Our tomatoes are doing really good this year so far.  I hope they will keep going.  Last year they were pffffft!  My eggplants are so-so and my zucchini are doing well.  I planted some big sunflowers and they are doing GREAT.  Too bad I can't eat them...

That weather sounds miserable. I'd be laying out flat under the A/C

It has been miserable for over a week now...tempers are touchy   .....we have to water in the early morning and at night....my maters are not going to make it I fear.....

I'll bet tempers are touchy, I know I get very cranky when its too hot.
I sure hope your maters make it. It'd be a shame to lose them.

We went to World Market today and some guy in the parking lot was having a temper tantrum cause HIS cart rolled back into his car..he was kicking the cart...go figure.....he should have put the cart in the cart rack and it wouldn't have rolled back.....but he sure was pizzed. I hope we don;t lose them either...but they are looking pretty puny and we have about a dozen on the vine already....but not ripe enuf to pick yet.

Well, Yah. I think the heat got to that guy  Monkey Devil!

Your maters just might make it, though, They're pretty hardy compared to some other veggies.

I planted some dark purple morning glories and some dark blue ones on the black chain link fence around my garden.  I wasn't sure how I would like them, since I usually do the traditional softer old time colors, but WOW!  It's turning out nice.  I planted some moonflowers in there, but they don't bloom same time as morning glories  but the larger, lighter colored leaves make a nice contrast.

I love sunflowers!!!  Because of putting a new deck on the back and a new fence I didn't get to plant anything except the maters this year. But our neighbors on both sides have big gardens....so I can go and get things from either....and in turn they came come to my herb garden,,,I have 3 kinds of basil, cilantro, mint, parsley...2 kinds, oregano and chives, and rosemary.....thank good for that....our neighbors on one side are Bosnian....'Dina' makes fresh bread every couple days and brings us fresh bread...oh my..it is sooooo good!!  No wonder my azz is getting bigger!!

Sunny~  I have oregano, thyme, rosemary (grows like a weed, and the deer don't eat it), foxglove, fennel, garlic, marjoram, sage, chives etc.-my dh and I like to cook and enjoy the fresh herbs.  I planted basil, but it takes so dang much to make pesto.  (except for the foxglove, no cooking with that of course)

You should go ahead and plant those sunflower seeds.  It's worth a try.

We haven't had the house that long.  The first year the giant red wasp infestation and copperhead snakes kept me from gardening.  Last year I did tomatoes in buckets and a few herbs.  Then this year I did square foot gardening, and it's working well.  Where I live, it is so dang rocky...
