Here's the guy I was talking about earlier who is homeless.Tennessee.

After losing homes, families move into tents

By Jennifer Brooks • and Shelley Mays • July 12, 2009
It's a sweltering summer afternoon, and the children are hot and miserable in the tent that's been their home since they lost their house last month.

"You feel about as small as you can as a man, trying to take care of your family and watching your children have to go through something like this," said Troy Renault, 39, a homebuilder and father of five boys who lost his job, then his home, when the recession hit the construction industry.

Home these days is a cluster of tents covered by a blue tarp in a back corner of the Timberline Campground in Lebanon. Surrounding them are the tents, campers and recreational vehicles of other families in similar straits, living full time in campgrounds because they can no longer afford to live anywhere else.

No one knows how many people are living in campgrounds in Middle Tennessee. But visit any area campground and it's easy to pick out the permanent residents among the vacationers.

Look for the decks built on to campers with scrap lumber, and gardens planted next to campfire pits. Look for the air-conditioning units hooked up to tents. Look for the children boarding school buses at the front gates, and parents closing up the camper before they head off to work.

The space between a comfortable life, a nice home and a good job and living out of a campground is closer than most people could imagine. Lose a job, fall suddenly ill or end a marriage, and quickly the bills and mortgage payments start piling up high enough to bury an entire family.

"You get to a point where it's: Do you pay your house payment and not have lights and water and everyone sit with no clean clothes and dirty dishes and everything? Or do you keep the lights and water on and forgo the house payment for the time being?" Renault said. "And that's the way it went, until pretty much we wound up having to leave our home."
Things like this aren't supposed to happen to people like the Renaults, who work hard, go to church, take care of one another and look after their neighbors.

I saw the interview of him on FOX.  He was saying that by the end of the year there could be over 1 million children homeless in the US.  That is so sad.  There are so many philanthropists in the US that are spending millions of dollars overseas to help children, Oprah and Bill Gates to name two.  I think that it may be time for them to look in their own backyard.

Cancellation of Fundraiser

Posted on 08. Jul, 2009 by smckinney in Calendar of Events, Featured Articles

Many people have worked very hard over the last couple of months to organize a fundraiser for Texas EquuSearch. It was going to be at “Lance’s Turtle Club” on Clear Lake. But due to economic struggles throughout our nation, the fundraiser has been CANCELLED. Several organizers worked many long, hard days in their efforts and we gratefully thank all of those who did so much.

Taliban threatens to kill captured US soldier
<snipped>
By AMIR SHAH, Associated Press Writer Amir Shah, Associated Press Writer   – 22 mins ago

KABUL – The Taliban threatened Thursday to kill a captured American soldier unless the U.S. military stops operations in two districts of southeastern Afghanistan.

The Taliban said last week they were holding the soldier, who the U.S. military earlier described as possibly being in enemy hands.

Abdullah Jalali, a spokesman for Taliban commander Mawlavi Sangin, told The Associated Press in a phone interview the soldier was healthy.

He said the soldier would be killed unless the U.S. stops airstrikes in Ghazni province's Giro district and Paktika province's Khoshamand district. Still, Jalali said the final decision about the soldier's fate will be made by Taliban leader Mullah Omar.
Trimm, I have a feeling he is already dead.  I say keep up the airstrikes and give em more.

I am like you JSM. I think he is already gone too.
We have already seen what these barbarians have done. I hope they keep up the airstrikes and git 'er done. I'm tired of bullies and haters in the world.

Good Morning Monkeys!  an angelic monkey

Northern Rose's Rib recipe does sound yummy! I've already copied it to a word doc and I'm trying the fried zucchinni tonight for dinner.

I don't think TRIMM would fit in with the new green czar. Hannity said in the piece that he was considered a communist.   Monkey Devil!

Fanny when you try the zucchini rather than putting them in a bag and shaking them, put the coating in a bowl and just press them in on each side.  You get more coating on each slice this way and you may like it better if you like cheese.

Ok, that sounds like a plan to me. Thanks!

Oprah and Bill Gates looking in their own backyard to help  I'll fall out of my computer chair if that would ever happen. There are many people that could help with problems in our own country. Not that I'm being critical of people helping others in different countries, but it is way past time to help our own people. But I guess that isn't cool.

Maybe the musicians could do some concerts to help the homeless people, sort of like the Farm Aid concerts. I could think of a lot of big mouth musicians that could perform instead of just complain. Oh that's right, nothing to complain about now, Bush is gone.

It's not cool or worth the publicity for Oprah to take care of people in our country.

JSM,these are a couple of posts I came across on a local forum here where I live.
Talking about Healthcare.
"Americans are getting what they deserve for voting in this motley crew of incompetents. Every person, with perhaps the exception of wealthy celebrities, who voted for Obama wants a handout of some sort."

The first memory I ever had of politics was standing in line with my parents when they voted for Dwight Eisenhower. There have been a lot of presidents since that time and only one other could compare to this bunch of criminals we have in office now and that was Carter. What an idiot he was and still is but I don't remember even Jimmy being such a wide open communist as what we have now.

Everyday when I turn on the TV I just pray that the White House (American Kremlin) hasn't thought up something new during the night that will destroy what we have left in this country. It is far past unbelivable what is taking place in the name of "Change". It should be called "Destroy" instead.

Here's something that isn't parody. I am 62 years old and drawing social security of a little over 900 dollars per month. I can't afford insurance right now because I am not able to work at any job that could provide it. Besides that there are very few employers that would even consider hiring someone my age if any jobs were available.

If I don't buy insurance will I have to pay a penalty to the government? I know that when I reach 65, if I do, I will get medicare but that's a long time off. Right now I pay my own way with cash when I have to go to the doctor. I don't ask anyone to pay anything for me.

I was wondering if anyone had a clue what will happen to people like me. I can't afford insurance and I can't afford to pay a penalty for not having it. After paying my utilities and buying groceries, car tags, car insurance etc. I don't have anything left.

If the government penalizes me for not having it I might as well crank the car and run a hose in the window and get out of this problem that is being caused by damn democrats.

Oprah and Bill Gates looking in their own backyard to help  I'll fall out of my computer chair if that would ever happen. There are many people that could help with problems in our own country. Not that I'm being critical of people helping others in different countries, but it is way past time to help our own people. But I guess that isn't cool.
It's not cool or worth the publicity for Oprah to take care of people in our country.

Exactly.
