Sleepless here.  Been on SM for hours (but minimized in between catching up).  I was observing two wrens all day building a nest in a overturned pond filter box that we left on a window air conditioner for some months.

I tried moving the nest site to the crotch of a nearby tree--faced it the same way at the same height as the window a/c.  The dern little wrens (prob. Carolina wrens) visited it, but didn't settle and resume nest building....then they boogied for some hours.

So I moved the pond filter box containing the already elaborate nest to the a/c. 

The little buggers came back w/in a 1/2 hour and resumed building the nest.  I was within inches of 'em and watched as they plumped they flew hither and yon with the materials.  What a team! 

I got some pics. 

I don't want them there though.  We have seriously long black racer snakes who will eat 'em up--and I'll never see 'em coming as they scute. 

Of course, many birdies have serious alarm calls...as do I when I see a snake.
