My dear Monkey Friends-

No mas, you know I lub ya. Here's the danger in making any rationalization or justification for a grown man kissing a child on the lips that is not a non-perv relative.
A REAL LIFE PERV will use whatever you say as rationalization and justification for their behavior. I am not saying this to make anyone wrong in any way. I am saying this because there has to be a 0% tolerance policy on this issue, in any situation.

Two months ago I interviewed Ken Lanning, a 35 year veteran of the FBI, most consider the John Douglas of behavioral profiling of pedophilia and helped structure child porn laws for what they are today. I was so profoundly affected by it I have not and may never write on it. I felt it was so insightful that it would actually help pedos hone their craft. It haunts me to this day. Most do not know how prolific this illness is and how broadly it runs the perp spectrum.
I know I wish I did not after the fact, I am still having nightmares. I say that with complete respect for Mr. Lanning, who is an absolute subject matter expert (sme) and dedictaed pioneer in his profession. Not a pleasant subject.
I can just imagine, I have done some reading on this subject and frankly the thought of this makes me extremely ill. One thing that I'm trying to understand. I thought the family didn't notify authorities when the kissing episode happened. I was wrong, they did, which was the right thing to do. But if you went to authorities, because you felt what this man did was wrong, then why was this child going over to this man's house and helping him water his plants? I'm not blaming anyone, just curious why she was allowed, or maybe her family didn't know, but you would think you would have been very strict about her not going near his house.

NoRose...that is what I thought too about her continuing to go over there...not blaming either..just wondering if the family was satisfied with the explanation given (?) or that the police had talked to this guy? even being him and with the police being called, I would never let that child be around me again unless a family member or others were around...would be overly cautious and aware....maybe no one really kept that close of an eye on her? not sure and not judging....I would just be frightened after something like that happened...but I am over protective...but for good reason in this day and age....imo

I'm even thinking that in this small community of mobile homes, people maybe felt safe, and didn't think something like this could happen. I'm wondering also how much supervision Sandra and her siblings receive.

One thing about it, during the presser, the man said that Tracy PD has never had a missing child before.

That being said, people probably did feel safe.  Plus, most people think it will never happen to them.

also, her spokesperson for the family said that Sandra was not allowed to go outside of the park and that she would never do that...They probably did feel safe...nice people for neighbors, safe area...but one can never be too careful...and damn it that we can't let our kids out to play like we all used to and not have to worry that some weirdo will come along and take them!
we played out from morning till night...parents just let kids run and play in the neighborhood and ride bikes..when the street light came on, we all gathered under the street light and played kick the can in the summer...! it was very fun for a kid back then I think..so different from our world today...how very sad...

They " The Police" Have to know the circumstances behind that kiss on the lips..
I know when I was very young it was not uncommon for the kids to give family members a kiss before going to bed..
Times have changed...
Apparently this fellow was not even a family friend.. But how exactly that happened at a public pool is the question, was that in front of her parents ?

I can't imagine that in this day and age..

I know this is far more common and excepted in Europe. This aint Europe.

That kiss bothers me... a lot!! In my family, we didn't kiss our brothers, uncles, cousins, etc. Even a family friend would not get by with kissing a child on the lips. It is highly inappropriate, IMO. If they were in the pool, I wonder what else he might have got away with... like getting too close, too much body contact? KWIM? Being "nice" as he called it has nothing to do with it. HE might have thought it was nice. It wasn't!! Both he and the other guy look creepy to me.
I am praying for this little girl and her family. Please, God, we don't need any more murdered children!!

It is sad, Cookie. We cannot take our eyes off our kids and grandkids for a second nowadays. When I was growing up, I could walk from my house to town to go to the movies it, was maybe 1/2 a mile... never a fear. And as a teen, my g/f and I walked 2 miles into town and back (different town.) Now kids can't go play in their own front yard!
I've heard the interviews saying she wouldn't go outside the park, but also from neighbors that she was very friendly, and that might have been a problem, since she is such a pretty little girl.

He could have done all those things....nothing has been said about it though....wonder who was with her at the pool when the kiss happened? it was very wrong...
I don't however for what ever reason think that he has  anything to do with her disappearance...but time will tell...it just seemed that he was being honest and straightforward when he was talking to the reporters...
I sure home that she is found soon....bless her little heart...she must be so scared...

True story. I never thought in a million I would repeat it, I guess it is time.
When I was 4 years old, I wanted to follow my sibling to school. I asked them repeatedly when we were in the car; Is this the way to school? Is this the way? I started getting up at the same time and when my Mom (dad already off to work) started putting me back to bed, I began getting up and dressing myself as if I was going to school in the middle of the night.. I was determined.

Anyway, one morning, when my Mom was tending to my sister upstairs, an infant, I took off for school. Yes, 4 years old, walking through town. BTW, sibling was taunting me so gave me wrong directions.

1.5 Miles away, after my Mom called the Police within 5 minutes from the time I left, I was walking across a bridge when a reporter pulled over, stopping traffic, and asked me my name and where I was supposed to be. The reporter drove me to the PD (no cells, and yes, I got in the car..) where I told them a false name (apparently figured out I was in UGE trouble) that of my playmate and an address 1 block from where I lived; I sat at the PD for hours. When the PD finally coordinated me and my hysterical mother -they took me home. My Mom, set to spank me, dropped to her knees and wailed like I have not seen ever again. ( I paused for 15 mintues to finish this and called my Mommy) Yes, it made the front page.

She said (wailed) "You NEVER can leave without Mommy or Daddy.. Bad people are everywhere. They will take you and be mean and never bring you back..   When I am done crying, you are so getting punished. I did not.

I say this because truth be told, I am one of the luckiest kids of that generation, we were all there. Good parents, no reason to fear, because they never experienced it themselves. No google to research.

It is my hope that someone reading my admittedly dysfunctional true tale, will laugh, and then warn someone.

It seems the Tracy PD called for FBI assistance right from the start and I think that is commendable.  It may make all the difference.

Unfortunately, it is just so easy to make a person totally disappear.  I had such hopes when the dogs were brought in so quickly as well but this is a story we are seeing repeated more and more all the time.

From following cases in the past, we all know that with each passing day, the statistics shift more toward the unfavorable side.  Please may whoever has her just let her go.

And from the sounds of it, they are not ready to give up.  I know the officer that I talked to said they are all on 12 hr shifts right now, and if there is something suspicious, they are on call to come check it out.  I still have hope that she is going to be in her mom's arms, alive and well, SOON!

I agree Anna- the FBI in the early stages makes all the difference.

That's kind of an odd comment to leave.  I hope that person called it in, if they are for real.

11 pm news.

News agencies found the house being searched in Oakdale.  Relatives of Sinclair (guy who fussed about them searching his place).  Husband and wife.  Neighbors describe them as quiet.  He works all the time, mows grass on the weekends.

FBI swooped in, had ladders, shovels, metal detectors, you name it.  There was a hole that had been dug by a patio.  Investigators were not interviewed there.  Nothing was shown being taken out, only that ladders, etc. were being taken into the yard.

Also showed video of them searching at the landfill.  They were specific in that they are looking for the pink Hello Kitty shirt.  Everything else was a repeat of earlier.

Goodnight monkeys!  I hope to wake to good news in the morning!
