The Jaap and Joran are disgusting scum of the earth.  This is Joran making his spending money off of Natalee on the upcoming 4th anniversary of her murder.  I hope same as Anna that Jaap has to eat this and not make a dime off it.

I guess my worst fears have materialized. An annual pay day for the goon child every May. Just sickening.  On the money he "receives" (and living in Thailand) even if it's just ten thousand - that's enough to keep him doped up and a frig full of cheap Thai beer. A very nice couple with three young children moved in to our neighbourhood about one year ago.  The husand is a police officer in a detachment in a neighbouring community.

Last Thursday a liquor store outlet was robbed.  Two teenages were caught on sucurity camera.  The young boys did turn themselves into authorities.  My neighbour was assigned to the case yesterday.  He was about to drive to the address provided in a attempt to question one of the youth when he recognized the address as one about a mile away from his residence.  As police officers are required to report any potential conflicts of interest ... he determined that this just might be considered a conflict of interest although he did not know the youth or his family.  Long story short ... to be on the safe side ... his superior made the decision to assign another officer to the case.

How in the heck can Aruba get away with all the conflicts of interest that abounded in the Natalee Holloway case from the get go.

Van der Sloot father hindered Natalee probe’

Dutchman Jan van der Straten, who the Caribbean island of Aruba when US teenager Natalee Holloway disappeared, seriously hindered the investigation in the first few days, Aruban justice minister Rudy Croes is quoted as saying by news agency ANP.

ANP says Croes claims Van der Straten was slow to take action in order to help his friend Paul van der Sloot protect his son Joran, who was suspected of being involved in the disappearance. Such rumours have circulated on the island for some time, ANP says.

According to ANP, Croes made the statement following criticism of the Aruban police force made by Van der Straten earlier this week.
Questioning

Croes said that Joran and two other suspects were only taken in for questioning 10 days after Holloway went missing ‘when the first days are crucial in a disappearance’. And he claims he heard Van der Straten say ‘I cannot do that to my friend Paul’.
 
Croes also claims there were a lot of telephone conversations between Van der Sloot senior and Van der Straten and that a ‘second class’ police team was put on the investigation. ‘It was the team used during the carnival celebrations,’ ANP reports him as saying.

In addition, Croes accuses the Dutch government of failing to provide any moral support to Aruba. He says the Aruban authorities were pressurised to present Joran van der Sloot as an Aruban, not a Dutch national.

2.  In August, 2006 Rudy Croes requested a Dutch investigation of the Natalee Holloway case under the control of Netherlands' Internal Affairs Minister Johan Remkes.

Aruba wants Dutch police to take over Natalee case

ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) — Aruban authorities want Dutch police to take over the investigation of the disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway, who vanished on the Caribbean island more than one year ago, a local newspaper reported Friday.  Aruba's Justice Minister Rudy Croes sent a letter last week to Netherlands' Internal Affairs Minister Johan Remkes and to another Dutch official asking the Dutch police to handle the case, saying little progress had been made, the Solo di Pueblo newspaper reported.

If Dutch police take over the investigation, they will have access to all case files and their own office, according to the newspaper, which didn't cite its source. Remkes will visit the Dutch Caribbean islands, including Aruba, next week, authorities said in the Netherlands.

Telephone calls placed to Croes' office for comment Friday went unanswered.

Holloway vanished on May 30, 2005, the last night of a high school graduation trip to Aruba. Then 18, the native of Mountain Brook was last seen leaving a bar with three young men.

Authorities have arrested eight people in connection with her disappearance and then released them for lack of evidence.

US holds court in Trinidad, seven on trial for murder

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad -- The trial of seven Trinidadians in Washington DC for the kidnap/murder of US citizen, Balram ‘Balo’ Maharaj, shifts to Trinidad this week to take evidence from eight to ten witnesses who cannot travel to the US for the case.

The Trinidad Guardian reported that lawyers for the prosecution and the defence, as well as their investigators, arrived in the country over the weekend for the Trinidad leg of the trial.

The only person not in Port of Spain as yet is the trial judge, John Bates, who is expected later this week.

The Trinidad witnesses will give their evidence in chief and will be cross examined by the defence lawyers. This will be video-taped and will be shown to the jury at the appropriate time in the Washington court.

These witnesses for some reason cannot travel to the US to give evidence. So, the court decided to sit in Trinidad, take the evidence and have it fully ventilated in the US. The court is being held at a secret location in Port of Spain, the Guardian was informed. When the testimony of the witnesses has been completed, the parties will return to Washington and prepare for the start of the trial, with selection of the jury.

Maharaj, a born Trinidadian but a US citizen, was kidnapped outside the Samaan Tree Bar in Aranguez, Trinidad, on April 5, 2005. A ransom of $3 million was demanded. No money was paid and Maharaj was never seen alive again. On January 8, 2006, his body was found in parts in two containers in the Santa Cruz forest.

As a result, 11 people, including Maharaj's former common-law wife, Doreen Alexander-Durity, were arrested and charged and committed to stand trial at the Assizes in Port of Spain. Eight of these have been extradited to the US, leaving just three to face trial at the Port of Spain Assizes.
