I wrote some notes while watching.  This movie jumped around from place to place very fast.  I also had trouble catching names of some characters.  Feel free to edit, add, critique .. etc., it was fast and difficult.  USE OF NAME JULIA, JACOBS OR SUCH IS BY ME, THE MOVIE USED FICTIOUS NAMES for ones other than known suspects, old or present.   I did not get all names, moved too quickly. 

**Coming on with Joran in car being taped. Actor playing Patrick is skinny faced and looks nothing like him, but they have put a scar on his face.
Now as Mt.Brook, man speaking to the students about the trip. Beth sitting with Natalee in group, and he advises that drinking age is 18.
They talk about money, graduation gift from father. Then shopping and Natalee wanting a bathing suit. Beth gives in .. talk her wanting to be a doctor. Jug coming in, Natalee asks how he likes her dress, he asks if trying to impress girls or boys. He asks what her father might think about such a short dress and Beth says what he doesn't know won't hurt him. Talks of what it might take to get in a sorority.
With friends they talk and giggle about boys. Then B and N talking about prom, warning about drinking.. N telling her not drinking, wait til Aruba for that . joking around .. N telling B how she wishes she had a "real" date for prom.
Now graduation and photo taking. Jumps to morning and N waking B, afraid she will be late getting to her friends. Now in front of friends house, they talk a bit, both wish a good time, N in Aruba and B at the Lake, a hug, a I love you and N ringing doorbell of friends house and going in. She looks back and enters. ...... Off to Aruba .. bus to hotel, entering hotel, all the girls so excited.
Girls in hotel room, jumping on beds. Gazing out the door at how close to the pool. Some rum out and jump in the pool with clothes on. Now in a bar dancing. Showing a boy doing a jelly shot on the bar, they laugh, show ones saying want a body shot, show man coming up and grinding up against her, a friend telling him to back off.
Goes to Beth and friends at the lake. They tell her they expected her to be crawled up in a ball with N gone. She says still got Matt and N is a piece of work. Enjoying her break.
Back to N and friends, N had too much to drink, or got sick from drinking and not even noon. They are goading her into drinking again. Come on, they coach and she does.
Now back in casino.
Joran at table. Girl by him puts hand on him and says is helping win her money back. She touches him again excited when she wins. N is watching and smiling. They talk of CnC and he tells not much on Sunday. Shows N go to him and say its our last night, you should come.
Joran calls friend, says won at blackjack, we're going out tonight Bitch.
Shows him walk in cnc and girls are dancing, they laugh and wave, friend says you like him, she says he has nice hair. Now he is getting drinks for them, Says two shots, can you handle this. He looks at guys on side of him, pulls something from pocket and puts in drink. She drinks and then something else from a bottle. She asks him if he wants to do body shot and he helps her on bar.
Friends watching her with Joran say theres hope for her after all
He does body shot, they show them like a romantic look as he helps her from the stage.
Jumps to Beth waking like something wrong.
Goes to Deepak and Satish car, chicks ride home ... N friends outside and seeing her get in car. She tells them she is going back to her hotel and yells Aruba
Time to go, bus leaves in an hour. 3 girls in the room. Talk of where have you been, I look horrible, was Natalee with you guys? Maybe crashed in Leanns room, will go check on her.
Jumps to Beth and friends leaving and she gets call from Jerry from school. They are at the cottage, not on the road.
Jumps to airport and chaperone putting kids on plane. Some not wanting to leave but he tells he cannot rebook because one is late. Assures she will show up and will get her on a flight, cannot let others miss the plane. He takes the backpack from a friend and puts them on the plane .. girls from room.
Beth in car trying to call Natalee on phone. Asks to call back if gets the message. Has cop behind them. B says not pulling over and speeds up. Calls 911 and informs on highway and her girl kidnapped and to tell cops to back off. Friends beg her to pull over. She does.
cop pulls a gun on them. says kidnapped asks for help.
back to the house. Jug with B and he B says talked with Haylee and she left with 3 in car. Jug on phone, they have friend with plane. B talks with Matt and he talked with Dave, tells B he said he would go there tomorrow. They hug and she and Jug leave.
Now at Aruba with chaperone. Not found, police won't look til gone 48 hrs. B is showing her picture in hotel.
Black man comes to them. B tells N missing and with Jeron, or such. Black man says is Joran, not a tourist, a local and lives not far from here.
Now at Sloot home. Police come and B says can give names of witness who saw her in his car. Cop says not here to investigate. Get answers, not worry. He turns siren on. Paulus coming out.
At Sloot house, Paulus comes out. Joran pulling up in car with K
Dad whats going on. Jug shows pic and asks where she is. Said seen in car with you. Yes, that is girl drinking with at bar. She asked for ride to hotel.
B runs from car, J tells him to go to hotel and show where. P tells J he doesn't have to do anything, tells J he has no jurisdiction here.
J tells story and has it like N is drunk and falls out of car and is on ground crying. A guard comes and helps her up. B telling him wants her back, J saying what do you want me to do. Paulus says we're thru .. cop supports saying P is a judge and doesn't want to piss him off.
Now in N hotel room. Black guy puts backpack on the bed and B relives their talk of having the best time. Sees cell phone is there. Realizes it didn't work here, no intl. calling on it. She gets upset knowing she has no phone. Jug reminds her of how strong N is. Very supportive.
now B and J sitting in police station. cop says another tourist misses flight.
shows fat guy, Jacobs .. J asks if cops know what happened, yea yea, I will be wanting to ask somequestions but first must eat my frosted flakes and shave and he walks away. frumpy looking
b and j still waiting, she wonders how much longer and a cop comes in door and goes right by them. ignored. she says this is unbearable and goes to the receptionist desk. says waiting 2 hrs don't anyone understand. lady says i can try him on his cell. he answers and says tell them we wont need them today.
they have joran at table with them. paulus also there, jacobs, another cop and paulus.
b and j leaving, a lady approaches .. julia ... ?? fake name, says she has a 16 yr old daughter, let me help you
shows k bros. in car, driving sees them, says thats the mother, this is a nightmare.
shows dave arrive, shakes hands with j and hugs b. not a very nice looking man playing dave. a lady comes in and is with govn. and she says tourists get lost, get in choller houses, crackhouses, not all voluntarily, some taken there and held til accounts used up. dave says told not to let her go. beth eye look. woman promises will find her. panning around island showing b puttting up posters.
on stores, windows, trees, posters ... back to jacobs and a kalpoe, k says a friend yelled for her to get out of car, a girl yelling and she hollers aruba and n falls in j arms. k says drunk and he says shut up, she wants to go. n laughing and saying wants to see sharks. shows satish nod ok to deepak, j and n kissing ...
back to beth in lot of c n c asking if seen natalee. most ignoring her. j wants her to go to hotel and eat something. she won't. she gets a phone call. rush to a seen by an anchor on the street corner, sees a blonde there, but is not natalee. she cries.
shows the beach, locals walking shoulder to shoulder with sticks. Dave wiping eyes and putting sunglasses on. Jacobs with B and Jug. Asks color hair and eyes, does she have seizure or epilepsy history. Why, thought wanted to ask about JVDS. Locals often claim to be tourists, jacobs says, to meet girls and have some fun. He says all their statements agree, just had some fun. they are tracking security guards, maybe saw her get in another car or wander off, tourists do this all the time.
to kalpoes, says told ? all about it and he asked me if i got a pc of it and he says i told him yeah, hands down in my pants. now showing them in a car with dvd playing, natalee seeming really drugged, says you got a dvd in your car, are you rich. they say really rich. hear groaning from movie, k tells bro. to turn it off. shows jvds putting hands up her skirt, d looks away and s smiles.
not at lighthouse, friend carol and others arrive. reporter, Diana, introduced to them by beth, says she's been amazing. Diana says going to stay on this, shows a memorial made of a stick with beads and such on it, initials. beth tells friends shes here somewhere, alive.
shows ngrace show opn tv. Beth and Carol, Dave and all in room. B on phone talking of media and Diana/Julia or angela saying found shes in a choller house and will release for 4000.
the men are in choller house. one pulls a gun. b on outside and sees camera crew, she yells at diana about the camera crew and she tells her this story is big, its huge. Beth yells at her, you're a liar. you lied to us. B and J get in the car and cameras are in their face. she questions why don't you answer my prayer .....
back to home and friends putting up yellow ribbons. one girl says i invited that guy to the club, if not for me, another says not your fault, stop.
matt at home watching ngrace show on case. he was going to eat but threw his food in trash. he appeared alone.
they are watching hotel video with a cop. beth says stop, j says its not natalee, nbot her, its hayley. beth says keep going, maybe they brught her back later. more cars and kids getting from cabs. beth said they lied, those boys, they didn't bring her back here.
kalpoe with joran says shouldn't have told ?? he told his parents and they talked to police .. freddy?
now car is stopped. shows joran get out and go around and pull out a very drugged n fromt he car and start walking away from car. k asks how you get home and he says walk, whatever.
beth and carol being combarded by media. carol asks them to get out word of 100000 for safe return and 50 g for info to find her.
b and j back to cops, ask about blood on a mattress, they call the cop snyder .... lady cop tells them blood was from a dog.
b and j go looking for cop. see paulus outside bldg through a window hugging and shaking hands with a cop. they are shocked, say they are friends, they are protecting his son.
2 cops being told commander wants to see right away. jumps to jacobs and cop telling paulus prime minister complaining .. this as joran is arrested.
carol and beth talking of all the media appearances.. grace, greta, etc.
beth is interviewed on tv by a very pretty greta ......lol.
beth speaks strongly about joran and how he described her underwear, how she believes j2k kidnapped, drugged, raped, etc...
matt on phone with beth, says weird 10 days no arrest them? he asks mom if thinks she is still okay and beth gets emotional and then asks how he is, if he is eating, he doesnt feel like eating, he is watching the news coverage, says look like jerks, why would she go with any of them.
jacobs with joran, telling him fbi and everybody gonna be here .. i know you are a good kid, are friends gonna be loyal to you, do you know what they did to that girl, if did,time to open your mouth .
jumps to them taking the walk on beach, he tells were her making out. no sex.. then shows j and n and he asks if she likes him, they are kissing, he asks do you want to do it, she says i don't know, asks him about protection, he falls backwards and assures her he isn't mad .. he had no protection ....... this was joran to police story.
now they lay on the beach and she asks him to stay with her, he says can't has school. she is asleep or passed out and he callsdeepak and says needs him to come for him. she is passed out. jacobs says don't say called dk if didn't cause we can ck phone records.
joran gets in kalpoe car, left shoes. will get them later. joran said he told his friend he had his hands on her, they ask what do you think happened. joran said thinks he came back and raped and killed her, buried her somewhere.
shows kalpoe in police station, julia? sitting by him and says you want some gum? he takes the gum. says i want an interview and in exchange i will tell you what joran is telling the police.
kalpoe goes ballistic and screaming he didn't touch her. police attend him.
shows dave and jug and talk of these statements they have seen. jug says we don't wait we go get these guys. dave is quiet, holds head, he tells beth he may lose his job, leaving, never coming back here. she says i know. shows dave getting in a cab,
beth being miked up for prime minister interview. says he says talks to me every day and i haven't even met him. carol tells her she spoke with fbi and they say boys pointing fingers and they are pretty sure she is not alive. beth collapses into a chair. carol apologizes that they are making her be one to tell her. in 30 sec. she had to go live on tv
beth gets in a taxi and asks to go to church chapel to talk with god. male cab driver. shows crosses. she asks him to pull over.
she begs to have her back.
emotional portrayal. gets into cab and says my little girl is with god now, she's in god's hands.
kalpoe telling cop where j and n got out of car. ask of time and he said no statement on that, says you ask same questions and am sick of it, if i say anything a little different you say i am lying.
cop said just tell what he said when he called that night, joran saying walking home, she gave a happy ending though, that he left her on the beach, what kind of guy are you ?? then phone breaking up of Jorans, says will call when gets home.
jacobs with joran, says deepak was on computer when you said he gave you a ride home. joran said i said satish got me. shows joran and satish in car, laughing that he just ditched her, shows paulus standing in the room, sort of a nod to joran.
beth asking what fbi said and learns fbi never really let in on investigation. i am not sure who this woman is supposed to be. she says venezuela working with them, on the sex slave thing. says fbi says have to rule it out. b says those 3 bastards could end this torture but they don't give a damn.
goes to beth speaking and asking all nations to not let kalpoe brothers enter your country til this case is solved. do not let these criminals .... etc. in name of my beautiful intelligent outstanding daughter .....etc. speech.
carol says wish you hadn't done that. she says locals aren't going to like it. beth disagrees. jug asks her aren't you supposed to be on our side. she said no sides, this is just a mess, why are you on tv every 2 min saying bad things about aruba. beth said only avenue shes got. carol says things i don't care. i defended natalee when they said drunk and on crack, i defended and this is thanks i get. ...... I think this was the carol character ... same one who told her what fbi said.
showing a demonstration anti beth, showing julia character smug looking in the crowd. beth walks thru crowd and on. shows julia and beth locking eyes thru window.
shows j2k in police van, j telling k they know what happened, k's saying you know truth, the bicker back and forth .. cops open the door and they step out. jacobs uncuffs the kalpoes. said judge signed order for your release. joran holds up wrists and jacobs says not you joran.
note .. I refer to a Carol .. not sure of name .. a State Dept. person ?
beth at deepaks work. asking for a copy, he says want a color one. yes, natalee's graduation pic, she goes on of how raise, rock, care, love, etc., beautiful and happy ,, etc. did you try to help natalee deepak or did you just sit there and watch while she struggled for life. you said she had hands in your pants, did you hold her down while joran raped her .... she puts a natalee bracelet on his wrist. she tells him she has lots more photos and will be back every day til tells what they did with her daughter.
beth alone on beach, jug joins her. she has a letter from deepak attorney saying she harassed and will press chgs. if she goes there again.
jug tells beth judge ruled not enough to hold joran. shows joran with paulus coming out smiling. arm around him.
back to them on beach, she says thats it, whatever we do, they wont get the truth. she cries, rips up the letter. doesn't know if she can live without natalee, doesn't think she can. shows image of natalee in bikini running along beach. fades to commercial.
fenced yard, paulus telling of going to amsterdam, joran going to study law like I did ..... joran being miked up, says will tell everything that happened there.
shows j and n at beach. she says he is first guy ever kissed who made her heart beat like crazy. he says should go home, walk you back? she wants stay the night, look at stars. shows both as fine, no drinking etc. shows him picking her up and she squealing like to put him down. he tells of being satish and not deepak who picked him up .... this is tv interview ... showing beth watching this in disbelief.
she says thats it, am getting a lawyer and gonna file a wrongful death suit on him, if aruba won't maybe american judge will.
jug says you know what his lawyers will say, k's went back and got or others did, or on her own drowned .... b says not what happened. jug says how do you know. she wants them squeezed for truth. she says natalee worth it, he says i am not talking about natalee's worth here, she says don't talk about it at all, is my decision.
goes to joran in bar and patrick goes up to him saying hello murderer. patrick sits down at table and joran comes to him.
patrick calls him girl killer.

beth is home. matt working at table on schoolwork and trying to not listen to mom and jug arguing. about moving on. she can't. she says he tries to stop her from finding out what happened, of this fear trapped in her of what happened to her, maybe if your daughter you could understand that. he looks hurt and says he misses her too. she apologizes. said knows its not nice but is how i feel.
matt comes to beth as she sits in natalees room. asks him how was his first day in 11th? grade. he said people stared at him.
goes to patrick and joran in car, he calls him girl killer and j says stop calling him that, want to hear what happened to her and p says no, talks of mtg a drug dealer.
goes to beth and matt moving into another place, he doesn't understand, don't you love each other, yes she says, is why we are doing this for each other. matt says i don't think natalee would understand this, beth says well then she shouldn't have got in the car with jvds. matt looks hurt and walks off, beth apologizes saying didn't mean it.
goes to joran looking said and paulus asking whats wrong, he says i did something stupid.
goes to j and patrick in car again. the secret taping.
goes to beth getting call from peter devries. he tells her of his investigation and wants her to come to holland soon as possible.
beth with peter, cameras rolling on them. he tells of patrick and joran tape. prepares her will be difficult. shows patrick by camera as tape is played and they watch.
joran and patrick talk in english. she's dead isn't she, joran says you think i killed her .. laughs .
goes to them at beach, she is very drugged and as he kisses her she goes in seizure. he acts it out on tape. shows her laying still on beach. joran calling her name, asking if all right, he says talkin to her, she says nothing, nothing, not ticking any more. actress has real tears.
he says i grabbed her arms. shows him drag her by the arms into bushes, kicking up the sand where drug to cover tracks. she is lying alone in bushes and he is on phone asking someone to come meet him from hotel grounds. then joran on beach with man, says friend says yeah she's dead. has joran telling patrick not gonna tell who. not his father, a really good firend. shows carrying her by arms and legs and laying her in a boat and boat sails away, a small skiff with outboard motor. says he told me to go to school and act like nothing happened. patrick says your father, he denies, says took her out, not weighted down and that is why he is so lucky she wasn't found. j telling p kalpoes stupid, know nothing. j says only thing he didn't expect was that mother bitch pain in ass turning into a circus. he tells patrick it didn't look good, is possible still alive. they show her hand as if it may have moved. beth gets all emotional and hyper and crying over thought she could have been alive.
patrick comes out, she tells him got it all, every bit of it. patrick said i don't think so, not telling everything. peter also, talk of maybe drugging explaining the seizure. patrick tells joran said lied and made all up. beth says no, think is over, is the end, is what i prayed for, to know. i just needed to know.
goes to beth at home talking to jug about snyder asking about seizures.
goes to joran and paulus at home.
beth thinking joran told of seizure.
shows kalpoes watching joran tape looking disgusted.
beth back home. matt feeling peace in her voice. they hug.
beth speaking at school. slideshow of natalee in beths presentation. she speaks of her feeling safe, safe doing what everyone else was doing, having fun, celebrating with friends, not recognizing danger that came in her path. danger not what you expect, must keep guard up.
reshowing natalee with joran happy walking away from c n c. beth saying never get in a car with a stranger no matter how safe you feel. don't do it, please don't do it.
shows poster on tree of aruba, saying we want you to come home. we want all of you to come home.

I'm sorry you didn't get to see the movie, but in a way I think it may have been a blessing in disguise.  I've felt sick every since I finished watching it.  Don't get me wrong, it is well worth watching.  But a lot of things in it, especially things that are depicted as happening as Joran said they happened...bothered me.  Something tells me the same things would probably have bothered you too.  Tracy Pollan did an excellent portrayal of Beth in my opinion.  I'm really glad the story has been told even if I didn't like some things about it.

Me, too, Klaas.  I am not sure I could keep up with all the fashion and hair requirements alone.  I think boys are easier.  Besides, that's just something mothers say so they wont miss their kids too much when they go to school, that they are relieved, etc.

Casa, when I indicated that they showed Joran's coverup, it was in reference to this sentence of yours:  They didn't show any cover up by any others than the LE of Aruba.

IMO, it makes sense that they would incorporate Patricks tapes, as the show with that information officially aired via the MSM prior to the movie.

IDK but at one time she said she would write a second one based more on the evidence and less on her personal experience.  I hope she is.  I have always wanted so to know what is in her journal, etc. and she and Greta did one show on that then stopped.

I will say that some of the portrayals did surprise me, if you know what I mean.

The actress playing Natalee, I think, did a terrific job bringing her to life on the screen.  My hope tonight is that there were no disappointing surprises for Beth in watching it, and that it represents the story the way she wanted to tell it.

And my prayers go out for Matt.  God Bless that young man.

patrick comes out, she tells him got it all, every bit of it. patrick said i don't think so, not telling everything. peter also, talk of maybe drugging explaining the seizure. patrick tells joran said lied and made all up. beth says no, think is over, is the end, is what i prayed for, to know. i just needed to know.
goes to beth at home talking to jug about snyder asking about seizures.

I think it is ridiculous how Glenda at RU is comparing Beth's allowing Natalee to go to Aruba to leaving a small child in a car or dropping an elementary school or kindergartener off at a Pizza Hut.

On second thought, maybe this is her way of indicating that she thinks Aruba is less safe than one would normally think, and perhaps she is equating the safeness of Aruba to that of leaving a small child alone in a car.
