I can't sleep and it's almost time to get up................

Anyway, for no particular reason, I was reading the LCD archives, and thought I'd share a smile with monkeys, once again, from Peaches. I think she'd like that.

Missed my Monkey friends last night.  I stopped by quick and read the weather reports.  Gotta say I've been enjoying the weather here even though it's been cooler than normal and rainy.  I'm just not ready for the heat...so I feel for ya Mytime and Always 1.  One thing that is a bit troubling though is the extended forecast shows rain for as far as the eye can see.  So soggy days ahead.

Anyway, I hope you all have a pleasant day with blue skys above.

Yikes!  I hope you and your neighbors are careful, Blonde    Thank you for sharing the bear picture with us.  The trees look just huge (not to mention the big black bear!!)

That's why I look back and forth and up and down when I go outside!!!  They climb the big trees, especially the younger cubs/bears.

Thanks, Blonde for the pic....looks like your neighborhood is like mine.  We share with all kinds of critters.

Blonde and 2NJ.................... YIKES! I have lived here all my life, and I swear, growing up we rarely saw deer. Today, I can't keep flowers in the yard! I honestly see more deer than dogs and I always warn anyone not used to the neighborhood to drive carefully if they're coming over, because you can't get to my house without seeing a few. I've had to wait for turkeys to cross the road, and see red and gray fox regularly. You can hear wolves howl at night and just recently, police were trying to find a bear that a bunch of neighbors reported seeing.

None of that stuff used to happen when I was growing up! However, this is the view from my Mom's driveway, so you can see the mountain range. My house and hers is in the same neighborhood, so you can see why it's such a good place for wildlife.

They are around here, too, and there have always been rabbits in our neighbor's property next door.  You are right, they are easier to deal with than the bears.

CBB,

Yes, the deer do eat the flowers & shrubbery.  I've been trying to put in things that they don't like, especially in the areas of our property outside the fencing.   There were these ugly little briar bushes lining the ledge near the road & our driveway.  I left them there as a buffer because the deer didn't touch them. One day came home and found that MIL cut them to the ground.  She thought she was doing us a favor.  They regrew eventually, but then when they paved our road, they got cut to the ground again.  I haven't looked to see if they are growing back.   I don't venture too far off the property since the bruins are around.

Yes, I'm a chicken.

Oh, ME TOO! I hate going out at night! I sprint to the car! (Hate to admit it, but the garage is too full to park in). If you can come up with stuff they won't eat, please post it! I gave away all my day lilies because it was going on 6 years since they'd made it beyond buds. One morning, I'd just get up and the tops were just nipped clean off. I've got a planting area that is visable from the kitchen and family room, and  so enjoyed the flowers! I'd love to have some again, but I tried everything, including some sort of wildcat urine I bought at a nursery that guarenteed to be a deer repellent. It didn't work either. Maybe among all the other wildlife, wild cats are in the mountains too, and the deer are used to it!

They don't like daffodils, but they only bloom in the spring...they ate the tops off tulips....will have to think about what others have told me and I'll post.

LOL....our garage is full, too.  It's been a planned project for a couple of years now and hasn't happened.  There are things in there (furniture & whatnot) from when our sons were in college....Sad part is anything big that has to be thrown away, we can only put a couple pieces out for trash at a time, plus make an appointment for the pickup.  That will make the clean up task take longer.
