Hempstead student remains missing after more than 2 weeks

A Hempstead High School student still is missing after more than two weeks, his mother told the Telegraph Herald on Tuesday. Dylan Blanchard, 17, was reported missing on May 2. His cell phone has been shut off since then, and none of his clothes or personal items were missing. Police said they don't believe Blanchard was abducted. Dubuque Assistant Police Chief Terry Tobin said police are following leads as they come in. Blanchard's mother, Tracie Lynch, said she believes her son's friends know something, but no one has stepped forward. "At this point, I don't care why (he's missing), I just want to know that he's OK," she said. On Mother's Day, Lynch received a text message from an unfamiliar number. It read, "Happy Mother's Day. I love you." Lynch said she doesn't know if the message was from her son. Blanchard is described as between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 with a slim to medium build and has short, dark brown hair with sideburns. UPDATE: Missing Iowa Teen - FOUND SAFE
A high school student mysteriously vanished on May 2 in Dubuque, Iowa. He was found safe and sound in Sioux City, Iowa on May 21. 

According to one report, Blanchard decided to leave town and was located by a family member. Police aren’t expected to file charges against Blanchard in connection with his disappearance.
