An accused holder of child pornography who fled the Twin Cities when a warrant was issued for his arrest was transported back to Brazos County, but has bonded out of jail.

Gregg Baird bonded out of Brazos County Jail at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, a little more than six hours after he was booked in. He had been sitting in the Brewster County jail since his arrest near the West Texas town of Alpine Tuesday.

Authorities there say Baird's bond was originally set at $140,000 for the seven counts of child porn he faced, but that was later increased to $280,000 by a Brazos County justice of the peace.

However, according to Brazos County's online jail records, Baird's bond was $70,000, or $10,000 for each of the charges.

Baird, 38, faces seven counts of possession of child porn. The warrant was issued Monday for his arrest, but College Station PD learned Baird had left the area. A DPS trooper pulled Baird over Tuesday and found his arms bloody.

The trooper said Baird had admitted to cutting his wrists the night before. He was treated at a local medical facility before going to jail.

Following a tip, it was a search warrant at Baird's home on Ravenstone in College Station that authorities say turned up the images of [/b]children engaging in sex acts. He was reportedly out of the area at the time. When police went to arrest him Monday, authorities say notes they found indicated he had left Bryan/College Station.

Baird was an active community member in addition to his role as a vice president at Aggieland Credit Union. He was very involved in local Rotary Club activities.

JP Addresses Lowered Bond for Man Arrested for Child Porn

News 3 has been following the bond situation of a College Station man arrested for child pornography. Wednesday, the man who lowered Gregg Baird's bond addressed the situation.

Brazos County Justice of the Peace Tommy Munoz tells News 3 he lowered the bond for the 38-year old to $70,000 only under conditions that would minimize the chances of Baird fleeing. Munoz says Baird had to surrender his passport and agree to wear a GPS monitoring device.

Although this is not house arrest, Munoz says the tracking device will be able to keep tabs on Baird's whereabouts.

Initially, bond was set at $140,000. It was later doubled to $280,000. Munoz says he doubled it to make sure Baird was held in Brewster County until he could be brought back to Brazos County.

Authorities believe Baird fled the area after a warrant was issued for his arrest on seven counts of possessing child porn. He had reportedly slit his wrists prior to his arrest near the West Texas town of Alpine.

Baird was transported back to the Brazos County Jail early Sunday morning. After meeting the conditions of the bond, Baird was able to make bail.

A College Station man accused of possessing child pornography is now under the watchful eye of law enforcement

Gregg Baird, 38, was fitted Monday with a GPS tracking device. If removed, the bracelet automatically alerts authorities.

The tracker is part of the conditions set by Justice of the Peace Tommy Munoz when he lowered Baird's bond from $280,000 to $70,000 last week. He also ordered Baird to turn over his passport.

Baird was arrested on May 19 in Alpine, one day after a police search of his College Station home allegedly turned up pornographic images of children on his computer.

Sorry, I don't think there is any such thing as the "watchful eye."  Ask how watchful the "eye" is on the weekends and at nights -- just who is listening for the "alarm."  Good gravy!

Baird Arrested Again on 93 More Child Porn Charges

The local financial executive charged with possession of child pornography has been arrested again on nearly 100 additional charges.

Gregg Baird was taken into custody last month on seven counts of possession. A warrant was issued in Brazos County, but he was arrested near the West Texas town of Alpine days later.

College Station police arrested Baird Thursday in the 5300 block of Ballybunion on 93 more counts of child porn of a direct indictment by a grand jury. He had been out of jail on $70,000 bond.

According to the District Attorney's office, it is about a 50-50 split of videos and images that were reportedly found. An image or a video equals a count.

All evidence presented to the grand jury was from CSPD's initial investigation into Baird, according to the DA's office.

Bond for the additonal charges has not been set, but a District Court judge will decide that.

Baird's bond has fluctuated since the 38-year-old had a warrant issued. Originally, it was at $140,000, but that was later increased to $280,000. Justice of the Peace Tommy Munoz would later lower Baird's bond to $70,000, but with restrictions that Baird would have to turn in his passport in Brazos County and be monitored through an ankle bracelet.

Baird was transported back to Brazos County soon after and bonded out.

CSPD tracked Baird down for this latest arrest through the monitoring system.

Baird is a vice president at Aggieland Credit Union.

A former local financial executive will serve 15 years in prison without the possibility of probation.

Honorable Judge Travis Bryan III, of the 272nd district court said, "This sentence hopefully sends the message to this community that this will not be tolerated in Brazos County."

39 year-old Gregg Baird didn't show any emotion when he was sentenced to 15 years in prison, without the possibility of probation, in a Brazos County courtroom Thursday.

The former local financial executive plead guilty to 10 counts of possessing child pornography in May 2009. He was originally charged with 100 counts.

Baird was facing a max of 100 years in jail. Here's how Judge Bryan's sentence breaks down:

* 10 years in prison with no probation for the first count.

* 5 years stacked for the second count, without the possibility of probation.

* Judge Bryan gave Baird 10 years probation for the third count.

* For the remaining 7 counts, Baird got 10 years, to run concurrently with the first set.

"I just hope that you do what you need to do and hopefully I've done what I need to do to keep that ticking time bomb from going off and damaging some child," said Judge Bryan.
