Searchers found Amber's skeletal remains early Saturday on the Pala Indian Reservation, a sparsely populated area that occupies more than 12,000 acres in the northeast corner of San Diego County, said Escondido Police Chief Jim Maher. The county medical examiner's office confirmed later in the day the remains were Amber's through dental records, he said.
Maher declined to answer questions during a news conference Sunday because he said the discovery was part of an ongoing murder investigation. He said a "lead" brought investigators to the reservation, but he did not elaborate.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100308/ap_on_re_us/us_missing_teen

Lots more to read here BUT... This was Indian reservation land and Nobody is allowed on it.
Searchers were not allowed to roam this land. It is Severn and separate from the united states of America. when it comes down to chasing the bad guys or doing something like searching for lost and missing people. Only The Elders of the tribe and the U.S. Marshall have jurisdiction. I am not real clear on that law.. But apparently if a crime is committed in Escondido and the culprit runs onto Indian land LE in Escondido have to call a U.S. Marshall to go get the bad guy..
I am not sure how much ass the U.S. Marshall service has to kiss to go there..

Carrie approached Tribal leaders..

It's not like you can't drive around Edward, I've been there.  It's not fenced in.  There is a HUGE casino out there as well.  Actually a couple of casinos.  My point is that if you ask they would probably say no but I don't think they would know if you didn't ask.

reports right now are conflicting whether Amber was found on the reservation or just outside of the reservation to the NE.  Tomorrows news conference will hopefully answer it.

This article states Amber was found north of the reservation

<snipped>

There is no information about what lead investigators to the Pala area.

Word of a break in the case became apparent Sunday afternoon shortly before 2:00 p.m.  when the San Diego County Sheriff's Department announced a news conference would be held about the case at 3:30 at the sheriff's headquarters in Kearny Mesa.

Minutes later an announcement came that the location had been changed to the Escondido Police Department Heaquarters.  During the brief news conference, Escondido police chief Jim Maher was the only official who spoke.  Sheriff Bill Gore, who is facing his first election after being appointed to the position by county officials, stood silently behind Maher.

Gore told a few reporters after the news conference in Escondido that there would be a news conferece at the Sheriff's department Monday with more details of the case revealed.

The Escondido police department has come under frequent fire for how the Amber Dubois case was handled.  Most recently Amber's father said he wished the kind of search and investigative effort that the Chelsea King case received could have been launched for his daughter.

The San Diego County Sheriff's  department was the lead agency in the King case, even though the search area and crime scene were within the City of San Diego limits and within the jurisdiction of the San Diego Police Department.  Sheriff Bill Gore and his public relations spokesperson, Jan Caldwell, conducted all news conferences and major announcements about the King case.

I dont know if anyone commented about the attempted kidnapping in oct 28,2009, but it happened in lake elsinore and the suspect does not look like john gardner or they are saying it is not him. http://www.riversidesheriff.org/press/09301-lak.htm , maybe he has something to do about kristine nicole hamilton's disappearance like you said she is from moreno valley and she was 17 years old at the time.

I can’t remember if what this thread or the Who is Kevin O’Reilly thread, but I remember someone posted that JAG had at some point access or had a gold car, a black sedan and a Cadillac….

LE has already suggested a possible connection between this missing person and JAG.  He does resemble the sketch as well.

In the above story link, to the right is a photo of area roped off with police tape next with two police cars sitting in/on a crossroad or driveway entrance. The caption underneath the photo says:

On Sunday, the scene of discovery of Amber Dubois' skeletal remains were taped off on the west side of rural Pala Temecula Road about 3.5 miles from the intersection with Pala Mission Road near the Pala Casino

I looked at the google map of Pala Temecula Road from the intersection with Pala Mission and going up (North)  there are about 4-5 streets on the west side and probably twice that on the east side for about 5 miles or so. It looks rural but it is dotted with quite a few residences and a ranch or two. I dont know how to bring a google map of satelite images over.
(maybe a smarter monkey can)  an angelic monkey
I am just trying to get a feel for where she may have been located and thought it looked odd that the police were at the foot of an intersecting street.

Site of Amber's remains is north of Pala Mission
It's the same road along which Leticia Hernandez was found in 1989

The body of Amber Dubois was apparently found about three miles north of the historic Pala Mission, in a woodsy area.

Authorities have not confirmed the location, but Escondido police perimeter tape is strung around a spot west of Pala Temecula Road — about 10 miles north of the city limits.

It's the same area where 7-year-old Leticia Hernandez was discovered 15 months after she disappeared from her Oceanside home in 1989.

As of this evening, the site was guarded by a lone Escondido officer who declined comment. Two police cruisers were parked nearby.

Amber was 14 when she disappeared the morning of Feb. 13, 2009, as she was walking to Escondido High School. Her body was found Saturday in the Pala area of North County, authorities announced today.

There was no mention during today's news conference of John Albert Gardner III, the convicted sex offender charged last week in the rape and killing of 17-year-old Chelsea King of Poway.

Chelsea disappeared on the afternoon of Feb. 25 while on a jog by herself around Lake Hodges. Like Amber’s abduction, Chelsea’s murder made national headlines.

Chelsea’s body was discovered in a tributary to Lake Hodges.

Pala Creek is near the area where Amber's body was apparently found. But because authorities would take no questions at the news conference, there is no official information about how or where her remains were situated.

Okay, I have been looking for the picture of the school parking lot with that red truck... I can't find it.  Can someone tell me if there is a way to effectively search for things like this within SM or can someone post it again?

I wanted to look at the pic again and see if there was a gold car, black sedan or cadillac in the lot (as those are the vehicles said to belong to JAG).  I am wondering if he had planned this out or if it was spontaneous.  Part of me thinks it was planned as there were no real witnessess with any viable info.  He could have know the exact path Amber walks, arrived early enough to park his car on the side of the street Amber will be walking to school.  He leaves it unlocked, then walks towards the direction she will be coming from and waits.  When he sees her coming, he begins walking and catches up with her and begins talking about I don't pretend to know what.  When they reach his car, he opens the door and shoves her in or convinces her somehow to get in... I am leaning more towards the shoving in, and off they go.  The library where that article says the bloodhounds followed her scent to.  What is the significance of that... Amber did love to read.... Okay, just throwing all that out there...

Not sure if this has been posted yet, my apologies if so. I thought some of the statements were interesting.

<snipped-article is long>

Last reports of seeing her

A neighbor who had dropped his son off at school said he noticed Amber walking on the sidewalk as he drove north on Broadway. Another neighbor who was heading south on the same road to drop off her son said she nearly stopped to give Amber a ride because it was drizzling that morning.

She told police she did not stop because she believed Amber was walking with a boy. Both neighbors were seen on the school's security camera video dropping their kids off within minutes of each other, between 7:08 a.m. and 7:10 a.m.

The young man was described as tall and dark-skinned, about high school age.

Police have said he may have been the last person to see her.

A few days after Amber disappeared, police set up a roadblock at the northern end of the school to question everyone traveling through the area. They asked whether anyone had seen anything. They also asked the parents who saw her last to look at yearbooks to

Amber, who was wearing black jeans and a black hoodie that day, was probably wearing her hood up because of the rain, making her difficult to recognize.

The next day, Amber's cell phone was turned on, police have said. Someone attempted to check the phone's voice mail. The signal was picked up by a cell tower on Amber Lane in northern Escondido. The tower covers a five-mile radius, which means the phone could have been just about anywhere in Escondido.

Police issued an emergency alert phone call to homes in the area asking whether anyone had seen Amber, but again found nothing.

On Friday and Saturday, searchers scoured Kit Carson Park following a report from a group of girls that they had seen a bag containing hair last May.

The girls reminded their parents of that last week, and Escondido Police initiated the search in response. The search effort ended shortly after noon, apparently called off after Amber's body was identified.

A&B are both Pala Casino.  You can see Pala-Temecula Rd to the right of the casino.  So it sounds like the location is before you get to the casino.

That is the way I took it as well, like the pillsbury Dough Boy I assume. Odd way to describe someone as "doughy" though. I have never heard of that word before.

This is the only video I can find of the truck, I did a google search and found it there may be others out there that aren't cut.
