This is where the waters get muddy given that so many different versions of this have been reported.  I have read that she called police at 8, 7:30, and now 6:15.  Would like to have this exact information pinned down.

I see that they want to say that he has an aliby, well how do they explain the failed lie detector test?  How do they explain the childrens matching stories?  How do they explain the blood, hair, and pictures found within the SO's room??  Is there another victim we are not yet aware of??

They're having some issues with the childrens' stories.  Apparently the day Nevaeh went missing, the same children were interviewed and they reported seeing nothing unusual.  Perhaps they were scared the first time.  Perhaps they were coached the second time.  They're kids--who knows.  But the story about seeing the little girl being stabbed before going into the woods to see Daddy George just doesn't seem right to me.  If he did stab her near the apartments for this child to see, how did he get a stabbed, dying child back to his motel room that was at least a mile away.  At a minimum, with the number of private searchers, we would have heard about blood being found.  If he used the van, we would have heard about blood in the van.  I know, he "could have" wrapped her up, he could have done this, he could have done that to conceal traces of blood.  We just don't know.  But you know me, I'm the eternal optimist. I'm still holding onto my thread of hope.

The part that puzzles me the most is "Going into the woods to see Daddy George."  That is using personal descriptors and language this child would not ordinarily know unless she heard them.

Jess..I agree with you about the stabbing part...there would have been blood...and why would George stab her as soon as she walked to him in the woods? wouldn't he grab her first or walk away with her instead of stabbing her in full view?
I am holding onto the same thread of hope that you are...with everything that is going on, I too am going to not let myself get on that emotional roller coaster...last night was way too hard to go through again until I know for sure...
I still don't think that this mother knows when her child went missing...she is just giving the time that she first checked on her imo...and she probably would not have checked on her then if the child had not come to the door for whatever reason...

Eric Schaefer, 38, served just 3 years for that crime. Deputies say he has failed to register as a sex offender.

Schaefer stands 5 ft. 6 in. tall and weighs 115 lbs. He's now wanted for a violation of his probation.

Isn't that the truth.  Toledo is so close to where Nevaeh went missing, you got to wonder. . . especially if Kennedy's alibi pans out.  I'm sure they want to question him.

I am really past mad now.  Watching the video his parole officer KNEW he had been breaking parole continuously.  THEY KNEW HE WAS IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH A WOMAN WITH A CHILD!!!!  The parole officer's supervisor KNEW yet they both let him stay out?   They should be flogged in public.
I am also sick to my stomach that the police took sheets as well as carpet and part of the floor from the hotel room.

George Kennedy is still a POI
There are other POI's but they will not name any names.
They are not only focusing on POI's.
They have many pieces of evidence being tested. Evidence from the search warrant and evidence that various searches have turned up.

Today they will be revisiting the apartment complex and interviewing all the residents.

Divers find no clues at quarries

Divers completed their search of two area quarries and found nothing of substance connected to the disappearance of Nevaeh Buchanan, the Monroe girl who has been missing for almost four days now.

About 100 federal, state and local police officers continue to pore over and pursue more than 200 tips that have come from all over Michigan and beyond.

"Statistically it is not a good sign," said FBI Special Agent in Charge Andrew G. Arena. "But you don't give up hope."

Monroe County Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield said a task force is working 24 hours a day collecting information and conducting searches. He reiterated that although George Kennedy, a registered sex offender and one-time friend of the girl's mother, still is incarcerated, he is not considered a suspect.

No arrests have been made in the case, Sheriff Crutchfield said. Mr. Kennedy, 39, the sheriff said, is someone detectives have interviewed but he is not the focus of the investigation.

"We have identified persons of interest," Sheriff Crutchfield said. "They are only persons of interest."

The sheriff declined to be specific about evidence collected, including reports of a bloody knife that was found. He also declined to comment on reports that a girl matching the description of Nevaeh was seen at a mall in Ohio.

On Wednesday, divers searched two quarries in the area but have uncovered no evidence in connection with the case. Capt. Maryanne Ortman said the quarries are at S. Dixie Hwy. and Dunbar Rd., which has an average depth of more than 60 feet, and one behind the Holiday Inn off N. Dixie Hwy., which is around 42 feet deep.

"We've exhausted our search," Capt. Ortman said. "We feel we've checked them very well."

The only item recovered that was of any interest was an old shotgun, which has nothing to do with Nevaeh's disappearance, Capt. Ortman said. Up to 25 officers and divers from several agencies participated in the search of the quarries, which were chosen because they are close to where Nevaeh disappeared. As of today there are no plans to search other quarries.

Agent Arena said the task force is doing all it can to try to find the girl. Experts are involved in the investigation, including a child abduction team and child behavioral specialists. Every scenario is being considered.

"We're open to anything right now," he said. "You can't get focused on one person. There is a big picture out there."

Agent Arena said there are no indications that Nevaeh's disappearance is linked to any other case. He added that this type of abduction where the child is missing for this long is rare and that the police are doing all they can.

"We're all humans, too," he said. "We have kids. This is tragic."

MONROE, Mich. (WXYZ) - During a Thursday morning news conference, Monroe County Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield told reporters that they are still following up on tips in the search for Nevaeh Buchanan. Crutchfield also told reporters that they believe the little girl is still alive.

After candles burned Wednesday night at a community vigil for missing 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan, police are now examining disturbing evidence taken from the motel room of a "person of interest" that may be linked to her disappearance.

The new evidence included in the search warrant came from the residence of 39-year-old George Kennedy. He's a friend of the little girl's mother and a registered sex offender.

Kennedy is currently being held on an unrelated parole violation.

After Nevaeh disappeared on Sunday, police searched a room at the Motel 7 in Monroe where Kennedy had been staying.

Investigators seized shorts, a towel with blood stains, samples of blood from the wall above the bathroom sink, photos of a white female similar to Nevaeh and hairs from the toilet and bathroom floor.

Kennedy's Van was also searched. Inside, investigators found fishing weights and a silver multi-tool with blood on it.

So far, no arrests have been made and no charges are pending.

Meantime, Nevaeh's family is pleading for her safe return. Investigators continued their search for the little girl on Wednesday, searching two quarries located near her home.

'Looking in all directions' for missing 5-year-old

MONROE, MICH. -- Authorities in Monroe County continue to search for 5-year-old Nevaeh Amaya Buchanan Thursday.  An Amber Alert was issued Sunday night, after the girl was reported missing.

Nevaeh was last seen playing outside the apartment complex she shares with her mother, Jennifer, and grandmother in Monroe.

Monroe County Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield said Thursday that authorities are following any and all leads on this case.  He said there is a "person of interest" in the case; however, they are not focusing solely on that person.

On Wednesday, officers searched the hotel room of George Kennedy, who family describes as Jennifer's boyfriend.  The search of the room at Motel 7 in Monroe revealed a pair of blood-stained shorts, a towel covered in blood, and blood stains above the bathroom sink.  Investigators also removed hairs found in the room.

Evidence seized in the search is being processed.  A preliminary test reveals that the blood found is human.

Kennedy is currently behind bars on a parole violation.  He is listed as a registered sex offender.

Sheriff Crutchfield urged the public offer up any information of value regarding this case.  He said the focus of this investigation is not solely on George Kennedy, and they are looking in all directions to find Nevaeh.

Search crews scoured two quarries Wednesday in the vicinity of Monroe.  A cadaver dog was used, but nothing was found in the day long search.

Authorities are once again interviewing residents at the Charlotte Arms Apartment Complex, where Nevaeh lived.
