From Resignation
by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

She is not dead, – the child of our affection, –
   But gone unto that school
Where she no longer needs our poor protection,
   And Christ himself doth rule.

In the great cloister’s stillness and seclusion,
   By guardian angels led,
Safe from temptation, safe from sin’s pollution,
   She lives, who we call dead.

Day after day we think what she is doing
   In those bright realms of air;
Year after year her tender steps pursuing,
   Behold her grown more fair.

Thus do we walk with her, and keep unbroken
   The bond which nature gives,
Thinking that our remembrance, though unspoken,
   May reach her where she lives.

Not as a child shall we again behold her;
   For when with raptures wild
In our embraces we again enfold her,
   She will not be a child;

But a fair maiden, in her Father’s mansion,
   Clothed with celestial grace;
And beautiful with all the soul’s expansion
   Shall we behold her face.

Michael Schumacher and Kelly Lau are accused of torturing a teenager who lived with them. A Tracy couple accused of ritualistically torturing a boy.

Edit:  Adding a link here for background.  I'm not certain what news source you used Edward, but this is one I found when I researched the two names.  MuffyBee

Tightly Knit Community Plans Memorial for "Tracy's Angel"

Updated 10:30 AM PST, Tue, Feb 16, 2010

It's a day family and friends should be celebrating a little girl's ninth birthday, but instead they'll be gathering to remember her short life.

Family members of Sandra Cantu will gather March 8 to remember the young Central Valley girl whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase in an irrigation pond almost a year ago.

A cousin of Sandra's mother is planning the family gathering as a way for the family to focus on their love for the little girl and thank volunteers who aided in the search in 10 the following her disappearance.

"This is something simple," Janet Anderson told the Tracy Press, "that might be a good way of not concentrating on such a horrible time, but what she represents."

Just as they did after Sandra disappeared, the community is coming together to pitch in on the celebration.

Sunday school teacher Melissa Huckaby is charged with kidnapping, rape, murder and lewd and lacivious acts on a child stemming from Sandra's death in the case that grabbed national headlines.

Sandra Cantu's family plans birthday ceremony

By The Record
February 22, 2010 12:00 AM

TRACY - The family of Sandra Cantu is planning a memorial ceremony on March 8, which would have been her ninth birthday.

Sandra disappeared while playing in front of her home at Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park last March and was found dead in a nearby irrigation pond days later. Melissa Huckaby, a neighbor whose own daughter befriended Sandra, is charged with kidnapping, raping and murdering the girl.

The memorial is scheduled for 7 p.m. March 8 at Robert Kenner Park, 1850 Kavanaugh Ave. The park is home to a tree and plaque installed in Sandra's honor. It's also next to Jacobson Elementary School, where she attended.

 Sandra Cantu news: Family of murdered Northern California girl plan birthday memorial
February 28, 11:57 PM Crime Examiner Cindy Adams

According to the family of murdered 8-year-old, Sandra Cantu, she would want everyone to be happy on the day that would have been her ninth birthday.

On Mar. 8, her family will celebrate her memory at Robert Kenner Park, located near Jacobson Elementary where Sandra attended school, according to the Tracy Press.

The one-year anniversary of Sandra’s disappearance—Mar. 27, 2009—is approaching rapidly and her relatives want the memorial to be a small public get-together in order to take their mind off the horrific death of the little girl. Instead of dwelling on her murder, the family wants to celebrate the love they have for Sandra.

A cousin of Sandra’s mother, Janet Anderson, said “This is something simple that might be a good way of not concentrating on such a horrible time, but what she represents.”

During the ceremony, Tracy Police Chaplain Don Higgins will speak and cupcakes that have been donated by a local business will be served to attendees, according to the Tracy Press.

Higgins said “Sandra was the epitome, in a lot of people’s minds, of innocence, and that which we need to protect… I think it really speaks to how this community views children and that we’re willing to go to great extremes to take care of them, protect them and watch out for them.”

Melissa Huckaby, a Sunday school teacher who was a neighbor of the Cantu family, is accused of murdering and raping the Tracy, Calif. girl.

Huckaby allegedly kidnapped Sandra on Mar. 27, raped her, and then murdered her. Authorities believe she then stuffed Sandra’s lifeless body inside a suitcase and placed it near a drained irrigation ditch, which was discovered on Apr. 6.

According to reports, Huckaby is due in court for a readiness hearing on Mar. 29.

If convicted of Sandra’s murder, she could face the death penalty. Huckaby’s murder trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 18.

Oh no, I despise the word "legal technicalities"

In 2009, when BEHAR had decided to tell the media the day after SAnra's funeral that we wanted to dig her up for a 2nd autopsy, I did some reasearch on him (SAM BEHAR) and dicovered some old news reports about what BEHAR's colleagues had reported about his "professionalism" (lack of) long before his taking the CANTU case. I posted the quote on Blink I think, or here, but I can't find it. BEHAR basically was reported to be absolutely unethical in his ruthlessness to do whatever he could - unethical - to win a case, including something like "selling his mother", "lying to his mother" or something reported horrible he would do to his mother - anything - even the most vile - to win a case. It was reportedly Behar's OWN WORDS.  I can't find the reference anymore (of course, scrubbed?)

Can someone help, it would be posted under sweetie-pi. I am pretty sure it was Blink, but it was in forum mode, not just add a comment mode. I want to make sure that legitimate sourced quote goes far and wide especially now.

Thanks.
