Why would a church be a corporation? Does that take away a non profit status? 

Not necessarily.  I can be registered as a 501(c)(3), but I haven't seen anything to suggest that's the case.  Plus, it's odd to have a for profit entity (the roofing business) as an "Associate" to the "church." IMHO

This church was the result of a merger, correct? So the date (1958) is probably the date one of the "merged" churches incorporated.  What *probably* happened is the two churches merged into one and the "survivor" of the merger changed its name to Clover Road Baptist Church.  If that's the case, then the incorporated date would reflect the date of initial incorporation.  There should be a Certificate of Merger in the corporate records.  Those types of documents aren't available online--you'd have to visit the Corporate Records Department of the Secretary of State to get them.
