When I was moving from the labor bed to the delivery table, my IV came out. The needle had been bothering me for 17 hours.......... it was put in right at the bone in my wrist. The nurse picked up the line and began to restart it, and that was the end of the line for me. My physician hesitated but he was the one I was directing my "protest" to, and he finally grinned and told the nurse to leave it out. He said he didn't think the hospital had insurance to cover what I'd do if they tried to put it back in!

OK all you wannabe Grandmas to Dolce's babies.

Considering Dolce refers to me as "Mom" in her postings ... I do believe that makes me THE honorary Grandma.

You poor thing, it's funny now; but I KNOW it was anything but funny then!  I've had an IV just like you described before, it hurts the entire time!

When my DIL was expecting our precious 2 1/2 year old grandson ... she shared with me that when she went into labor ... she wanted no drugs to take the edge off the pain.  She was convinced that the bonding process could only happen if she experience EVERY contraction.

Then there was me.  I cannot tolerate pain.  The "powers that be" in that delivery room could have knocked me out cold with drugs and woken me the "experience" was over.  Hey ... I knew I had a lifetime to work on the bonding process.

I am off to church.  However ... I am anticipating VERY good news when I returned.

This truly is an exciting Sunday in the cage.

Don't know about everyone else...but feel like I am waiting on my own grandbabies lol.

And everyone is stupid and mean and hateful when you are in labor.

ITA!! My first child, they were wheeling down to get a picture to see if he would even fit and I was snarling like crazy. The nurse told me to Shut up!!! OMG, I couldn't believe it!! Turned out he weighed 9lbs 6oz! Could've smacked her!!!
My first weighed 6lbs 12 oz. The second one was 10 lbs. It was an emergency c-section. When I woke up, I was completely knocked out. I didn't even know where I was when I woke up  When they showed her to me, I yelled and accused them of giving me someone else's baby, she looked like she was about two months old    When I finally got settled in my room, the next morning, the nurse said that she and another nurse, never saw such a nosy baby in all their years of taking care of babies. And 22 years later, she still is very nosy.

I know what you mean Janet. I had my first with demerol and was totally out when she was born. That was 38 yrs ago when they believed in drugs. Really short induced labor. Then 7 yrs later my son was 4 weeks early so I got nothing , nada, zilch. and about 12 hours of labor. I will take the drugs anyday.

Welcome tupelohoney!

Thank you so much! I'm so pleased to be a member!

Dolce, if I remember correctly, has chosen the name Sophia for her daughter, but I can't remember her choice of names for her son. Can someone refresh my memory please?

When dear son was born I went into labor on a Saturday and low and behold the hospital staff were having their annual picnic.  No anesthesiologist.  Doctor was at the picnic and sent word to me that I wasn't due yet, when I was in on Thursday I had not even dilated and it was just false labor.  I went in at 1:30pm, had him by 5:20pm.  Didn't have time to get the anesthesiologist in to give me anything so natural child birth was the order for the day.  When they put him in my arms I was mortified-----HE LOOKED JUST LIKE ROD STEWART WITH THE WILD HAIR.  All I could think of was which song is he going to break into.  The doctor was my worse enemy at the moment and I refused to talk to him for weeks.
