Killed in action the week before, the body of Sergeant First Class John C. Beale was returned to Falcon Field in Peachtree City , Georgia , just south of Atlanta , on June 11, 2009 . The Henry County Police Department escorted the procession to the funeral home in McDonough , Georgia . A simple notice in local papers indicated the road route to be taken and the approximate time.  Nowadays one can be led to believe that America no longer respects honor and no longer honors sacrifice outside the military. Be it known that there are many places in this land where people still recognize the courage and impact of total self-sacrifice. The link below is a short travelogue of that day’s remarkable and painful journey. But only watch this if you wish to have some of your faith in people restored.

Awe some....not as in "oh, how cool" awesome, but as in "I am in awe"...both of the Sergeant First Class John C. Beale, who gave it all for us, but of the people who came to thank him. It's nice to know that we're not all so jaded, and that there are still those who are grateful. Thanks, JSM.

Now, to honor our soldiers, I'm off to buy more smokes!

Witt Gets Roll In 2018 Munich Olympic Bid

MUNICH - Two-time Olympic figure skating champion Katarina Witt will have a leading role in Munich's bid for the 2018 Winter Games.

The 43-year-old Witt was presented Thursday as the head of a 23-member board of trustees for the bid. The board also includes soccer legend Franz Beckenbauer, who brought the 2006 World Cup to Germany, and former Olympic skiing champion Rosi Mittermaier.

Other members include interior minister Wolfgang Schaeuble, foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, former chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and Richard von Weizsaecker, a former German president.

Witt, a former East German, won gold in Calgary in 1988 and in Sarajevo four years earlier.

Pyeongchang, South Korea, and Annecy, France, are also in the running for the 2018 Olympics. The International Olympic Committee will choose the host in 2011.

"I promise that we in the board of trustees will do everything so that the IOC can only say in 2011: 'The Games must go to Munich,'" Witt said.

Munich is aiming to become the first city to host both the summer and winter Olympics. The 1972 Summer Games were held there.

Awwwww Katarina Witt.  I love her, still don't know how she skated with those big uns.  I don't know what to think about the Olympics being in Munich, though. I see there is no mention on what happened at the 72 Olympics. Many sad memories from those games.

I'm sitting here thinking that what has happened over the past days has taken its toll with some of the monkeys, I hope I'm wrong. Maybe some are feeling they don't want to post, because it has become hard for some to trust, and they don't want to get hurt again. Hopefully all the bad ones have been weeded out, and we can continue to do what this forum was intended for, and also enjoy coming to JSM's blog and musings.

No Rose, I was just thinking the same as you. The person I am beginning not the trust is me. I don't trust my instincts anymore. I was SUCKERED and it bothers me to no end. I had hinky suspicions of some of the lies, but kept my mouth shut. I hope the bad seeds have been weeded out and we can have fun in here and get justice for Caylee, Lindsey, Natalee and all other missing people. JMO JSM

It gets me that our service people are told no smoking, it's not good for your health. But they send them off to war. That is definitely not good for their health. It's getting so ridiculous. Hey Green Eyes, it is a beautiful day except for the heat. I'm glad you liked the video, what amazed me is I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but it had to have been a long, long ride, because the sun was way up in the beginning and it was getting close to dark by the end. God Bless all who serve including the guy I have a crush on at work that will be deploying in October.

Smoking is BAD, I smoke, wish I could quit, but haven't tried. Too lazy I guess. BUT if a soldier on the front lines of battle wants to smoke a ciggie, I say smoke one in each hand if you must. Glad you stopped in and feel free to come here and clean my apartment. It really needs it.

I never spoke up about the "embellishments" b/c I thought I would be butting in where I didn't belong.  I read a lot and rarely post, so I thought I would be intruding on everyone's fun.  Not that I knew about her pregnancy being a joke, I had no idea till someone questioned the 12 and 13" lengths. Yes, I tend to not trust people....especially when they go overboard talking about how wealthy they are.  I grew up in south Florida surrounded by wealthy families who moved from the north-east, and I went to school with their kids. (my family is middle class, just happened to be zoned to go to the same school as the 'richies'---LOL) Even they didn't brag about all their luxuries like D**** always did.   Anyway, it really sucks she did that, and now people are really upset, so much it seems some aren't logging in to chat anymore!

JSM, thank you for that video.  I watched and cried.  That was so cool!  Have a great weekend and thanks for letting me read your ban thread.  I laugh everyday that I read here!

Movie trailer of a movie that probably won't make theaters in most cities. I don't think it is being shown here. I'm sure if you watch Fox News, you have seen it, but it is worth the watch of the trailer.

Thanks JSM I never heard of that movie before. I'm real curious about the comment on musings about people are looking into D and her part of the Adji case  I just figured she was no part of it at all, and just went there and took pictures.
