Ours had an old lady hair salon upstairs. It was never updated from the time I was a kid until I started bowling. It still had gold shag carpeting and that raised velour wall paper.

When I was little, I would go with my grandmother when she would get a perm. Back then they had something that looked like a hairdryer hood, and it had wires with curlers on the end. I would sit there worrying she was going to be electricuted. She sure got a perm too. That sucker lasted for two years.
Suprised it didn't fry her hair off.  My mom always thought we needed a perm the day before school pictures. For what reason I don't know, but if I saw those pictures today I would burn them.  Monkey Devil!

Either that, or cut our bangs crooked up to our scalp. I don't have a single school picture that one of my kids don't ask me, "What happened to your hair???? Was that the style back then???"
We had perfectly straight bangs and then awful, awful tight curls all around our head. It was horrible. No it wasn't the style back then, I wanted to look like Cindy Brady, not Shirley Temple.

One time she was curling my hair under with the curling iron and I kept moving, she tapped me with the comb on the head. She burned my ear off with that curling iron.

Then when I was in Jr High I told my mom I wanted layers, so she took the sewing scissors and pulled up the top half of my hair and lopped it off.

She cried and cried and didn't take me to school until she got my hair cut correctly.

I love her, but won't let her anywhere near my head unless she is footing the bill to get it cut.  Monkey Devil!

I'm not falling for the "burning you ear off" thing. Last time it was some chicken in the zoo bit you finger off, and we found out it was you fingernail.

My daughter has beautiful naturally curly hair. She also wanted the Cindy Brady look. She would cry and cry in front of the mirror every morning trying to get the curls out. She went to school several times with one side straight, and the other curley when she ran out of time. I never knew how she explained that, but at least it wasn't something I did to her.
Did she have a flat iron or did she use a regular iron? I had board straight hair until I got older now I have horrible waves now in my hair. I'm getting ready to cut it off and wear a wig.  Monkey Devil!

I just can't think about cleaning a big contraption like the peta potty. I guess if you have a tiny dog. Now that Bubbles is all dressed and ready to go, he better not get stage struck    Do the Jackson family and their buddies not see how crazy this all is? Evidently Joe was at an Encino IHOP for breakfast this morning laughing and having a good all time. I like IHOP, but Joe at an IHOP, you'd think he would want to eat somewhere fancy, he ain't paying for it
He was at IHOP.  Monkey Devil! I guess the Ants need to give him a lesson or two on how to eat crab cakes at the Ritz.

Cindy could cook him her famous chili, and George can take him bass fishing after.
Yummmmmmm Chili.  I want Chili, Quizno's isn't selling chili or any soup for the summer.

Wendy's???? Do you have a kitchen in your apartment?
Ohhh. Forgot about Wendy's. Yes I have a kitchen and even went to the grocery store today.  Monkey Devil!

An iron and ironing board was the weapon of choice during those days.

Monkey Devil!    My friend's step daughter kept wanting to wear a headband and finally she said no, it doesn't match your clothes. Turns out the little girl had cut her bangs all the way to the scalp and didn't want anyone to notice. Sad thing, her own mom never noticed it.

Hi JSM.  There has been talk about "Bubbles", so I was researching and posted an article in MJ thread.  Looks like Bubbles is still alive and living at a sanctuary.  I hope he has a good life.  It's probably more normal there for him.

Monkey Devil!
cutting hair is an art.  i don't have that talent and i have butchered my own head plenty of times....some have it, some don't..i DO NOT Monkey Devil!
Thank goodness for ponytail holders.  Monkey Devil!
for some reason i'd always start with the bangs...it would be to even them out and by the time i was done there would be None....had to use the 'wide' headband to cover it up
Monkey Devil!    My friend's step daughter kept wanting to wear a headband and finally she said no, it doesn't match your clothes. Turns out the little girl had cut her bangs all the way to the scalp and didn't want anyone to notice. Sad thing, her own mom never noticed it.
about once a year fro 12-18..had to have the head-band.  (guess i'm stubborn that way)

My Grandma's had big Texas Blue Hair!

I understand the big blue Texas hair. If you got to close it would poke your eye out!!!
I never could understand how they could go once a week to get it done?  It would still be the same the next morning, I guess that's why they slept in silky Martha Washington caps.
they had the scarfs and the silk pillow covers (my g-maw did anyway)...

I've seen some people wrap TP (toilet paper) around their hair in a pinch.
