i dont understand why they wouldn't have included the rape charges when she was arrested.  the autopsy was complete on Tuesday correct?  aren't signs of sexual abuse easily detected, therefore they would have known about this prior to her arrest on Saturday???

BLOCKED WEBSITE

I wish her poor parents didn't have to be hit with yet another devastating piece of information now.  How awful.

I was wondering when this would surface. I knew there was evidence of rape but was not going to reveal a source and secondly, this family was not going to hear this from me before Easter.  Brace yourselves.

OH God, is it going to get worse than this?

Wow . . . just wow . . . this case keeps getting sicker and sicker.

I was prepared to hear of rape and murder, but not by a woman.

I'm sure there are other such crimes, but I can't think of any high profile crimes involving the rape and murder of a child by a woman.

You are not the only one Flossy. ( Worried about Melissa's girl ) Thin & sickly is not an illness.
The Lawless family should get out of Tracy before some hot head makes them.. .I feel a great deal of anger towards them. Their statements are hard to digest in the light of a girls murder. The church service was not something they had to.

There is something sinister about the entire family and the church with only 15 members to begin with, then you have the desecration of a murder committed in what should be a holy sancuary and then they hold an Easter service in the crime scene. Dispicable. There's something wrong with this whole picture. Not to mention a Great Grandmother that states Sandra was abused before that news was made public. If this group is not complicit, then they certainly reside in a distorted realty that could produce some type of female monster.

DA: Rape may be alleged in Calif. girl's slaying

By MARCUS WOHLSEN and GARANCE BURKE – 21 minutes ago

TRACY, Calif. (AP) — Prosecutors say they're considering rape and molestation allegations against the woman suspected of killing an 8-year-old Northern California girl and putting her body in a suitcase.

Twenty-eight-year-old Melissa Huckaby was arrested Saturday on suspicion of kidnapping and murdering Sandra Cantu. The girl was a playmate of her 5-year-old daughter.

San Joaquin County Deputy District Attorney Robert Himmelblau said Monday that a homicide charge against Huckaby could include the special circumstances of rape with a foreign object, lewd and lacivious conduct with a child and murder in the course of a kidnapping.

Himmelblau wouldn't provide more details. Huckaby is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.

Sandra's body was found in a suitcase in an irrigation pond last week.

If this wasn't enough, for anyone following Caylee's case, the prosecutors are putting the death penalty back on the table for Casey

My mind is already going other places.  I wouldn't be surprised if Melissa was at some point sexually abused.  Unless she's a sociopath (or is a sociopath because of it), I doubt it's common for a woman to do something like this unless she was a victim of sexual abuse, in addition to any other types of abuse.

So that leaves me wondering, who might have abused her?

I'll stop there for now.

Something I caught in several articles that I just wanted to throw out there, Sheneman stated that Melissa spent an extrordinary amount of time at the church. I wonder what she was doing there?

AND they said last night on the news that the recording equipment was taken from the church.  If "sermons" were recorded, why would LE need to take it?

A larger church might have a ministry to others by recording their sermons, yet for a "church" with only 15 members, (majority family) I find that highly unlikely.  If I were LE, I'd challenge that and ask for copies of the "sermons" recorded in the past.

The Lawless family said the other day in that video, that they do have a ministry to others, that they would like to be allowed to continue to do.  Would love to know what their "ministry to others" actually is.

For Melissa to have only 4 or so children in Sunday School, as reported, it sure wouldn't take very long to prepare lessons, none of which likely needs to be actually done at the "church" itself during the week.

The one Sunday out of the year that tends to have the largest attendance, in a Baptist Church, is Easter.  Sunday School being a very important part of that day.  Interesting that in the Clover Baptist "church", there was no Sunday School reported that day, (no one to cover for Melissa's class?) and the service was at it's regularly scheduled time.

Personally, if I belonged to a church that LE had reported to media was very likely the scene of a murder, THE last thing I'd be doing is attending services there.  At least not until LE had time to investigate and declare it 100% either way.

And speaking of which.  How can LE report in the media that the murder very likely was committed at that "church", while at the same time, allow services there to continue there "as usual"?

In the press conference they said they ask the community to respect their church, no thanks! Not until I find out a little girl was not murdered there.

It just doesn't seem very "god like" or compassionate to me.

I agree, Tracygirl.
