Why would they be asked to stop searching?  That makes no sense....we are still in the beginning stages of this case, time is not something that is wasted right now.  What is going on????

I read on the monroe search site that police are worried that the amount of people searching may be compromising evidence.

You took the words right out of my mouth, Dolce - yet ANOTHER ridiculous contradictory statement from this woman. She is probably just changing her story thinking it will either protect him from going back to jail for violating his parole (ie: having a romantic relationship with anyone with a minor child) or keep herself from looking so despicable for choosing him as a BF . . . or simply covering her tracks. Certainly cannot giver her any credit for TOO much complex thought. Once again, putting herself before the welfare of this child whom she was supposed to love & protect.

Yep she was stupid, the grandmother did not try enough to protect the little girl, the mom was neglectful it seems, she is not the shinning example of a mom nor was the grandma. Here's some good news.  Apparently the FBI's Cincinnati Field Office has received quite a few tips relating to the "Mall" sighting. They are following up on them.  Interestingly, there were 2 separate reports of this incident.

Why do I have the feeling the SO abused this child..and Mom and SO came up with a plan to sell her to someone?  The things they have done for cash before ..robbery, home invasions and selling drugs.  Now if Mom is pregnant again..well she doesn't need a spare so SO may have convinced her to sell the child to someone.

Only bringing this up as a last hope..that way the little girl might actually be alive with someone that wanted her.

Police continue search for missing Michigan girl

MONROE, Mich. (AP) — The search for a missing 5-year-old girl who disappeared from her apartment complex was expanded Wednesday to more than 100 searchers.

FBI agents, local police and others on a task force checked tips and spread out across Monroe County in the hunt for Nevaeh Buchanan. She was last seen Sunday night in the parking lot at the complex in Monroe, 40 miles south of Detroit.

Monroe County Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield identified a "person of interest" in the case as George Kennedy, a friend of Nevaeh's mother.

Kennedy, 39, is in custody on an unrelated parole violation. He is a registered sex offender who was released from prison in 2003 after serving time for fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Crutchfield said no arrests had been made in the possible abduction. He wouldn't discuss specifics about Kennedy or name other persons of interest in the investigation.

All 180 units in the apartment were searched, more than 200 tips had been investigated and Andrew Arena, special agent in charge of the FBI's Detroit office, said he was going to bring in more agents.

Meanwhile, a makeshift search party of neighbors and family also was organized to look for Nevaeh, whose disappearance has touched the southeastern Michigan community.

Nevaeh's grandmother, Sherry Buchanan, spoke to reporters Wednesday afternoon outside the apartment building where she, her daughter, Jennifer Buchanan, and Nevaeh live.

The grandmother clutched some of Nevaeh's favorite toys, including a pink guitar, motorcycles and stuffed dogs.

"I know she's missing all her animals," said Sherry Buchanan, standing with her son, Michael, and Nevaeh's father, Shane Hinojosa.

Hinojosa lives in Toledo, Ohio, but has been staying in a tent on the apartment grounds since learning of his daughter's disappearance.

They stood near the spot where Nevaeh disappeared. Sherry Buchanan said her daughter had been in and out of the apartment Sunday and the windows were open.

"If Nevaeh would've yelled, Jennifer would have heard her," she said.

Hinojosa said he is risking arrest to be in Monroe County, where authorities have issued warrants against him for failure to pay child support. He said the family is setting aside differences while they search for Nevaeh.

"I'm here to find my little girl, dead or alive," he said.

Quarry, lake being searched as efforts continue to find Monroe missing girl

MONROE - A quarry and a man-made lake, both privately owned, are being searched as a task force of more than 100 local, state, and federal law enforcement officials continues its efforts to find 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan.

Monroe County Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield said during a press conference Wednesday morning the two sites are targets of the search now, and a helicopter and canine units are being used in searches as tips come in to authorities. More than 200 tips have been received, the sheriff said.

No arrests have been made, but the sheriff said people of interest have been interviewed by law enforcement officials.

Sheriff Crutchfield said his office as well as the FBI and others are being staffed 24 hours a day in an effort to locate the girl who has been missing since Sunday night.

When asked about reports of a hunting knife being found in connection with the missing girl, Sheriff Crutchfield said property found as part of the investigation has been sent to the Michigan State Police Crime Lab for analysis. He would not confirm that the property was a knife.

The quarry is located on the south end in Monroe Township off Laplaisance Road and Dixie Highway, where divers from the Wayne County Sheriff's Department and Grosse Ile fire department are in the water searching. The other site, on the north end, is off North Dixie Highway near I-75 in Frenchtown Township.

Following the press conference, Sherry Buchanan, Nevaeh's grandmother, who has custody of the girl, held her own press conference Wednesday afternoon near a tree at the apartment complex where Nevaeh was last seen.

She begged for the safe return of her granddaughter. While pleading with the public, she also held stuffed animals and other toys belonging to Nevaeh.

One was a stuffed beagle named Harley that Nevaeh has carried with her to school in a backpack.

Nevaeh was riding a bike or scooter when she disappeared about 6:30 p.m. Sunday from the Charlotte Arms garden apartments, 1160 North Macomb St. in Monroe, where she lives with her mother, Jennifer Buchanan, and her grandmother.

In an Amber Alert issued by the sheriff's office, Nevaeh was described as wearing a light blue sleeveless shirt with red and white horizontal stripes and a white V-neck collar, as well as blue jean shorts but no shoes or socks.

Authorities said they believed she was abducted and in extreme danger.

Late Tuesday a search restarted for the little girl who has been missing and feared abducted since Sunday night. Hundreds of relatives, friends, and volunteers Tuesday night scoured the fields and wooded areas after they had gathered and received flashlights and instructions at a Kmart store about a mile from the girl's apartment complex. Thousands of copies of a flyer featuring Nevaeh's picture have been distributed.

This is sooo sad.  I'm trying to keep my hopes high, but I think they are shifting from search and rescue to search and recovery.  That effing mom knows something.  She's implicated.  Good God, how could you do this to a child.  I'll just never, ever, ever be able to understand how someone could stare into the eyes of little girl like this and take her life from her.  Such a sweet innocent little girl.  I'm crying now, gotta go. . .
