I am watching our local news at this moment, I caught an alert regarding yet another rise in our unemployment figures earlier today. What I am hearing from a state economist in this broadcast is more than sobering.......

- Our state lost 17,000 jobs in February but lost 34,000 in March? We have a little over 4M in employable personnel in our state.

- It also appears that the unemployment rate does not capture individuals who have lost their jobs but did not make applications for that month for new jobs. Now that might sound as if they are lazy but as this economist pointed out, the number of new jobs to apply for has diminished by over half. So he feels the 'true' unemployment rate is actually around 25% more than what is reported.

-They are featuring a lovely woman who lost her job 21 months ago, she is articulate but over 50. She hasn't found a job yet.........

I don't think she's alone either, not by a long shot.

One of the survivors from the Hudson River plane crash just lost his job as an attorney, his firm (premier firm in NYC) has laid off a significant amount since the crash.

At times I now wonder if it might take years to rebuild our job base and I want to know what Obama plans to do about that asap.
