Anthonys Off Conference Agenda Due To Threats

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- George and Cindy were scheduled to be keynote speakers at the Melanie Ilene Rieger's memorial conference next month in Connecticut. However, Eyewitness News discovered Thursday that the Anthonys were taken off the agenda after the organizers received hate mail and threats.

Rieger was a college student who was murdered by her boyfriend in 1994. The conference is meant to help the families of murder victims.

Cindy and George Anthony face constant criticism for choosing to support Casey. After telling investigators about Casey's lies, how she stole from the family and even from Caylee's piggy bank, the Anthonys are now dodging questions about whether they fault Casey for anything at all.

The Anthonys appeared on national television for the second day in a row Thursday to talk about their daughter Casey.

"She'd grab my face and go, 'CC, I love you.' That's the type of child she was," said Cindy. "How can we [not believe her]? We don't know what she's been through. I don't know what that girl has been through. George and I are living the same nightmare."

Focusing more attention on themselves, rather than on Caylee, is another issue that victims' advocates in Central Florida claim they are outraged over.

"I wrote suicide notes back in July and August. No one knows that," said Cindy.

In July and August the Anthonys were insisting that Caylee was alive. The Anthonys say they don't know what happened to Caylee and say they can't ask Casey certain questions. That may be a sign they know she has the answers, but still they say they give her unwavering support.

"No matter what. That's still our daughter. No matter what," George said.

George says he wants to be a victim's advocate, helping the families of missing or murdered loved ones in Caylee's memory.

However, some advocates are offended by his actions because someone is already under arrest for Caylee's murder. Many of those victim advocates said they don't want his help. They say the Anthonys have damaged the progress made y
"To me, this whole thing with the Anthonys, it's like a big circus and George and Cindy are the ringmasters," said Fielding.

Fielding is working with the Bereaved Survivors of Homicide in Orange County, a well-established group that quietly helps victims' families. She says she is disgusted with the Anthonys' network TV appearances and their overtures about helping others.

"If Casey didn't do it somebody did. Why are you not out there instead of going on national television to publicizing whatever it is you want to publicize?" said Fielding.

Casey's next court appearance is on May 28, when her lawyer will try to block the release of her videotaped reaction after she learned Caylee's remains had been found.

During the day & even in the evening if my shows are not on either my widescreen in the living room or here in my study with my puter the news is on - I'm one of those that have to know, I hate storms when the power goes out because I feel like I'm out of the loop of knowing if something important is going on.   I think 911 heightened that acute awareness for me (long story for another day).

Baez: How Casey Anthony Could Go Free
Attorney: 'There Is So Much That Is Unknown'

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Attorney Jose Baez talked about several key parts of his defense of Casey Anthony during an exclusive interview with WESH 2 News.

"There is so much that is unknown, and we have to focus on all of it," Baez said in an interview with WESH 2's Bob Kealing.

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of her daughter, Caylee, whose remains were found in December 2008 in woods not far from the family's home.

Baez and other attorneys interviewed by WESH 2 said the woods where Caylee's remains were discovered are a central place in which much of the case could revolve.

Caylee was missing almost six months before her body was found. And, Baez said, "They don't know how Caylee passed away. They don't know when Caylee passed away."

Baez and other defense attorneys say prosecutors have not definitively tied Casey Anthony to Caylee's remains along Suburban Drive. They have to prove that Casey dumped the body there before entering state custody and that they remained there for almost six months.

"That's going to become one of the major battlegrounds in the case," said defense attorney Richard Hornsby.

Thomas Luka, an attorney for Casey Anthony's brother, Lee, agreed: "That would be one of the first things I would want to pursue."

Baez also questioned the forensic evidence in the case.

He plans to vigorously attack the single hair found in Casey Anthony's car trunk that prosecutors say is proof a decomposing body was in there. He said his own expert Henry Lee found 17 hairs in the trunk that showed no signs of decomposition.
Baez also will raise questions about the air test that a lab said showed evidence of human decomposition.

"It's not science that's fully accepted within the scientific community," Baez said "It's science that's not been verified. There's absolutely nothing to gauge this science by, so, therefore, it should not be used when someone's life is at stake.

Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty in the case.

A spokeswoman for State Attorney Lawson Lamar said, "We don't respond to anything about this case outside the courtroom."

I don't know what JB is trying to prove when he talks about the 17 hairs it only proves to me that they are from little Caylee when she was alive and in the car.
The 1 that was found that has a death ring on it proves little Caylee is no longer alive and was in the car.
Does he think that they needed to find 17 with a death ring. HL could have found a million of Caylees hairs that didn't have a death ring.
The one the LE found will trump the million.

One of my theories has always been that Casey used the trunk to "babysit" caylee.  She would put her in there with some of those Velveeta slices and drinks and then go do her thing.  Somewhere along the line she got back to the car and heard her screaming which would be when she started drugging and duct tapeing her to stop her from being heard in case she woke up before Casey got back . 17 hairs from a small child is a huge amount to be found in a trunk.  Way more than what you would expect to find from natural shedding.  I would not be bragging about it if I was the defense.  Since there are no reports that Caylee suffered from alopecia or other conditions (remember Cindy said Caylee was NEVER ill) finding this many hairs concentrated in the trunk gives me more reason to believe that she spent way too much time in there. How many kids play in the trunk of a car for gods sake? JMO, I want to see what the forensics are from the pupae and maggots.

It wasn't just the family that let her down. It was all the adults in her life. I am sure there were people that knew bits and pieces of what was going on with Caylee and no one stepped forward. She was always around adults. Have you ever seen a pic of her with a playmate? There were numerous adults that were in contact with Caylee and they never said a word. We can look at Caylee's pics and see the dark circles and the pallid skin and the loss of sparkle in her eyes. Why couldn't the people around her see the same? JMO
