Today marks the 6 month anniversary that this Little Angel was taken from this world. Please take a moment to light a candle and say a prayer for Justice. Nevaeh continues to tug at my heart. While I'm sure Justice will eventually prevail, it saddens me that Nevaeh will not be here to enjoy the holidays; to write her letter to Santa; to wake up Christmas morning with that "Santa was here!" excitement. My God I wish I could understand why.

Friends, family gather 6 mths after Nevaeh's disappearance

Last night friends and family marked six months since five-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan disappeared from her apartment complex in Monroe. A dozen family members and friends gathered at the playground outside Riverside School in Monroe where Nevaeh was a student. They lit candles and held signs next to the bench built in the five-year-old's honor. Family members worry not only about the investigation, but that people in the community are forgetting about their little girl.

On May 24th Nevaeh Buchanan disappeared from the Charlotte Arms Apartment Complex in Monroe. Eleven days later, fishermen found her body on the banks of the River Raisin encased in cement. Autopsy results indicate she may have been buried alive.

A few persons of interest were named in the case but still no one has been charged with little Nevaeh's kidnapping or murder. The Monroe County Sheriff's Department continues to follow up on leads. Anyone with information about Nevaeh is encouraged to call them at 734-243-7070.

Masons' ID program honors murdered Monroe youngster
   
A free child identification program in memory of a murdered Monroe girl is being offered by the Wayne Masonic Lodge No. 11 on Sunday, Dec. 20.

This is the second time the Masons have hosted an identification program remembering 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan, who was abducted and found dead in June. The request to hold the program in honor of Nevaeh came from her cousin, Risa Thompson.

“She had heard about our child identification program and went through the Grand Lodge Web site. We held one in August and she asked if we could do it again around Christmas,” said Mason Bernie Brewer. “Anything for the kids.”

The child identification program will run from noon to 4 p.m. at the Wayne Masonic Temple, 37137 Palmer, west of Wayne Road, Westland.

Each child who goes through the process will receive a dental impression as well as a CD containing a photo, video, digital fingerprints and their vital information.

Parents or guardians of children who participate must be present and fill out a permission slip for the child to receive this service.

“I hope we have a good turnout. Through Justice for Neveah, Risa has been doing a lot of outreach and getting people signed up,” said Brewer.

The Michigan Masonic Child ID Program provides the family with everything needed for the Amber Alert System.

The program also is considered one of the most comprehensive programs of its kind by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and is endorsed by the Michigan Sheriff's Association as well.

Sister, you have said so much in so few words.  You cannot imagine how much you have helped me toward resolving an internal struggle I face on an almost daily basis.  There's not much more I can say other than Thank You from the bottom of my heart.

Yes, I've seen those, thanks.  Every time I look at them, it brings back memories of such a difficult time.  God how I wish I could turn back time to May 23rd and know what I now know.  Nevaeh really hit me hard.  I will never forget her, and will continue working as hard as I can to win Justice for her.

 The Masons - and Santa - are hosting a free child identification and gift program Sunday in honor of murdered 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan.

The Monroe girl was found buried along the bank of the Raisin River, 10 days after she was abducted June 4 while riding her bike her apartment complex. No one has been arrested.

Held at the request of the Monroe girl's family, Sunday's program will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at the Wayne Masonic Temple, 37137 Palmer Road in Westland.


Each child will receive a dental impression and a CD with a photo, video, digital fingerprints and vital information. From Santa, they will also receive a toy and new hat, gloves and socks. The group is also offering a limited number of food baskets for families in need.
