Police were called when the father of the child noticed the boy was gone when to pick up the boy at the Boys and Girls Club on Lions Gate Road.
In a surveillance video, the boy was seen leaving the school at 400 W. Stan Schlueter Loop with two family members, police said.

KILLEEN - Police are investigating the abduction of 8-year-old James Dupree Lynch Jr., who was last seen at an elementary school with a family member about 7:20 Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the 5500 block of Lions Gate, when Lynch Jr.'s father was told his son never showed up to the Boys and Girls Club.

After viewing video from Reeses Creek Elementary School, police say the child was seen leaving with two family members.

Police say there is no reason to believe the boy is in danger of being harmed at this time.

James Dupree Lynch Jr. wears his hair in an afro and wears glasses. He is approximately three feet and six inches tall, and weighs about 50 pounds. James was last seen wearing dark gray sweat pants, and a long sleeved red shirt.

He is a first grader at the Reeses Creek Elementary School.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen James, or recognize the people he is with, to call Crime Stoppers at 254-526-TIPS (8477).

I wonder why James Lynch Jr. left with two family members?  His Dad must be worried enough to call the police.   It sounds like the Dad had care of this young man.   I wonder what this is about?

Missing Child Returned
to Authorities

- An 8-year-old boy, who was missing from Killen, Texas, is now in state custody in Fulton County.

James Dupree Lynch Jr. was picked up at his Texas elementary school Thursday by his grandfather, 52-year-old Stanley Fletcher. Police said Fletcher was identified in a surveillance video at his grandson's school Thursday morning.

Authorities believe Fletcher and his daughter picked up little James because the child's parents are embroiled in a custody dispute.

John Lynch, the child's other grandfather, said he believes the child's mother is with Fletcher. His son is stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas and has full custody of his son, James.

Fletcher turned himself in Friday.

Fulton officials are working with Texas police to determine who has legal custody.
