Ms. Marple, have you talked to Sunfreak today?  Is she in the same hospital?  (I think I have that # here somewhere).  I was concerned about that incision.  We have the same size scar and it's a big one! (TMI, I know).

I'll be around the house and hanging out all day as far as I know.  Please let me know if she needs anything........TY

6.3 Percent of the interviewed passengers indicated that they want to come back to Aruba on a shore vacation
Does that mean there will be 6.3 ppl on the beach ? Versus the zero that are on the beach now ? Ah, the Germans. The Dutch love the Germans.
Why, the Queen married a German who was a former Hitler Youth member. But, they got over it .

Klaas, got your email.

I'm on it.

Perhaps you could start a thread in the Lounge for prayers for Sunfreak and updates can be added later.  TY

LOL. Yes, The invasion of Holland by Nazi forces during World War 2 shocked the Dutch because they thought Germany was their friend.  As they say...with friends like that, who needs enemies?

Don't hold your breathe on those #'s. lol.

Of course some people would go there, they cant have an economy of zero. The problem is, that if one does not reach the break even point its useless. Low hanging fruit is easy to pick ... its the medium and high hanging fruit that is out of Aruba's grasp ... the fruit that makes the difference.

I do not know if I would be betting the house on those #'s. 6.3%, however factored with the fact that about 60-65% of respondents of polls are truthful or ever do what they say brings the number down below 4%. How many people were polled? Its a cruise ship, how many aboard a cruise ship?

Its hardly a number that one should put their economy in the hands of.

The last cruise I was on, the ship held 500 psgrs and 500 crew.  Now of course, ships carry about twice that number.  Everyone doesn't get off in port though.  I know when the shipped stopped in Jamaica, there were those who perceived it as dangerous and stayed aboard.

According to MF at FOB Wink

Indeed the research was done by the Florida Caribbean Cruise Tourism and interviewed over 40.000 passengers. Not like the poll where 400 Alabamians decided that 7 out of 10 people supported the boycott back in November 2005

I'm trying to find a site that lists Aruba's quarterly GDP growth statistics.  The  GDP growth (assuming it's accurate of course) is the bottom line number that really matters.  Well either that, or the unemployment rate.

The only GDP statistics I can find for Aruba are yearly: In 2004 Aruba's real GDP growth was about 3.6%, in 2005 it was 3.4%, and was projected to fall to about 2.5% in 2006.  Would be interesting to know if it fell more than the Aruban government's projections.

The unemployment rate is not an indicator of too much on Aruba. Why ?
Too many ppl from other countries are there and then when there is no work, they go home. As they are not citizens I don't know how they would be tracked.
