snipped

"The beauty of duct tape — no matter rain, snow, sleet — that fingerprint will stay there," Baden said, adding that if someone used their teeth to rip it, it could yield DNA evidence too.

"Right now, they would be looking at all the contents of the plastic bag and they would be looking at the plastic bag itself," Baden said. "The fingerprints on the outside often get dissolved away by weather, but the inside of the plastic bag, the fingerprints would be there."

Two-year-old Caylee Anthony has been missing since June 16. Her mother, Casey Anthony, 22, has been charged with first-degree murder of her daughter, child abuse, aggravated manslaughter and four counts of lying to investigators about her disappearance.

Evidence found in the trunk of Casey Anthony's Pontiac Sunfire showed a decomposing body had been kept there. Strands of Caylee's hair were found, as were traces of chloroform.

"One important thing that I’ve hoped they’ve done already is take an air sample from the bag because they found chloroform in the vehicle and the cause of death still has to be determined," Baden said.

Finding chloroform could poke holes in the prosecution's first-degree murder case, if this is Caylee's body, he said.

"If it is chloroform as the cause of death, then it could be an accidental overdose and would not be capital, first-degree murder, because sometimes chloroform is used as a babysitter, to put a baby to sleep while mom goes out partying," Baden said.

With all of these document dumps I believe there is a trick to reading them.  The trick is simply this - do not focus on what is within them but rather what has not been released!

You do not run finger print testing against an item void of any finger prints.   What a huge waste of tax payer money.  The Prosecution has a HUGE case full of evidence I am sure and that makes me SMILE!!  The media is not reading things carefully and posting false information to the public.  When this goes to trial we are all going to be blown away I am sure.

I agree Dolce. The one document is only referring to G&C&LA, not KC. So just because they didn't find their fp's doesn't mean they didn't find any or that they didn't find KC's. It didn't test KC's in this particular sample. Besides, if there were NO fingerprints, what were they testing them for in the first place?

Viewers are sharing their disappointment that Oprah Winfrey wants to interview George and Cindy Anthony in May.

Here's a sample:

"Who has done the research for Oprah? Do they really know what they are getting in to? I wonder..."

And another:

"Personally, if O doesn't know all the ins and outs of this case, the A's are going to walk all over her. She should really consider putting this interview off until next year or so...or better yet, replace them with another guest.."

http://www.essortment.com/all/fingerprintssec_rwkx.htm

So now that we know what fingerprints are, how do people leave them behind at a crime scene? Since your fingers are covered in skin, they are also covered in skin pores. Skin pores produce oils and sweat, which are distributed on your fingers. When you touch something, those liquids are left on the surface, in the shape of your fingerprints (just like a rubber stamp with ink on it). It's those compounds that can be detected by forensic technicians, using a number of methods. The oily compounds left behind are often detected by good old fingerprint powder, just as you see on any TV detective movie. Like everything however, science has advanced fingerprint powders quite a lot since the early days. Modern fingerprint powders contain various compounds that did not even exist when fingerprint powders were invented (making them far more sensitive), and are usually applied using special soft fiberglass brushes, which do less damage to the fingerprints. When a fingerprint has not yet been detected, it's known as a "latent print" (latent for short). Modern science has found many other ways to detect latents, however. When you touch an object, the chemicals in your sweat may be absorbed into that object (paper is a good example of this), and there are now chemicals which can develop these latents quite nicely. Even paper, which has been soaking wet, can now be successfully examined for fingerprints, using advanced chemicals. The Laser has been a great boon to law enforcement officials as well, due to its ability to detect certain fingerprints. Some types of Lasers cause chemicals in some fingerprints to "fluoresce" or glow, which allows them to be photographed as evidence. There are also dyes that can be sprayed on pieces of evidence to help fingerprints to be more visible to the Laser. The Laser has been extremely useful in obtaining fingerprints from human bodies, a feat that was nearly impossible only a few years ago. Many surfaces, which were difficult to obtain useable fingerprint from in the past, are now routinely examined successfully due to all of these scientific advances.

Thanks....great and simple explanation!!

Hey Co-Chair Capp!  We need to get our stories straight.  How about a quick side-bar?

Regarding the newly reinstated DP charges, lets think about why the State feels compelled at this time to do it.

1)  The State is pushing for a plea.
2)  The State is afraid of exculpatory evidence coming
3)  The State feels they have a very strong case, and want to fry KC
4)  The State wants Baez off of the case.

I am inclined to go with 3 mainly because the evidence has changed since they last had the DP on the table.  They have found the body, they have found additional incriminating evidence at the scene, and they may have forensic evidence of abuse (drugging, etc.).  No jury in the would have convicted for DP without a body and/or cause of death.

I also think that they would take a plea.  This is shaping up to be a long drawn out costly affair.  If they were comfortable with LWOP before, why not plea to it now and save time, effort, and dollars?

I do not agree with LP that there is something coming out that will give the defense an advantage.  Regardless of who phoned whom, the fact remains that all evidence points to the slore.  I believe the State is comforatable with these distractions.

I do believe that the State would not be upset if Baez is thrown off of the case.  I believe they realize the chance of appeal is high with him around.  By forcing him to second chair, the appeal problem is diminished.

Now co-chair, are you mentally ready to assist me in putting the slore to death?
Hmmmm, you mispelled comfortable...... just sayin.

Dolce, you are absolutelt correct!!
My idea of a mosquito may be someone else's idea of a dragonfly
Don't show them a palmetto bug, they might think our roaches are on steroids!!

I had a run in with a palmetto bug once when visiting a friend down in FL. That was no roach on steroids, that thing was a small bird! It flew around her kitchen, scared the cr@p out of me!!

I keep getting booted out and can't get back in. I was trying to say I saw my big, brave DH run from one of those Palmetto bugs on the tips of his toes when we lived in Fl. Not on tip-toe, but on the very tips of his bare toes. I didn't even know that was possible.

I have been booted off so many times today, I lost count  I'm thinking that the prosecutors to go forward with the death penalty, I'm thinking soil on boots/shoes, fingerprints on duct tape, and on sticker, garbage bags perhaps fingerprints, but at least match the box or roll at the Anthonys. But one thing I have been thinking since Caylee's remains were found and the duct tape. I'm thinking that the duct tape was placed on Caylee's mouth before she died, and that Caylee's tongue indentations are on the tape trying with her tongue to get the duct tape loose and off her mouth. They would be able to tell whether the duct tape was placed before or after death, and with the confidence the prosecutors are showing, and the wording that they used in their filing yesterday, tells me perhaps that is what happened.
