Love your cakes Monken!  You are so talented.  You could go into business and ship the cakes frozen.  All you need is a real good freezer

Thanks Klaas! You know, I've had someone suggest that & I'm going to try it out on a relative first to see how it turns out! It would have to be shipped in a cooler or something to keep it from thawing.

Bearly...I know that wine goes good with dinner...lol...boy do  I know that one! lol...

Monken.....the orange slice cake turned out really good...everyone really liked it...
I think that you should go into business too with your cakes...do you remember reading about a woman who was going to lose her home through foreclosure I think it was and she started making and selling her cakes from her kitchen....applesauce cakes? anyways, she not only saved herself from losing her home, but she turned it into a really successful business...You could do the same! I was tempted to order one of her cakes and I still may do that if I can find the article on her again...I would order one of your cakes and have it shipped to me! you should check into it..She started out just making and selling them to family and friends and word spread!

I have been so hungry for chocolate cake...Hubs and I started a "diet" today ....trying to lose a few pounds before we go on our cruise the end of this month! can't imagine getting into a swim suit after all the cookies and sweets from Christmas...
I am hoping that my whim to have chocolate cake will go away soon or I may have to cheat and this is the first day of the "diet"!

Hey Cookie, I'm so glad the orange slice cake was a hit!
Was the woman you're talking about on Oprah? I don't usually watch Oprah but I do remember seeing something like that on her show. And sometimes there are stories like that in the Parade that comes in the Sunday paper. Anyway, it sounds like a great idea, I just have to figure out how to ship mine frozen & keep them that way while shipped. Klaas memtioned freezing them, too. The only problem is the cost to ship that way & the cake would have to be in some kind of styrofoam container. I'm going to try to ship one to a relative first to see how it turns out!! Thank you so much, Cookie!!! Love You!!!

Oh, & before i forget, I am going to attempt to make my own fondant. I have had so many people ask me about making fondant cakes but the pre-made fondant that you can buy tastes horrible!! i made a birthday cake before for my daughter using that fondant & it was awful! So the only way i will do it is if I make my own. I read an article the other day that stated the same thing about packaged fondant but it said if you make your own it is great! So that's what I'm going to try to do. i already have the recipe & it's not hard at all. Wish me luck; I don't know when I'll do it but it will be soon! Love you all!!

Monken wishing you luck with your fondant. But I know you will be able to make it without any problems. My daughter use to make her own when she would make cakes for the family. I am looking forward to seeing your transformer cake.
