12 Year Old Girl Missing Since Friday
KTLA News

June 22, 2009

IRVINE- Police are asking the public's assistance in finding a missing 12 year old girl-- Clarissa Zahedtalab of Irvine.

Clarissa was reported missing shortly before 11:00 p.m. On Friday, June 19th. Family members tell police she left their home at around 6:00 p.m. that day without telling anyone where she was going.

According to Clarissa's family, she had left home without permission several times before and had always returned a few hours later. They became very worried when she didn't return later on Friday and alerted police.

Clarissa is described as being 12 years old, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing about 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black long sleeved shirt, blue jeans, grey sneakers, white/purple earring studs and carrying a white purse with a gold design on it.

The Zahedtalab family moved to Irvine about a month ago from Riverside. Clarissa has friends in Riverside and may frequent or possibly be around that area as well, say Irvine Police Lieutenant John Hare.

Though the Irvine Police department has followed up on several leads, none have led to Clarissa. They are asking anyone who may know anything about Clarissa's disappearance or whereabouts to call local law enforcement or the Irvine police at (949) 724-7000.

Tipsters may choose to remain anonymous.

This has to be her Myspace, the name is too unusual.  She last logged on to Myspace 6/17 and I bet she was using Myspace as a way of communicating with her friends in Riverside:

I'm hoping she's ok and simply ran off to be with the friends she missed in Riverside.  My only fear is that why hasn't a friends parent called?  She could have taken up with an older guy.  Let's hope not.

IRVINE – A 12-year-old girl who disappeared from her home Friday night has been spotted walking in a Riverside mall, authorities said.

Meanwhile, Irvine police continue to ask for the public's help in locating the girl, who was reported to have left home around 6 p.m. Friday without telling family members where she was going.

Clarissa Zahedtalab, described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, was reported missing just before 11 p.m. Family members told police she had sneaked out several times in the past, but returned home within a few hours.

Today, Lt. John Hare said investigators were following a tip from a witness who saw Zahedtalab walking in the Galleria at Tyler in Riverside last weekend, a mall just off the 91 freeway.

Zahedtalab was reported to have friends in the Riverside area. She was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, gray sneakers, white and purple earring studs and a white purse with a gold design.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Irvine Police Department at 949-724-7000.

There has been no further updates, Edward. You would think if she was in a mall, there would be video...somewhere.

What a relief Clarissa has been found safe.  Too many times we end up having to move threads/cases to the other thread, and it's sad, sad, sad to have to do that.  Even though it looks like she left home on her own accord and was found safe with friends, I shudder to think if she had been picked up or lured away to people that weren't really friends.
