Two Arrested in Undercover Drug Sting


PALATKA, FL -- Agencies from two counties worked together to arrest two people for trying to trade drugs for stolen goods.

Putnam County Sheriff's Drug and Vice Unit, the Palatka Police Department and the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office sent an undercover officer to conduct a trade.

The officer contacted Jerome Raymond Williams, 37, and offered to trade stolen televisions, radios and a radar detector for Lortab pills.

They arranged a meeting in a parking lot. Williams arrived with 30-year-old Courtney Renee Leonard and they negotiated the trade. Leonard also offered cash for one of the televisions.

After the trade, hidden officers arrested Williams and Leonard. They then searched Williams' car and found more drugs, including crack and powder cocaine and several types of prescription pills.

Leonard was charged with dealing in stolen property.

Williams faces many charges, including two counts of trafficking of Hydrocodone, possession of powder cocaine, possession of crack cocaine with the intent to sell, possession of a schedule II controlled substance with the intent to sell, possession of a schedule IV substance with the intent to sell, sale of crack cocaine, possession of a legend drug without a prescription, possession of a legend drug with the intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a drug conveyance and dealing in stolen property.

There were also outstanding warrants against him (2 each) for trafficking in Hydrocodone and sale of cocaine.

Please - anyone who thinks they can do a better job moderating 24 hours a day let me know.  I'd love to have someone else take over.  It's very time consuming, all volunteer and there is absolutely no thanks for it.

Thought I would add this for reminder..
Jerome is out on Bond already from Drug Bust early April.. Now he has been Busted again...  Charges seem to be racking up on this guy... Wonder how long he had to stay with the county before he was or is or if he is bonded out?

Well it is so quiet here, when I sit down everyday at the computor and turn it on and wait for it to load, I tell myself today is gonna be the day, when I get to the forum something will have broken in this case and we will know where Haleigh is, then I get here and nothing!!!  I stop and think, wonder if Haleigh is alive what is she thinking to herself, is  she also wondering if this will be the day when she will be found, if she is saying, Gosh, why hasnt Mommy or Daddy come to get me yet, does anybody miss me, wonder where my bubba Jr. is, is he still with Daddy and Mommy or did something happen to him too, why cant I see Grand Ma, why cant I go back to school, this is what makes me crazy with this case and if it does this to me, well I then wonder if Ronald really didnt have anything to do with Haleigh coming up missing, how can he stand to see another day pass without any news,is his first born alive and being cared for or mistreated, is she OK or living in hell on earth, and Crystal is definaitly going crazy if she too knows nothing about what happened to Haleigh, I couldnt stand it.......no way........I would be all up at the Sherriff's department demanding to know what is going on, who have you talked to today, what leads are you following, what can I do, please lets get some people togther and go search again, lets do something, I wouldnt be able to stand not knowing,   This little girl has to be somewhere, she didnt dissapear from the earth without a clue to her whereabouts..........I just want something to be said that shows that they do have a vlue, they are getting close, they do know something, anything.........this is getting rediculous....................Poor Haleigh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yep....I feel really sorry for them...it has to be horrible! just horrible...Hell on earth!

Jerome has been transferred to the jail in St. Johns County, he hasn't been released, notice that the bond on some of those charges was not posted?  I read this earlier on another forum and then I found that article, apparently the jail in St. Johns County is where the more dangerous criminals go to await their court date.

Good Morning! I wish someone would clear something up for me. I've seen so many posts on every board, and also in Art H. blog regarding Johnny S. being a deputy with the sheriff's dept. But a poster on WS who does a LOT of research claims that he was not a deputy, that he was a corrections officer with the county jail. There is a difference, at least here in Tx.
My son went to work for the sheriff's dept. here about 18 years ago, and it was a requirement then that all new hires had to work in the jail itself for a period of time before moving to patrol. Not sure if it's still that way or not. They do sometimes hire people just as jailers, or corrections officers, though, so it can be a bit confusing. I would like to clear it up in my own mind... was he ever actually a deputy, or did he just work at the jail? Don't ask me why it's important, I can't explain it. And no, I don't have any inside track.... I just want to be clear.
There are so many inconsistencies in this case, on both sides, and rumors get bandied about so much, it's very hard to know what to believe anymore. FWIW, I think Art Harris gets his facts wrong sometimes, too, so I take what is on his side with a grain of salt. Just wish we had more facts to mull over.
Hoping that Haleigh will be found and brought home before we all lose our minds!

There is also an article on Palatka News saying Haleigh's uncle Andrew Shefield works for the DOC now and was in one of the searches. That article is now in Archive and you need to pay to see it.
