Once I went to Walmart at 3AM just so I could have some peace and quiet. There was hardly anybody there. As I was shopping, there was a child screaming and crying somewhere in the store. I don't know where, as I never saw it. My nerves could take no more and standing in the middle of the store I screamed at the top of my voice, "Shut that kid up...and take it home to bed!!" The child instantly stopped crying. I never saw anyone, and when I went back to the front to check out, the few employee's there were looking at me sheepishly, trying to keep from laughing....

Let's see...3:00 in the morning here usually means the mom is a crack head.  Monkey Devil!

...or maybe the child has autism/colic and the mom was looking to take the child out of the house before she/her husband hurt him/her...

 an angelic monkey

If that were the case,I would bring them home with me.   an angelic monkey

Sigh!!! Ya'll are now making me feel guilty. At the time I was an over the road truck driver that was gone all week, with my hubby staying at home by himself after his stroke. I had to work to keep up our group insurance. We had some really nice neighbors that took him under their wings and looked out after him. I had know them all my life and had grown up with the couple and their kids grew up with mine.

Anyhow, I only got home on the weekend, if I was lucky. Many times it was just for a few hours. I had to pay the bills and buy food for him to have all week, fresh milk and juice, and make fresh salads for him to have. He could only cook the basic things for himself, and the neighbor lady would bring him meals, or take him to her house to eat. I was frazzled beyond belief. I cried every time I had to leave him, and called him at least 10 times a day on the cell phone just to make sure he was ok.  Worst period of my whole life.... I would have made a terrible caretaker for a child at that time.

When my child started screaming in public, I took him home (unless we were in the grocery checkout).  I would have thought that maybe you were having a tough day, too, if I heard you yell (after feeling mega guilty of course).

I know what you mean about people letting their children go wild in stores or other places.

I have also gone to a restaurant, just to get a nice meal and some peace and quiet while he was sleeping (in the carseat next to me).  I wanted to cry when someone had their children running all over the place and yelling, too.  For whatever reason, if there are kids somewhere, they end up sitting with me (don't know what their parents are thinking) or climbing all over the floor.

It is tough to find a place where kids behave.  They are not capable of sitting for long meals and often the "family dinner" ends when one of the kids get hurt.  Then the parents glare at the waitress as is she fell down on the job of watching their children.

I am so glad they have movies now that are very late at night/early morning in the movie theater.  I wish they had them when my son was little and in the everything is too bright, too loud, too everything stage.  I would have lived there.

BEARLY, I didn't mean to offend you. I was just giving my perspective on life at that time. I've had cranky little ones too. I know that living the life is hard....I am sorry.  an angelic monkey

Beautiful Fanny, and cozy and private, I like that, nice place to read on a good day

We have lights all around at night, on the eves and in the wisteria arbor, besides the solar lights around the flower beds. It is lovely at night. We have speakers for music outside.  I may post some night time pics later. Thank you.  an angelic monkey

You are entitled to your feelings, too.  I often have the same feelings as you do.  There is one side and the other side, I think all sides are right if their intentions are good.  There is no need to apologize.  I have often wanted to do just what you did, and wish I could have.  I was always afraid that someone would take it out on the child.

Very nice Fanny.

Ditto.  Do you hire yourself out?

Lord, no!!! I could barely hold myself upright after planting everything. My hubby maintains it since we got it all done.  He has the magic touch.  Thanks!  an angelic monkey

GULP!!!

I have read about that and seen it happen.  "Now see what you did?"  The parents who are not taking the responsibility for being parents always put the responsibility on others, even if it is their child.  I only wish the parent would take heed.

I am not trying to defend letting a child go and ruin everyone else's time.  It is actually the parents who are ruining your time, not the children's.  They should no be there in the first place.  Since when do people have to go to ever party/outing to which they are invited?  When did small children start having an adult social life?  When do kids get to be kids, the are not little adults, they are children.

Okay, RO.  You can all come back now!

Fanny, you have lead a full and interesting life.  I would love to hear more.

 an angelic monkey

There have been some ups, and some downs. I have seen and done a lot. I have traveled to all 48 states by myself, and enjoyed every minute of it, mostly. I certainly found out what I was made of. My hubby and I met after we both drove alone for several years, and we drove team for several years till he had his stroke.

I was a LE dispatcher, married to an LE officer for many years. I saw the underbelly of society with both jobs. But I mostly felt fulfilled with my job and my kids. My heart was broken several times along the way, but I soldiered on and got over it. My kids have made me proud, and I am still standing after all these years. I still have my sense of humor, and my family loves me, so I guess that is all I can ask. I mostly quit asking Why, me. I just accept for the most part, and keep putting one foot in front of the other.

I am thankful and happy to be here on Scared Monkeys. I cherish the friendships I have found, and I really want to advocate for children to keep them safe from predators and murderers.

Pretty much that sums me up..... an angelic monkey

It is Friday and I always make pizza on Fridays as all the kids drop by.  I start the dough around one and make 2 big pans (two large cookie sheets) .

Fanny your yard is beautiful.  You can see the work that went into it and even more you can see the love and pride that you have for it.

Sorry guys, I am in funk today and don't know why.  I think it is because I thought it was only Thursday and want the day I lost this week back!
