On Sunday fishermen found bones in the Sampit River which is in Georgetown, SC not far from where RM lived, and lives now. Here is a link to the story from a G'town station.. A station in Roc that picked this up has already contacted the family and is tying this to Britt. Note that the G'Town PD, who has actually seen the bones, say's they think they are animal bones. The SamPit River Bridge is in Georgetown right by the Steel Plant.

NY Missing: National Missing Persons Conference
By: Katrina Irwin
March 28, 2012

This past weekend, the families of missing people from all over the country, descended on North Carolina for the National Missing Persons Conference put on by the Cue Center. Several families from our area were there and so was News 8.

It's a moving tribute. A candle light vigil is held to remember those who are gone.   "I get a lot of support from my family and friends, but also from Cue. That's what gets you through your days," says Dawn Drexel. Her daughter Brittanee has been missing since April 2009. The Chili teen disappeared while on a spring break trip to Myrtle Beach.

"It does become your family. Cue has been on Brittanee's case since day one. They have done a lot as far as supporting us. The advocacy and being around other families that are going through the same thing," says Dawn.

Brittanee Drexel and Brian Sullivan are still missing. If you have any information on either case, you can call the Cue Center at (910) 343-1131. Or contact local law enforcement.

Bones found in Drexel search area
By Nancy Sanders
March 27, 2012

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WIVB) - Our sister CBS station in Rochester, WROC, is reporting that bones have been found in Georgetown County, South Carolina in an area extensively searched in the case of missing Chili teen Brittanee Drexel.

Fishermen found the bones yesterday near Sampit River bridge in an area called Carol Campbell Landing.

At this point, authorities are still not sure if they are human or animal bones.

There is no known connection to the Brittanee Drexel case at this point, except possibly the location.

Bones found in an area of South Carolina at the center of the search for missing teen Brittanee Drexel are the remains from an animal, a county coroner determined.

http://www.wmbfnews.com/story/17789864/brittanee-drexels-father-unhappy-with-some-police-efforts

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) On the three year anniversary of New York teen Brittanee Drexel's disappearance, her father said some authorities are not doing enough to find his daughter.
 ::snipping2::

During a phone interview with WMBF News Wednesday, Chad Drexel said he believes political or jurisdictional issues could be preventing the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office from doing more to find the missing teen.

"I'm very concerned with how [the sheriff's office] is approaching [this case], and I haven't received one bit of communication,"  Drexel said.  "Georgetown [Sheriff's Office] wants to stay out of it for some reason; I'm done with all that."

Drexel said he believes there are areas and evidence the sheriff's office has not explored, and in the coming months he plans to work with a private group, Merrill's Investigations, to help find his daughter.

Merrill's Investigations volunteered their time and resources to the Brittanee Drexel investigation for months in 2010, until several of the investigations lead supervisors were taken off the case, according to a 2011 WMBF News report.

Drexel said he plans to remain active in his search for his daughter Brittanee, and believes Merrill's could play a key part in bringing closure for his family.

The Ride for Missing Children 16th annual event
By Angelica A. Morrison
Posted May 18, 2012, Updated May 19, 2012

Cyclists with The Ride for Missing Children were greeted like rock stars at the schools and various stops along the 100-mile route Friday.

The 16th annual event, which is a fundraiser for the New York/Mohawk Valley Office of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, attracted 488 cyclists, according to Katie Ullman Media Coordinator with the ride.

“It’s the biggest we’ve ever had,” she said. “This is a wonderful event and a huge ordeal to get them all in and out of the school stop safely.”
For rider Leslie Coughlin, of Sauquoit, she said the opening ceremony in Oneida was emotional.

“I have a daughter who is 14; I couldn’t imagine losing her or not knowing where she is,” Coughlin said.

Rochester mother Dawn Drexel knows exactly how it feels. Her daughter Brittanee Drexel, 17, went missing while on spring break at Myrtle Beach.

“It’s hard. You take it day by day. Everyday there’s hope,” she said. “It’s really difficult. You never expect your child to go missing, and it’s a nightmare you never wake up out of.”

Grandmother Barbara Reeley, of Troy, is living a similar nightmare.

Her grandson Jaliek Rainwalker, of Greenwich, went missing Nov. 1, 2007, when he was 12.

Arrest of ski mask rape suspect has police reviewing open cases
by Ryan Naquin
Posted: 06.28.2012 at 5:06 PM

Myrtle Beach police are checking open cases to see if there's any connection to a man arrested in Surfside Beach this week and charged with 3 rapes in Charlotte, NC dating back to 1979.

On Tuesday, Surfside Beach police arrested Jerry Brooks.

Police in Charlotte say Brooks' DNA connected him to the 30 year old cases.

Myrtle Beach Police captain David Knipes said his department is looking into any possible links between Brooks and unsolved crimes in this area, like the case of missing spring breaker Brittanee Drexel.

Age-progression image released of missing teen Brittanee Drexel
Published: December 04, 2012

 ::snipping2::

As months turned into years her family and friends still hold out hope that Brittanee may still be alive and requested an age progression using her biological families to produce the likeness.

The CUE Center enlisted the help from national renowned forensic artist Diana Trepkov for the task. Diana has provided a number of age progressions over several years at no charge to the organization, donating her talents to aid registered missing person cases of the center.

Diana’s devotional work has spanned almost three decades in service.

“I was so overwhelmed by what she gave us just before the holidays, the beauty of what I know my daughter would really look like today, a little older, a new hair style, but still the beautiful little girl that peeks through those eyes of her”, it is a bittersweet gift”, said Dawn Drexel, Brittanee’s mother.

" I wanted the public to know about my daughter’s eye as well, if she is alive out there somewhere, she would have been in need of another surgery, and this drawing helps to show what her eye would look like today without medical attention."

Brittanee Drexel suffered from an eye disease called PHPV = Persistent Hyperplastic Primary Vitreous; a birth defect which cast shadows in eye sight, causing eye dilation issues and cataracts.

Brittanee Drexel age progression photos
Posted: Dec 04, 2012 7:14 PM MST Updated: Dec 04, 2012 7:15 PM MST

WILMINGTON, NC (WMBF) The CUE Center For Missing Persons released age progression photos of missing teen Brittanee Drexel on Tuesday.

Drexel was 17 years old when she disappeared more than three years ago in the Grand Strand. These forensic images make the public aware of how Drexel may look at the age of 21.

The photos came on request by Drexel's family and friends. Her biological families were used to produce images to reflect how she may look in present day. National renowned forensic artist Diana Trepkov provided this forensic tool to the CUE Center free of charge.

Photos display Drexel having a smaller right eye than her left, representative of an eye disease. Drexel suffered from the eye disease Persistent Hyperplastic Primary Vitreous, a birth defect that causes eye dilation issues and cataracts. Drexel's mother, Dawn Drexel, explained in a CUE Center press release that her daughter would be in need of another surgery now and the picture displays how her eye would look without medical attention

The actual bone found on Drum Island.

CHARLESTON, SC -
Last Wednesday the Charleston County Coroner's Office confirmed that a bone found on Drum Island is part of a human jaw bone.

On the evening of June 9, boaters found a bone resembling a human jaw bone on Drum Island underneath the Ravenel bridge.

That day police officers from Mt. Pleasant met with one of the boaters.  Police took the bone and notified the Charleston County Coroner's Office.

According to a police report obtained by WCIV, the boaters were hunting for bottles and found what looked like "a lower half of a human jaw bone."

On Tuesday, June 18 a spokesperson for the Charleston County Coroner said that the jawbone found on Drum Island did not belong to Brittanee Drexel or Gail McCaffrey.

The coroner's office will attempt to extract DNA in hopes of making an identification.

Search intensifies for 2 missing South Carolina women, while police discover human skeletal remains
By Cristina Corbin
Published December 30, 2013
FoxNews.com

Police searching for two women who recently vanished in South Carolina came upon a set of human skeletal remains near where a third woman disappeared three years ago.

The discovery came as a reward for missing 20-year-old Heather Elvis, of Myrtle Beach, was increased to $20,000. Authorities intensified their search for Elvis and another young woman -- both of whom disappeared from the same area within a week of each other. While scouring a heavily wooded area for Elvis on Saturday, authorities found "adult skeletal remains," said Lt. Peter Cestare of the Horry County Police Department. It is not yet known whether the bones, which have been there "for some time," are male or female, he said.

The bones were found about 25 miles from where 17-year-old Brittanee Drexel was last seen in 2009. Drexel, a high school junior from the Rochester area, went with friends and without her mom's permission to Myrtle Beach on April 23, 2009. Authorities have long said they suspect Drexel is dead, but exhaustive searches for the teenager have never turned up remains.

The remains have been sent to a lab in Texas for DNA testing. It's not confirmed yet that the bones are human but we're told they looked like they had been there for years and were perhaps spread around by an animal.

Brittanee's mother, Dawn, was notified by police but does she not know more than what is being reported.

::snipping3::Coroner Edge confirmed that the remains are human, and the larger bones will be packed up and sent off to a lab in Texas for DNA testing. They have been in the Waccamaw area for years.

There are a couple of guys missing in the same area along with the two other women that have gone missing in the last 2 weeks. Local news is saying the bones have been in the area for about 4 or 5 years. Good possibility it could be Brittanee.

Sounds like Horry County could use some help from SBI or FBI
