Oh I am just sick & heartbroken! Yes, JB should go to jail. Neveah was 5 years old, Jennifer Buchanan, that's what mother's are for! To take care of & protect their children, because 5 year old's cannot take care of or protect themselves! Neveah shouldn't have been in  the street, she also should not have been alone! Maybe if you would have been with her, she would not have been in the street. At this point, I don't even know if I believe she was in the street. Ugh. I don't have kids, but my nephew is not allowed in the street & you know what? He never is, that's because his mom keeps an eye on him & makes sure he never is! Some mother you are, Jennifer.

A body has been found near the River Raisin, believed to be the body of missing 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan.


Ryan Bickley, 15, said his father, Guy Bickley, found the body this morning when he was by the river fishing with his grandfather around 11 a.m.


The teenager said the body was encased in a cement block and they could smell it. His father, he said, chipped a piece of cement away and saw skin and when he saw skin, he stopped and called police. The block was near the water.


Jennifer Buchanan, Nevaeh's mother, is huddled with friends at her apartment in Monroe.


She has not been informed if the body is her daughter, according to her friend, Holly Howerton, 35, of Monroe, who has spent the last two weeks at her side.


“We are just sitting here waiting to find out,” Howerton said at 8:22 p.m.


Howerton said they don't know anything other than “what is being said on the news.”


“We are waiting at the house, so whenever the police officer does come and let us know if it is or isn't" Nevaeh's body, Howerton said. “So we are here.”


A search was underway early this evening in Raisinville Township as police followed a tip that missing Nevaeh could be in the area.

NG just reported the same thing, body encased in cement, found by a teenage boy fishing with his father...dear merciful God.    This reeks that it was more than one person involved...I am absolutely convinced the mother knew or took part in all or part of this, no doubt in my mind.

The mom is trying to say that LE hasn't contacted her about the body being found.  That is the opposite of what others were reporting that LE had contacted the family and told them to stay close.  This mom needs to be put away for life.

It sounded like she was encased in cement, not cinderblocks. Some body worked to hide her body........There will be evidence of this somewhere. Cement is not neat, and it has "markers" in it. It can be identified. JMO

You may be onto something. It really sounds like more than one person could be involved in this. Not sure I can bear to hear more. These child murders just keep getting worse and worse. How many ways can you kill a child and dispose of her? What a sick and evil world it is.

God ...I am sick to death of this crap happening to our kids!
Was the body found on the river bank or was the body in water???
there should be fibers stuck to or into the cement...fibers from clothes...possibly skin cells? if it wasn't it water?

BREAKING: Child's Body Found in River Raisin

 MONROE, Mich. (AP) - Action News has learned that Monroe County Sheriff's Department investigators found a child's body west of Monroe that may be the body of the missing 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan.

Officers say two fishermen discovered the body Thursday afternoon. Investigators have cordoned off an area near the River Raisin in the vicinity of Ida-Maybee and Neiman roads.

Evidence experts are preparing to examine a body that searchers discovered that had clothing similar to what Nevaeh was wearing when she disappeared from her Monroe home on May 24.
