Is there a quarry in Toledo? I just read on a blog that he has confessed and they were searching a quarry.

I hope it's not true!!!

I looked for police scanners online and I can't find one.
OMG

Oh I really hope this is not accurate.  They are looking for Tori Stafford under rock piles right now as well.

Yeah, I read that too but the poster said she "heard" that.  I hope she is wrong.

Thanks Leroy! I found that one and it woudn't work for me either.

I hope that was just a troll with a rumor. I would hate for her to be in a quarry. My heart is breaking just thinking about it.

That is strange - Monroe is exit 11 off of the interstate after you cross into Michigan for Ohio....from my house I can get there in 20 minutes....I live 1/2 mile from the Michigan line though right off the interstate.

I bet it is the quarry that Klaas posted.

I hope this is only a rumor.

Today is the 25th Anniversay of the day President Regan proclaimed to be National Missing Children's Day.  IMO, things have only gotten worse.  Too many young mothers (no, I am not bashing all young mothers), the internet, weak laws for sex offenders...what is going to take????

Two held for questioning in missing girl case

Police are questioning two men, one a registered sex offender, in connection with the missing 5-year-old Monroe girl who disappeared Sunday night from her N. Macomb St. apartment complex that prompted a sweeping search involving police and volunteers.

Nevaeh Amaya Buchanan was discovered missing by her mother about 6:30 p.m. Sunday from the parking lot of the Charlotte Arms Apartments, 1160 N. Macomb St. One of the men in custody has been identified as the mother's boyfriend, who is being held on a parole violation charge, authorities said.

"He is being cooperative," said Detective Sgt. Heath Velliquette of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
The second man was picked up at Heck Park during a search for the girl. The man is not from the area and deputies considered him suspicious after speaking with him. Neither man has been charged in connection with the disappearance so their names are being withheld.

Sgt. Velliquette said he is considering the case a kidnapping because of the circumstances. Nevaeh was playing with friends and reportedly was riding her bicycle in the parking lot early Sunday evening.

Police said the girls' mother told her to not play in the street. When she went to check on her again, her daughter was gone. It prompted a massive search that is still occurring.

"We've been looking all night," said Holly Howerton, who is friends with the family. "It's terrible. I can't imagine if it was one of ours."
"Our main concern is finding the child," added Jody McMullen, another family friend. "I was looking everywhere."
One of the men in custody is a registered sex offender with convictions of attempted criminal sexual conduct, third degree and attempted children - accosting for immoral purposes, according to the National Sex Offender Registry.
The man, 38, has a registered address of 15390 S. Dixie Hwy., according to the website, which is the Motel Seven at Dunbar Rd. Police with a tracking dog were searching the perimeter of the quarry, which is across the street from the motel.
The other man being held for questioning just happened to be in the area, Sgt. Velliquette said. He was in the wooded area at Heck Park and taken in for questioning. The man has no obvious connection to the area and is considered a transient.
"Because of the situation, we're being overly cautious," Sgt. Velliquette said.

This afternoon, police staged a command center at the apartment complex while several television station vehicles remained parked across the street at the Frenchtown Place senior citizen high rise.
Every vehicle that arrived and left the complex was search by deputies. Lt. Todd Opperman said police were searching every apartment for a third time just in case. Citizens were handing out fliers with Nevaeh's picture.
Many were standing in groups near the apartment complex waiting for directions on where to look next.
"You feel helpless," Ms. Howerton said. "You just don't have something like this happen often, especially in Monroe. But we're not going to stop."
Nevaeh is described as a white female who was last seen wearing a light blue sleeveless shirt with red and white horizontal stripes and a white v-neck collar. She was also wearing blue jean shorts with no shoes or socks. She has long brown hair, brown eyes, is about 3'10" tall and weighs 45lbs.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Central Dispatch at (734) 243-7070 or the Detective Bureau at (734) 240-7530.

I couldn't agree more. Maybe if a person knows that if they sexually abuse a child they would be shot on the spot, maybe that would curb this violence some, but maybe not.

I do not think that the state of which our economy is in is much help either, though I know it is not a good excuse it seems that it has become and excuse for some so far.  Look at the mother in Albaquerque who burried her child in at the playground after smothering him.  I agree with what you have said MyTime.

Just as I'm sitting here in my apartment complex... out my back sliding glass door, there is a 3 yo girl playing alone... no parents in site... I of course will keep my eye on her.  You should need a license to have children.  UGH!

Look at the rise in fathers taking out their whole families too...it's all so tragic.
