Thanks LEroy... go here and put in his name
http://www.co.monroe.mi.us/egov/probate/Default.aspx

then go to each tab

since it shows Sherry Buchanan as the Guardian, does that mean that neither of them had custody at one time?  Or is this a standard thing in custody issues.

I would think that Jennifer would be listed as the Guardian

It shows status SCAO checks last one being filed 10/23/2008. So, Sherry still has guardianship it looks like.

She was discharged from probation in  01/26/2009. Perhaps her mom just gave her Nevaeh back.

Bump

I inferred from this that she was incarcerated from 12/7/2006-1/26/2009 but I could be wrong, if I am I apologize for insinuating she was in jail.

Thanks Lovin - I had forgotten about this!

Guess that makes sense and Pink might be right that Sherry still has custody.  It does look that way.

Live report just said that investigators did not find anything at quarry...might go back tomorrow but for now they have other areas of interest that they are searching now.  they wont say where these locations are.

Not saying she's there, but searching a quarry, with depth of up to 100 ft, needs very specific equipment, which in general is not readily available, I hope they have it or got it to say it was cleared, imo.
B

They said they did 4 fly-overs and some shore searches of the quarry.  They showed video of it and there is no way they could have covered all that in one day.

I hope they get the right equipment in there too.

Here's any example of how conditions in different bodies of water effect seeing anything. There were many flyovers over the dairy pond where Sandra was found- saw nothing.

In a quarry, it is very, very deep with a jagged bottom, and can alter aerials. Your right, no way they could cover it and clear it.

Local news had Jennifer's cousin on....he said her and George used to see other and they would get in arguments...cousin said when this first happened he was instantly concerned that it was George who took Nevaeh.

Jennifer said that she has never left Nevaeh alone with George.

Oh trust me, I have had to bite my tongue as well. However, when writing a post and commenting on it in a forum is like night and day. There is a balance we have to do between reporting news and providing opinion when we are not doing an editorial.

Trust me, from the very beginning when I read the case, it stunk to the high heavens.

Search goes on for missing Monroe County girl
Jim Lynch / Detroit News

Monroe -- As of 9 p.m., law enforcement officials searching for 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan in the Monroe area have come up empty.

Despite the involvement of a multi-jurisdictional task force, investigators have not found the girl, who has been missing since Sunday evening. Personnel from the Michigan State Police and the Detroit Police Department are helping to search for Nevaeh.

"We're working through the night," Monroe County Sheriff's Major Dan Motylinski said. "We're checking all the leads and tips we've gotten in so far."

Earlier Monday afternoon, police detained two people for questioning in connection with Nevaeh's disappearance but would not identify them, saying only that they were friends of Nevaeh's mother.

Police also searched two quarries in the area during the day.

Nevaeh was last seen by a friend playing outside her apartment in the Charlotte Arms complex around 6:30 p.m. Sunday. She is described as 3-foot-8, weighing 45 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She last was seen wearing a red-white-and-blue striped shirt and knee-length jeans.

Her bike was found nearby in the parking lot of the complex at 1166 N. Macomb, and authorities believe she is in danger.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff's office at (734) 243-7070.

Monroe prays for girl's safe return
BLADE STAFF

MONROE — As authorities continue to search for the missing 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan, friends and relatives gathered Monday night to pray for her safe return.

More than 50 people came to share tears and hugs at the apartment complex where the girl was last seen about 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

“Our hearts ache for you,” said the Rev. Dale Hayford of Monroe Crosswalk Community Church. “We need to pray for a miracle today.”

Nevaeh was last seen playing in the parking lot of the Charlotte Arms apartment complex, 1160 North Macomb St. in Monroe, where she lives with her mother Jennifer Buchanan and grandmother Sherry Buchanan.

Earlier Monday law enforcement officials, family members, and area residents Monday walked through wooded areas and backyards, along creeks, and in shopping centers looking for Nevaeh.

So far, she has not been found.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Lt. Todd Opperman said authorities were interviewing everyone in the apartment complex and following tips called in from the community.

“We’re checking everything that we can check,” he said, adding they will search for the girl “as long as it takes.”

The sheriff’s office detained Monday two people for questioning — a registered sex offender who was a friend of the girl’s mother and the other a transient seen in the area. Both men were being questioned, but neither was a suspect, authorities said.

George Kennedy, 39, who lives in a hotel at 15390 Dixie Hwy., was taken into custody Sunday night on parole violations and was questioned. He has been registered as a sex offender in Michigan since 2002, according to the Michigan State Police Web site. He was convicted on one count each of attempted criminal sexual conduct and attempted children-accosting for immoral purposes, according to the Michigan State Police.

An Amber Alert was issued by the sheriff’s office for the girl who was last seen at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Charlotte Arms apartment complex, 1160 North Macomb St. in Monroe.

Nevaeh’s mother has confirmed she was friends with Kennedy.

Police found the girl’s bicycle in the parking lot of the apartment complex and believe she was abducted and is in extreme danger.

She was last seen wearing a red-white-and-blue shirt and knee-length jeans. Nevaeh is 3-foot-8 and weighs 45 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.

Call the Monroe County Sheriff’s department at 734-243-7070 if you have any information about the missing girl, or call 911.

There is updated video to the right here:
Mom and Dad are taking polys.

Mom sure uses strange language huh?

Hope she comes home safe and "in one piece".
Thinks she was taken quickly and some kind of "foul play" involved.
I heard her "snatched" in another interview...

Here's what I found as a summary for the Amber Alert Criteria:

Summary of Department of Justice Recommended Criteria
There is reasonable belief by law enforcement that an abduction has occurred.
The law enforcement agency believes that the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death.
There is enough descriptive information about the victim and the abduction for law enforcement to issue an AMBER Alert to assist in the recovery of the child.
The abduction is of a child aged 17 years or younger.
The child’s name and other critical data elements, including the Child Abduction flag, have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system.

I'm not sure if this was posted or not, but it looks as if this child's "mother" had some trouble with the law herself.

Detained 2 friends of her Mothers. One a convicted SO, the other, picked up in Heck Park, who just "happened" to know the couple.

What happened to this baby? I implore this woman to do the right thing now, when she should have before and failed Neveah. Who knew that Heaven, spelled backwords is her name, would end up there prematurely. God Bless this child.

Is this accurate?  The reason I am questioning is because none of the other reports say this.  Wonder if the Grandmother was home when she went missing?

Y'all are right, this mother acts like she has this story all planned out as to what happened to her daughter.  This is really a sad case.
