go from the home to the church all the time.. Would she walk across the street alone ? Or was the suitcase brought back into the park by the person who walked off with it ?
I just know that person was witnessed..

I don't think so either. I am sure there are many more kids missing but Amber Dubois is the only other one mentioned in Ca recently. Serials work alone.... so do peds. I would think Peds would be methodical as they have fantasized about doing this for awhile, plotting, planning much like a serial. Then again I have no degree

One more comment on child porn, the police have said they tagged certain movies, what if this group of perverts made their own that was untraceable by the police? Put on CD's rather then down-loadable links? They know they are being watched by police but they need their fix (sort a speak)
