BREAKING NEWS!

BAIL DENIED AND DREW TRIED TO HIRE HITMAN!

JOLIET, Ill. – Prosecutors say former Illinois police officer Drew Peterson offered someone $25,000 in 2003 to kill a former wife he's now accused of murdering. Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow made the allegation at a hearing Friday on a request to reduce Peterson's $20 million bond. The request was denied.

Peterson is charged with murdering his third wife, Kathleen Savio. He's also a suspect in the 2007 disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson.

Glasgow says Peterson told a police officer in 2003 that he would be better off if Savio was dead because he would be financially ruined by a pending divorce. She was found drowned in her bathtub three weeks later, a gash to the back of her head.

Drew Peterson offered someone $25,000 to kill 3rd wife: Prosecutor says

JOLIET, Ill. — Former police officer Drew Peterson offered someone $25,000 to kill his third wife because he thought a pending divorce settlement would financially ruin him, but then killed her himself months later, prosecutors said Friday. Prosecutor James Glasgow made the allegation at a bail reduction hearing for Peterson's $20 million bond.

Judge Carla J. Alessio-Policandriotes refused to reduce the bond for the suburban Chicago police officer, who is charged with first-degree murder in Kathleen Savio's 2004 death.

Peterson also is a suspect in the 2007 disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson. He has maintained his innocence in Savio's death and Stacy Peterson's disappearance.

Glasgow said Peterson told a fellow police officer in late 2003 that he would be financially ruined by a pending divorce, and his life would be easier "if she was just dead." Glasgow did not reveal the source of his allegation.

Savio's body was found with a gash on the back of her head in her bathtub three weeks later, the Will County prosecutor said.

Peterson is a flight risk, he said, because he knows how to disappear and knows he faces 20 to 60 years in jail if he's convicted.

Peterson attorney Joel Brodsky said he wanted the judge to reduce his client's bond to under $1 million. He said Peterson has not fled, despite trips to Mexico, California and Florida, since police named him a suspect in Stacy Peterson's disappearance in late 2007.

Brodsky said that he had heard talk about Peterson trying to hire someone to kill Savio, but said it was "nothing substantive." He added that they would investigate Glasgow's allegations.

Peterson, who is known for making smart-aleck remarks in the media, was much more subdued in court Friday. He hung his head as he left the hearing, and got into a van to go back to jail.

The former Bolingbrook sergeant finally understood the seriousness of his situation, Glasgow said.

Peterson "realizes there is no way out," he said.

Drew Peterson was a dirty cop from day one on the force.

He's going down now big time.  Keeping my fingers crossed tha we will be hearing next Thursday that the GJ has indited Drew for Stacy's murder too.

And yes, I believe we are going to see Drew was involved in a few other murders/suicides and disappearing people.

But the old guy knows his day has come..he wasn't cocky leaving court today, he was actually hanging his head..according to reports.

Judge Won't Lower Peterson's $20M Bond After Prosecutors Say He Hired Hitman to Kill Wife
Friday , May 22, 2009

The $20 million bond keeping Drew Peterson behind bars on murder charges won't be lowered, a judge ruled Friday, after prosecutors argued that the ex-police sergeant hired someone to kill his third wife.

Peterson and his defense team were back in court in Joliet, Ill., to fight for a reduction in the hefty bond so that he could get out of jail while he awaits trial. That request was denied.

Prosecutors contend that the former Bolingbrook, Ill., officer hired someone to kill his third wife, Kathleen Savio.

Peterson is charged with murdering Savio and staging the death to look like an accidental drowning.

Savio's body was found in a bathtub in 2004. Her death was initially ruled an accident, but a later autopsy on her exhumed body declared she was the victim of a homicide.

Peterson also is a suspect in the 2007 disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson.

Click here to read the charges against Peterson.

He has long maintained his innocence in Savio's death and Stacy Peterson's disappearance.

Prosecutors in the murder case against Peterson got their wish Thursday when a new judge was appointed to preside over his trial.

I posted at WS at that time and some of the research on that thread was done by myself and follow posters   I can you tell there is more..but not all has been verified.

I can also tell you that in investigating the drug deals gone bad a certain mob figure turned up..and he also testified before the GJ....just saying..

I am really hopeful that this body is Stacy.  My thinking is when LE was doing their river search and it was being live streamed on the interent in Dec of 07..Drew spent the day with Brodsky watching the telecast.  If they had not even been close to where she was placed then Drew wouldn't have wasted his time..not Brodsky.

If this isn't her then I hope that they continue their searches in this general area..because Drew's whole demeanor was very different yesterday in court.  Something has shut this man up big time..and it isn't just offereing someone money to off his wife..he has blown off all speculation before..until now.  So someone is very close in this case to solving it..and her remains would take this case from speculation to solid proof..along with Tom M testimony..Drew's goose would be cooked.

Prosecutors Claim that Drew Peterson Tried to Hire a Hitman to Kill Third Wife Kathleen Savio

http://scaredmonkeys.com/2009/05/23/prosecutors-claim-that-drew-peterson-tried-to-hire-a-hitman-to-kill-third-wife-kathleen-savio/

Quote
Prior to his pending divorce from Kathleen Savio, prosecutors claim that Drew Peterson offered someone $25,000 to kill his wife. However, in the end did the act himself. Their theory is, facing “financial ruin”, Peterson attempted to solicit a hitman to kill his wife. It is reported that Drew Peterson told a fellow officer that just a few weeks before Kathleen Savio was found dead in a bathtub that, his life would be easier “if she was just dead.”

Drew Peterson’s attorney Joel Brodsky says talk about his client hiring someone to kill Kathleen Savio was unsubstantiated. You can hear Joel Brodsky LIVE Sunday night at 9 pm ET when he is one of Dana’s guests on Scared Monkey’s radio.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!  Sorry to barge in again to your conversation, but we are still working on writing the media for Amber DuBois.  Our mission is to get this missing child some media coverage as she has had zilch.  We are going to keep writing every day until our requests are heard.  Please take a moment to visit her thread and write a quick email on her behalf.

Have not heard that..but I have been out of the loop today..prayers to the family and I am happy that they have closure.  I hope that LE keeps looking in this general area for Stacy..Drew and Brodsky have both shown signs of "tells"  when the searches were in this general local.

Drew Peterson's Legal Team Issues Statement on Denial of Bond Motion
thepublicityagency.com - May 22, 2009

(PRNewsChannel) / Joliet, Ill. / The following statement is from Drew Peterson's criminal defense team regarding today's denial of the motion to lower bond.

"We’re disappointed that the motion to reduce bond was denied.  We feel the state’s attorney made references during the hearing that were irrelevant to the case, such as statements made in regard to Stacy Peterson.  These statements had nothing to do with the case involving the death of Kathleen Savio.

"We will immediately appeal this decision to the Illinois Appellate Court.  Appeals of motions to deny bond are heard in an expedited fashion.  We are confident the appellate court will reduce the $20-million bond to a reasonable level.  We expect to have the appeal on file by the end of next week."

Double Wow..........

I'm going to believe that the body found is Stacey. I'm going to hope for that, anyway. I do believe that Drew Peterson will finally be proven guilty of murder, if for no other reason than truth has a way of coming out. I'm thinking that this latest information about Drew approaching someone to kill her will pan out and that Drew has already spent his last day of "cocky" freedom.

I believe he will go down.................. way, way down!

Worker Says Police Found a Human Bone

WFLD
Des Plaines, IL. - New evidence found in the Des Plaines River is linked to the human remains found earlier this week. State police confirmed to Fox Chicago News that items were taken out of the river in Channahon...not far from where human remains were found earlier this week. Tera Williams has the exclusive report.

*****************

“They got here about three o'clock”

Chemical plant worker Jeff Triplett says he escorted state police and two workers from the Will County Coroner's office through a brush and back into the woods along the bank of the Des Plaines River...

Tera Williams: What did they find...
Jeff Triplett: They found a human leg bone... they said they found it on the side of the river...
They had their forensics kit and they all had their laptops and they were bagging it up.

Tera Williams: How did they say they were alerted to this area?
Jeff Triplett: They wouldn't say...it's definitely connected to the body earlier this week...

Tera Williams: State police would not confirm that... but did say they took some items into evidence from the Des Plaines River today. We saw search crews wading along the bank and noticed a flagged area where the crew was paying the most attention...

About a mile downriver from there on Wednesday a clean-up crew found skeletal remains. An autopsy done Thursday did not confirm the person's race or gender and it could take weeks for the results of a DNA analysis.

The findings have peaked the interest of the families in two high profile missing persons cases. Stacy Peterson and Lisa Stebic. Searchers have been looking for additional remains since the discovery of the remains Wednesday...

Jeff Triplet says officers who approached him to get onto the property today, were definitely - all business.

“Kinda freaked me out the cops showed up and said we need access and I said why and he said we found a human leg bone.” Triplet said.
