$50K Reward Offered In Nevaeh Case
Girl Found Dead Along River Raisin In 2009

MONROE, Mich. -- A group aimed at solving the 2009 slaying of a 5-year-old Michigan girl has raised the reward in the case to $50,000.

Nevaeh Buchanan disappeared May 24, 2009, from an apartment complex in Monroe -- about 35 miles south of Detroit. Her body was found in a shallow grave 10 days later along the nearby River Raisin.

"Justice for Nevaeh" keeps girl's murder in spotlight

It's been nearly two years, and the Monroe murder of five-year old Nevaeh Buchanan remains unsolved. The group "Justice for Nevaeh" is trying to change that.

The organization held two Easter parties in Nevaeh's name. They hope that keeping her story in the public eye will finally bring some much needed closure to the case.

Saturday afternoon, dozens of children remembered her with an Easter egg hunt. For friends and family, the event brought back all of the unanswered questions and sadness.

The group Justice for Neveah is planning to gather all of their volunteers at the end of this month for a community forum. They would like to reconnect with searchers and try to figure out their next step in helping to solve the case.

Thank you Cookie, Sister and everyone else for their support.  I made a promise to this child going on two years ago.  I will not break it.

On a happier note, our Easter Egg Hunt & Party was fantastic!  We had over 250 kids and 150 adults in attendance.  As best we can tell, the kids found all of the 2000+ goody-filled eggs we carefully hid all over the grounds of Riverside Elementary!  In addition to the hunt itself, we had two other very special highlites.  First, the Easter Bunny showed up with special surprises for all the kids.  The excitement and happiness in their eyes were PRICELESS!  Second, five lucky kids pulled red-tipped lollipops from our lollipop tree and won brand new bicycles! 

The level of support for Justice for Nevaeh, both locally and beyond, continues to grow.  It is amazing how many people come up to us and thank us for what we are doing for Nevaeh.  While the kids get to enjoy all the festivities, the parents, citizens and the media never forget Nevaeh.  Our sincere thank you goes out to everyone--we could not do it without you.

All of this will lead to good news someday--I know it.

  I will never forget this little girl.
  For those who believe in Psychics and communication with those beyond the veil of death I would like to tell you a story here that I hope may lessen your pain over losing Nevaeh.
  One night I had four people over who were interested in the Paranormal and communication with those beyond the veil of death and as we sat about the living room at the time the little girl was missing, I was telling them about the case and how I had been meditating trying to help find her when suddenly we all sat up in surprise as a little girls voice said:
  "I'm going to bed now Grandma"
  I believe that was Nevaeh speaking to me from the spirit world and saying goodnight to her grandma.
  I have often thought this might be the way she said goodbye to her grandma each night when she went to sleep and I have quite often thought about telling this story to her grandma but I know she suffered greatly at her death and didn't know how to approach her but if someone would like to pass this along to the grandma it might make things easier for her because losing someone is a terrible thing and I know she loved and misses her granddaughter.
  I would also like for her to know that its possible the little girl will visit she and her mother in their dreams and or come to them in thought.

Hello everyone.  Hope you are all doing well.  Justice for Nevaeh was honored to be invited to, and attend, the First Annual Michigan Missing Person's event at Ford Field in Detroit.  The event was excellent, although heartbreaking. 

Here's a photo of our presentation.  I am so proud of my partner in this, and of all of the volunteers that so graciously dedicate their time to help and support Justice for Nevaeh.  A very blessed thanks to each and every one of you.

Hello everyone!  I am so very proud to announce that on May 19, 2011, Justice for Nevaeh was recognized as a Community Shining Star at an award ceremony sponsored by the Monroe County ISD.  We were presented with a beautiful award certificate (see below!)  You know, as a lawyer for many years, I've received different awards and recognitions from time to time.  But NONE is more meaningful than this one.  Thanks to everyone for all your continued support.
