New Lead In Nevaeh Case
 
Monroe (WWJ)  -- Investigators are looking into new leads that might help solve the murder of five-year old Nevaeh Buchanan. 

A Monroe couple has come forward, telling police that they helped two men pull their car out of a muddy bank along the River Raisin.  The riverbank was in the same area where Nevaeh's body was found, and the car was pulled from the bank just hours after Nevaeh disappeared.

Police are also scrutinizing a gas station surveillance tape where convicted sex offender George Kennedy, 39, was seen the night the girl went missing.  He and acquaintance Roy Smith, 48, are now in a Jackson prison on parole violations.  Both have been questioned by police about the death but neither has been charged.

While her body has been positively identified, a cause of death for the five-year old hasn't been determined.  Meantime, an outpouring of community support and grief is expected when visitations begin Thursday at noon at the Merkle Funeral Home in Monroe.

Donations to help pay funeral expenses can be made payable to the Community Foundation of Monroe County, with a note that it is for the Nevaeh Buchanan Memorial Fund. Contact 734-242-1976 for more information.

Good Morning Monkeys and guests!   

Now that we are hearing reports of a car being pulled out from the scene on the Raisin River, I noticed something in the arial pics we were seeing at the scene the day of recovery. There was a set of tire tracks that went straight back from the road on the opposite side of the road from the river. I wondered who would have a vehicle over there. I'm wondering now if this has anything to do with the pulling of the car out on June 24. I'll attempt to find the picture I was referring to. Any help would be appreciated. I'm not fully awake yet.

Donations pour in for Nevaeh's funeral

As they did to help search for missing 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan, the Monroe community is pulling together again -- this time to bury the little girl.

From an $80,000 Harley-Davidson hearse in honor of Nevaeh's love of motorcycles, to money for her casket, most of the costs of Nevaeh's funeral are being donated.

"There's been a lot of outpouring," said Sherry Buchanan, Nevaeh's grandmother.

Three funeral homes offered to donate their services, with the family deciding on Merkle Funeral Service in Monroe.

The funeral home's director, Brian Merkle, said a number of veterans' groups and motorcycle clubs have offered to participate in the processional after hearing about how Nevaeh enjoyed playing with toy motorcycles.

And the Monroe County Community Credit Union has established a fund to help cover incidentals, he said.

"The whole community's pulling together," Merkle said.

Well, in the 3 pages of RSO's on Michigans sex offender site living in Monroe  zip 48162 there are none that have tattoo's all over their necks.  Of course, it wouldn't be that easy, but had to check anyway.

Thanks nrcg....I look at the pictures of these sex offenders and my blood boils and I want to strip the skin off off them will pliers while they are alive and listen to them scream and cry for mercy...while no mercy is given
