KTF - It certainly shows the long history between the two, doesn't it?

It also shows just WHO has done exploration for ENI in the past............................and we know Silvetti was in the region Dec 07 - March 08.....mapping the sea floor.

IIRC.Saipem is a subsidiary of ENI..I think we've had discussions about Sonsub but,i could be wrong.Sonsub is a subsidiary of Saipem!Ahh hell, what do i know? Monkey Devil!

Pampatar, Margarita Island, Venezuela
Petroleumworld.com, Sept 14, 2009

Repsol Chairman Antonio Brufau and the President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, announced Repsol's largest ever gas for the company, the largest gas find in Venezuela and one of the largest in the world, in the Venezuelan Gulf an exploration partnership with Italy's Eni.

The chairman and the president expressed their satisfaction at the great potential of the Pearl 1 well which could hold between 7 and 8 trillion cubic feet of gas or around 1.4 billion barrels of oil equivalent (BOE), a Repsol spokesman said, adding that tests were continuing and that the figure was provisional.

The discovery was made in the Pearl 1 well, in Cardon block 4, which is part of the Rafael Urdaneta Gas project, an offshore block of Rafael Urdaneta Gas project in the Gulf of Venezuela, where Repsol is the block operator.

The reservoir is located in the Gulf of Venezuela at the entrance of Maracaibo lake, in the west of the country in water 60 meters deep. The reserve could be 33 square kilometers and 240 meters thick. Repsol who is the block operator said the data is pending final confirmation of the well testing which is being carried out at the moment.

The picture is interesting as well.Seems there is a line that seperates the waters of Venezuela from Aruba.I believe we've read different stuff in regards to the national lines...

Hypothetical."If" Silvetti and Schaeffer went down to map for OIL,which i believe they did, were they mapping to see how far north the cardon block reserves went?If they go far enough north, that means Aruba could potentially be losing Billions of dollars in OIL me thinks....Thoughts!

It would be interesting to say the least! It would be interesting to know the calculations of the size of that oil reserve that was "HIT"..Aruba sittin on black gold, all the while,it's being pumped right out from underneath them!Courtesy of? And they think tourism is where the money is at....  This is all hypothetical me thinks!

ARUBA

"Aruba 60 percent less dependent on oil '

September 30, 2009, 13:41 (GMT -04:00)

The annual meeting of the Netherlands-Aruba took place at the Promenade Hotel in The Hague. First MP Rein Willems talked about energy alternatives to Aruba.

ORANGE CITY - Aruba in 2025 to 60 percent may be less dependent on oil and would complete a long-term CO2-neutral island can be. This Rein Willems said recently at the annual meeting of the Netherlands-Aruba at the Promenade Hotel in The Hague. Ward is former CEO of Shell Netherlands and now a member of the Senate for the CDA.

He gave a lecture on energy transition and the potential for Aruba. He sees great benefits to Aruba, as the country use more renewable energy sources such as wind, and eventually Concentrated Solar Power (CSP). "The construction of several large and modern windmills, which have a capacity of 5 to 7 megawatts, Aruba would greatly less dependent on oil," said Willems. "The energy of the island is already completely dependent on oil for decades." We are on Aruba ten windmills with a capacity of 3 megawatts built by Father Peter, who in about 18 percent of the total energy provided.

Home insulation against solar heat also provides environmental gains, says Willems. "This needs to be generated less electricity for air conditioning." Alternatively calls the first MP of energy pumping relatively cold seawater to the Atlantic north coast of Aruba. Willems: "The sea, from depths of 100 to 200 meters, can be used for cooling of such large hotels on the southern coast of the island." Moreover, he also use more solar energy a possibility, but the cost is still too high. These proposals did MP also said in a lecture last year in Aruba, during the annual business dinner of the Chamber of Commerce

He finally gave up on that more and larger "kingdom thinking 'the use of renewable energy in the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba could promote. "It's in the political and public debate on renewable energy to date, especially on the Dutch climate objectives of the government. If that would also include the Caribbean part of the Kingdom, would have a beneficial impact on the environment of countries like Aruba, "said Willems.

Rein Willems is a member of parliament and former except summit of Shell Netherlands, also former chairman of the Environment Committee of employers' organization VNO-NCW and Energy Taskforce.

Netherlands-Aruba
The Netherlands-Aruba is twelve years ago in response to the mutual relations between the Netherlands and Aruba to improve, by means of objective and independent information on the development of Aruba. This included regular meetings each year by keeping relevant topics which are discussed on the relationship with Aruba and the Netherlands. The Society has recently crossed the border 200 members and now has 201 members.

Venezuela says no new Orinoco areas after Carabobo
Published on Friday, October 2, 2009

CARACAS, Venezuela (Reuters) -- Venezuela will not assign any new areas in the Orinoco oil belt after it completes an auction for its Carabobo project, the Venezuelan state-run oil company PDVSA said on Thursday.

The company said in a statement it would accept offers for the seven blocks in the Carabobo project in January, putting a date on a bidding process that has been repeatedly delayed.

Venezuela Energy Minister Rafael Ramirez met with representatives from companies interested in participating in Carabobo on Wednesday and outlined other Orinoco projects Venezuela is working on with Russia, China and Vietnam, the statement said.

"Once those projects are finished, no new areas will be assigned and PDVSA will focus on developing these blocks, which should help increase production to 2.8 million barrels a day," PDVSA said.

On Wednesday, a source close to the talks told Reuters Venezuela is studying changes in the royalties scheme for Carabobo in what could be the first time President Hugo Chavez lowers levies on energy production by foreign companies.

The Carabobo Project aims to build three upgraders to turn the Orinoco belt's tar-like crude into oil for exports and produce around 1.2 million barrels per day, with the initial investment seen between $10 billion and $20 billion per area.

Companies that have shown interest in the tender include Britain's BP, US-based Chevron, China's state-owned CNPC, Spain's Repsol YPF, France's Total, Italian ENI and Portugal's Galp Energia.

Venezuela: Chevron agree to sign JV conversion agreement

19 Dec 2005
Chevron corporation will now soon sign a transition agreement to convert its Venezuela's present operating contracts into joint ventures with Venezuela's oil company PdVSA, sources at the Venezuela's energy ministry has told reporters. A spokeswoman for the US major oil company has said Chevron expected to sign a formal agreement, possibly today. "Chevron will officially accept to shift our operating services agreements for Boscan and LL652 project to joint ventures format as required by the new hydrocarbons law," she said, citing a statement by Chevron's Latin America president, Ali Moshiri. Chevron will now engage in negotiations to migrate Boscan and LL652 fields operations in to a joint venture with PdVSA, where the national company will have majority ownership of the new company. "We will negotiate terms and conditions with the Ministry of Petroleum. Chevron wants to continue investing in long-terms projects in Venezuela," the statement said. The present agreements replace the operating contracts under which the companies pumped crude independently. Under the new transitional agreements, relating to the 2001 hydrocarbons law, PdVSA could now have a controlling stake of up to 80% pct in any ventures between PdVSA and the private oil operators, depending on the negotiation joint agreements negotiations between the parties. Chevron will be the latest company among 15 companies including Shell, BP, Repsol, Petrobras, Teikoku, and CNPC, Vinccler oil, Vinccler Benton, Hocol, Inemaka, Suelopetrol, Tecnopetrol, Perenco, that have signed agreements relating to the new 2001 hydrocarbons law to move toward the joint ventures with PdVSA, accounting for 360,000 barrels worth of production Venezuela's president Chavez government has made a threat that the companies would have to leave the country if they did not agree to the changed contracts by December 31. Venezuela is one of the top five suppliers of oil to the US. "We will negotiate terms and conditions with the Ministry of Petroleum. Chevron wants to continue investing in long-terms projects in Venezuela," the statement said. Chevron's Boscan field pumps more than 100,000 barrels per day of crude, alone accounting for about a fifth of non-PDVSA oil output in Venezuela. There are total of 22 private or foreign state oil firms with 32 operating contracts, that currently put out a total of 550,000 barrels a day. France's Total, Italy's Eni and the US oil firm ExxonMobil are among seven other small firms that have not yet agreed to the new deals. ChevronTexaco began exploration activities in Venezuela in the 1920s; in 1946, the company discovered the Boscan Field. Since 1996, when the country reopened the oil industry to private investment after 21 years, the company has operated LL-652 Block and Boscan in western Venezuela, with combined production of 125,000 barrels per day. The Woodlands is located 28 miles north of Downtown Houston along Interstate 45. Though it began as a suburban development and a bedroom community, it also has attracted corporations to the area. As a result, the area features several corporate campuses, most notably Chevron Phillips, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Baker Hughes, CB&I, and Hewitt Associates.

Russian seismic positioning contract for Veripos

Published on 02 October 2009 (15 reads)

Veripos, a world leader in the provision of precise Global Navigation Satellite System positioning solutions to the offshore oil and gas industry , has been commissioned by ARIS Geophysical of Moscow to provide positioning services, together with associated equipment and software, aboard two vessels carrying out transitional zone seismic surveys in Sakhalin, Far East Russia.

The source vessel, Iskatel 4 and recording vessel, Professor Gagarinsky, which were mobilised in Yuzhno-Sakhalinski, have been equipped with Veripos LD2-G2 mobile receiver systems together with Verify-QC software for real-time assessment and post-processing. The data is generated by the company's Ultra Precise Point Positioning service which is capable of providing continuous decimetre-level accuracies.
The project marks further collaboration between Veripos and ARIS Geophysical, one of Russia's leading independent transitional zone seismic survey organisations. It follows their recent joint operations in the Gulf of Khambhat in India on behalf of state owned Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).

Walter Steedman, Veripos Managing Director stated: "We are delighted to extend our association with ARIS Geophysical which demonstrates their faith in the quality of the services and support offered by Veripos, often in challenging environments and in remote locations."

Igor Schwartz, ARIS Geophysical President commented: "We are grateful to Veripos for their prompt and efficient assistance and look forward to future projects together."
