Marcon is pleased to announce the long term charter of the dive support vessel "Ocean Veritas" (ex-Seabulk Veritas). The U.S. flag vessel is 195' x 40' x 17' depth, an ex-supply boat which Marcon sold into the oilfield from fisheries during the last run up in the offshore market in the mid 1990's when she was converted to geophysical research. (I think we also may have sold her out of the "oil patch" in the late 80's). The vessel was recently outfitted to accommodate a dive support service by her current Owner. She is classed ABS +A1, now fitted with a 4-point mooring system and working in dive support service in the Gulf of Mexico on a long term contract under private terms. The vessel was originally built in 1974 by Halter Marine, USA as the "Jean Lafitte" for Euro-Pirates International, Inc. She is now powered by a pair of CAT3606TA's which replaced her original MWM's. Marcon acted as the sole broker in the transaction and has handled a number of previous transactions for both the Owner and Charterer.

I'm going to post this here only because it relates to Schaefer & not necessarily oil or gas.  It's interesting to read what the customers say, imo.

 Word.
This wont help your panic attack, but I heard the coasties have kept big E from leaving the shipyard in Louisiana. Seems no permits where pulled before the million dollar facelift......

I don't have any experiences with the new owner's of the Big-E; seems like a rich guy with more money than business sense. Surely, the payment just sitting at berth is outrageous... Or are they running trips of some kind? Is hurricane Ike the reason? It would be nice if someone from Underwater Expeditions would do some explaining on this site and others like it. Seems like a fair amount of business can be done from here, if someone was savvy.

And another.  Note the name they use for the "new owner" of Capt Elliot's - it's TIM, not Louis.

As in Tim Trahan, Underwater Expeditions.

I found that interesting, especially in light of Kyle telling Freebirds in...............July 2008 I think it was........that Louis was dissolving UE, and Tim was "out of a job".

FYI The Crew boats are still run by Elliott, they didn't sell their crew boats to Tim just the party boat operation...

Ben
----------

I also find this one interesting, for the same reasons.............Louis was dissolving the company, etc etc etc

Underwater Expeditions is currently working on our 2009 schedule. Our operation is owned by Louis. He also is the owner of several dive inspection boats, crew boats as well as other offshore operations. The Big E does not have any chambers on the vessel. We do have the COI for the vessel. The changes that were made to the vessel were in mind for future long range trips. We are excited to offer a full galley, icemakers, washers and dryers to accomadate our long range fishing customers. The Big E will have a set schedule for all 12,30, 52, and 76 hour trips this year as well. Almost all 12 hour trips will be ran on the Capt. Casey. We will be closed untill Jan 4th 2009. At that time we will post our new schedule and pricing on our web page. Those customers who have requested an e-mail schedule will be sent one during this time. We look forward to seeing everyone in 2009 and our crew is ready to get back to fishing! If you have any questions or comments for the 2009 schedule I am open for suggestions!
UE wishes everyone a Great Christmas!
Thank You

Jen,

I had to stop reading that forum for a while.  I hit page after page where they were upset with the price going up.  I'll resume where I left off.

Statoil Signs Agreement with PDVSA to Quantify Reserves
StatoilHydro|Wednesday, January 23, 2008

StatoilHydro's Chief Executive Helge Lund has signed two agreements with Rafael Ramirez, Venezuela’s Oil and Energy Minister and CEO of PDVSA.

The first agreement covers the work to quantify the reserves of the block Junin 10 in the Orinoco Belt. The block covers an area of 593 square kilometers. The other agreement is to do a development study for this block.

"With the signing of these agreements, we are confirming our long term commitment to Venezuela and interest to expand our industrial activity in this country. The signing of these agreements represents a great opportunity to StatoilHydro to support the development of the Venezuelan oil business," says Helge Lund.

"As a group we have the commitment to build international platforms for growth, through leveraging technology to manage complexity particular within deepwater, gas value chains, harsh environments and extra heavy oil. A further expansion of our business in Venezuela fits very well with this strategy," he adds.

In Venezuela, the group has been present since 1995 and has a 9.7% interest in the extra heavy oil project, Petrocedeño (former Sincor) that processes, refines, and sells upgraded crude oil.

StatoilHydro is also the operator of Block 4 in Plataforma Deltana, offshore Venezuela, where the exploratory campaign was recently completed.

"The signing of these agreements represents a great opportunity to StatoilHydro to support the development of the Venezuelan oil business," says Lund.
