Casey Anthony: Will a Jury Sentence a Woman to Death?

So why did they make this decision? Do they feel they have a strong enough case? Are they looking for a plea from Casey Anthony?

I’m curious as to this decision as I’m not sure if they will be able to actually get a verdict which attaches the death penalty. Does anyone know Florida law on a death penalty verdict? I’ve heard places that in some instances in some states you don’t need 12 or even 10 to agree to the death penalty.

Yes, I believe that Casey Anthony is guilty of this terrible crime. I also believe that a jury can be swayed by emotion, not necessarily facts. But does the State believe that they can get a jury of 12 men and women to sentence her to death? I’m not sure.

Here’s an interesting line from the Orlando Sentinel article, which can be found below:

“Of the 392 prisoners on the state’s death row, only one is a woman. That woman, Tiffany Cole, was convicted last year of taking part in the murder of a Jacksonville couple who were buried alive, according to Florida Department of Corrections.”

Also from the article, Bob Jarvis, who teaches legal ethics and law and popular culture at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, stated: “Juries find it very difficult to send young women to death row.”

This brings me to my point in this post. It seems that most death penalty verdicts are attached to male criminals. Is the justice system not willing, in most cases, to sentence a woman to death? It’s an interesting question. I’d love to do more research into this.

There appears to be enough evidence to prove that Casey is guilty, although some evidence is in fact circumstantial. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens over the course of the next few months.

The State Attorney’s Office previously declared that it hoped to send Anthony to prison for life. Prosecutors announced that decision Dec. 5 — less than a week before investigators found the bones of 2-year-old Caylee Marie in woods near her family home.

Since then, sheriff’s investigators have gathered additional evidence and “sufficient aggravating circumstances exist to justify the imposition of the Death Penalty” if Anthony is found guilty, according to the notice filed late Monday by prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick.

If they found Anthony guilty of first-degree murder, jurors then would have to consider whether there are “aggravating circumstances” that justify execution. Those factors could include whether the homicide was committed in a cold, calculated and premeditated manner.

And yes, a jury will sentence a woman to death. The state just has to allow the jury to see that Casey is not really a woman but pure evil with a "pretty" *cough* face.

It is frustrating and I hate the hiccups!   

Mags.....I will have to get used to your new name!!  It's too darn quiet...something is getting ready to happen....every time it gets rel quiet something happens.....usually it's BOZO or the A's making asses outta themselves!! I have a feeling that DC is going to be pivotal in this case.

I don't believe that kc has become bulimic....that is pure poppycock....I wonder what is behind this and who is behind it...are they trying to get her sent to a hospital??  We haven't heard anymore about the A's trying to get a private meeting with her.....could this be a means to facilitate this private meeting.....something stinks and it's not my feet!!

They should just throw Casey in with the general population, let her see how life is gonna be for awhile. Why keep her secluded? I am not so happy to hear that the trial will take longer  now with the dp added... hate that it changes things for the trial and all.

Err....Is it just me, or does it seem to be just too da*ned quiet. My experience tells me that when it gets like this all he77 is about to break loose.

I've decided that when we go down to Fl I am going to put running lights on my be-hind and ride on top of the jeep in the dark so I can still moon the truck drivers. Whatcha think, JSM??

Interesting ... just found a photo of the "Cover Girl" Lee. While he is deathly afraid of signs, he does not appear to be too afraid of snakes on a plane. 



 

I laugh every time I see a picture of PeeWee (Lee).....because KC had a picture of PeeWee in her original photobucket photos.....

All he needs is one of those bubble things coming out of his mouth saying, "CMA"!

DP or not, I just hope she never sets foot out in the real world again except when she's going to court! There's no evidence anyone else did this. If it were an accident, she'd have fessed up long ago! She WILL get a fair trial regardless of what the defense wants everyone to believe. There is also probably lots of other evidence we haven't seen yet, and it could only be more damning than what we've seen so far. Giving all that I know to date, she is the only who could be guilty of doing what happened to Caylee. I hope she spends the rest of her days in prison. If she is convicted, and a jury sentences her to death than she can only blame herself. She has the power to do the right thing, even still today. So far she has chosen to do and say nothing, so she will get whatever she gets.
