I'm totally pizzed now that Fl. taxpayers are going to be footing the bill for Casey's defense. She has all these prominent lawyers on her team and we now have to pay for that??? I'm seeing red right now. Is this standard procedure to have all these types of specialty lawyers for your defense at the taxpayers expense? Anyone know?

Is there an article stating Florida is picking up the legal fees for Casey?  If so that has changed dramatically.  Remember there was a motion by the prosecution to find out how Baez and friends were being paid..that ended in the judges chambers.  Stan seemed okay with how they are being paid..at that time they were asserting it was through Casey , etc.  Meaning she gave Baez a retainer and probably has made money through the selling of pics of herself and Caylee..or at least the A's have.
Gypsy I believe it is based around speculation of the cost of the defense being close to $2mil.  The news has stated that she could claim indigent status and then be assigned a public defender.  I have not seen anything other than the cost of the SE which is also very high.  I could be wrong.

I just re-watched the Today Show video and Kerry Sanders says that a source close to the family says she may file for indigent status which means most of her defense costs would be picked up by Fl. taxpayers.

And yes it was speculated that the cost to the state would be 1.5 mil to try the case and if there is a change of venue it would most likely be 2 mil. It may also run the defense the same amount as well.

For some reason the link that plays the video on this itself does not play all the way through. I had to go to the first hour of today and this segment starts at 22:35.   http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891/vp/18424808#31921616

Thanks Tupelo.  I don't think Casey will file indigent status.  I don't think she will take a public defender.  I think she has more money now then she did one year ago...through pics of herself and Caylee.  I also believe it is possible someone has given her a very large deposit to tell them her life story or books and movie rights.

But that is just my opinion of how she operates.  I believe she picked Baez long ago and not from the jail house wall or other inmates.  She isn't about to give the dream team up now.

I don't think she will have to give up her defense team even if she does file indigent status, if they agree to stay with her. Baez can't try the murder case but we all know that Lyon is in this for her own personal gain.

In the Today Show segment it is also stated that if she does file for indigent status, the court will tell her defense team that any large bills incurred, will not be paid by the state. From what I have read about what these lawyers do get paid by the state to defend an indigent client, it's next to nothing. However I can see her defense team doing it just for notoriety.

Who could be the family source?

July 15, 2009

One year ago, "Day One" took on the meaning of "Day 31."

One year ago, Caylee Marie Anthony had already been dead for a month.  And no one had reported her missing.

One year ago, it had been a month since Caylee's mother, Casey Anthony, had left the home of her parents.  No one ever saw Caylee alive again.

One year ago, Shirley Plesea was worried sick about her daughter, Cindy Anthony, who was Casey's mother and Caylee's grandmother.  It had been a month since Cindy had seen Casey or Caylee.

One year ago, Casey Anthony was telling everyone that her daughter Caylee was having a great time at the beach, at Universal, at Sea World, at Disney, with the nanny.

One year ago Casey's father George Anthony picked up a certified letter at the Post Office.

One year ago, he read in that letter that his daughter's Pontiac had been towed to a wrecker yard two weeks before.

One year ago, Cindy Anthony had to leave work to come and help George reclaim the car.

One year ago, the Pontiac's trunk was opened for the first time after having been abandoned on June 30 and flies flew out.

One year ago, George drove home a car that reeked of the decomposition of his granddaughter's body.

One year ago, Cindy threw into the washer some pants of her daughter's that had been in the smelly car.

One year ago, Cindy returned to her job and texted her daughter:  "Call me ASAP.  Major prob."

One year ago, Casey Anthony was driving her friend Amy Huizenga's car for the last day.

One year ago, Casey drove to a Bank of America, walked into the lobby, and cashed a $250 forged check she had stolen from Amy's checkbook.

One year ago, Casey attempted to pay a huge cell phone bill using Amy's account, but the attempt failed; she had already cleaned out the account.

One year ago, Casey Anthony stopped in at her favorite Tattoo shop to make an appointment she would never get to keep.

One year ago Amy and her friends returned from their vacation to Puerto Rico, and were met at the airport by Casey.

One year ago, Cindy dialed Amy Huizenga's number, looking for Casey.  Amy led her to Casey, who was at the apartment of her boyfriend, Tony Lazzaro.

One year ago, Cindy lied to Amy, telling her that she and her husband had made a tentative report to the police regarding the abandoned car with the terrible death stench.

One year ago, Casey was trying to find a new car to drive.  But before she could do so, her mother located her and dragged her home.

One year ago, George instructed his son, Lee, to go to the family home due to the trouble that was brewing.

One year ago, Casey told her brother that maybe she was a "spiteful bitch" and maybe her mom was right about her being "an unfit mother."  She admitted to him that Caylee had been missing for 31 days.

One year ago, Cindy overheard this admission and rushed into the room, crying out to her daughter Casey, "What have you done?"

One year ago, Cindy called 911 in tears, stating that her granddaughter had been kidnapped by a babysitter, and that "it smells like there's been a dead body in the damn car!"

One year ago, Amy checked her bank balance, only to learn that a girl she thought of as her best friend had utterly cleaned her out -- and that her friend's child had been missing for a month.

One year ago, it was three months before Caylee's mother Casey would be indicted and arrested for Caylee's murder.

One year ago, it was five months before Caylee's remains would be discovered in the woods down the street from her house by a meter reader.

One year ago, Yuri Melich and John Allen of the Orange County Sheriff's Office had never even heard of Caylee Marie Anthony.  Neither had the rest of Orlando or the rest of the world.

No one knows how long it will be until Caylee's killer will be convicted. But we will wait.

Justice for Caylee.

Desi,

Great synopsis!  Thank you..

Does anyone know if we ever found out what's the latest on the LE asking the court to go ahead with the check fraud trial on KC?

Hi Trimm! Good Afternoon Monkeys!!

Wouldn't you think that within a year, and one suspect, the trial would at least be underway? The wheels of Justice for Caylee need greasing, IMO!
[/quote]

Hi Monkeys. I haven't posted in Caylee's thread in quite a while, but I've read along when I have been able to. I too think those wheels need greasing. Justice takes so long!

We live close to walker county GA, missing Theresa Parker's home. We moved from there last year. She's been missing since March 07 and her husband was and is the only suspect. The pre trial hearings have just started this week. Trial is next month. It's been a very long wait.

Why does it take so much time? And why make special accomodations for casey's dp lawyer because she's teaching? That doesn't make any sense.

Good afternoon Monkeys and Guests.  an angelic monkey

Shopping day here for us so I am behind. It is a sad anniversary for Caylee today. It is hard to believe that it is already a year since we first knew about Caylee's little life. By the time we knew, it was already too late.

I am thankful for my friends here at Scared Monkeys or "Sacred Monkeys" as some of us call this place. I think it was Tevye or Boo that came up with the name. I am glad to be surrounded with people that really care about what happened to this little soul. I am thankful that we watch each others back, and stand up for each other like we have seen in the past week or so.

It saddens me greatly that the Anthony's life still goes on, bigger and better than ever, all at the murdering of their grandchild. Evidently the Anthony's are on another of their money grubbing trips, to rake in the money for their foundation. Maybe they are vacationing on Caylee's dime. But it certainly isn't coming from them doing a lick of work since this time last year. Words fail me. ...

Amy to Casey: It’s not. I must have put down the wrong address bc it came back there. I’m just having it sent to the boy’s house.

Cindy called Amy around 5:00 p.m. and said Casey was in a lot of trouble and Casey might go to jail if Cindy does not find her. Cindy picked up Amy at the mall and Amy directed her to Tone’s apartment. Amy learned of Casey’s stealing and lies on the drive to Tone’s. Amy also learned “that the house wasn’t happening”. It was approximately 8:00 p.m. Later Tone tried to text Casey when he heard her phone go off in his apartment, so he called Amy. Amy told Tone about Casey ripping her off. I was told by a friend, who knows a neighbor of the Anthonys, that Lee and Mallory were seen at the Ant's house this past weekend. She did not see George and Cindy's vehicles as the garage door was shut. Just thought I would pass that along as we were wondering where Lee has been lately.

I'm thinking that things must be relatively quiet in the A's life right now compared to how off-the-walls its been over the past year.  Wonder if they're enjoying the quiet or have become such drama junkies that this is the quiet before the storm?

Thanks, hard to believe those two are still together.

Wonder what it says about Mallory?

Hey CBB. You are so right .I'm ready for a trial.

Well, wouldn't it be wonderful if:  the people of Fl have to pay, therefore, "they' would have the "right to a speedy trial" and demand Ms. Lyons' teaching go by the wayside and the "people" get their money's worth!!

Anyone know?

tupleo...I am behind in catching up and just saw your post!  Are you serious? When was this announced? what a bitch for the taxpayers of FL. IIRC these experts will be paid by the state according to the state pay for experts. I would love to know what that is, wouldn't you!!  Sorry...Hello to all!

Desi, just based on what you posted, I would say she's guilty. How can anybody talk their way of that entire situation?  Good grief.

Hey CBB. You are so right .I'm ready for a trial.

Well, wouldn't it be wonderful if:  the people of Fl have to pay, therefore, "they' would have the "right to a speedy trial" and demand Ms. Lyons' teaching go by the wayside and the "people" get their money's worth!!

Yes it would.

Anyone know?

tupleo...I am behind in catching up and just saw your post!  Are you serious? When was this announced? what a bitch for the taxpayers of FL. IIRC these experts will be paid by the state according to the state pay for experts. I would love to know what that is, wouldn't you!!  Sorry...Hello to all!

I agree with you.  I didn't even know one could get top notch lawyers and still have the state pay for them.  I thought you had to get public defenders.  Not only do the citizens of Florida have a right to be mad about this, but just think.  All the state tax that Cindy has been paying since she lived down there will now go to her daughter's defense.  I wonder how she feels abou that!  Another Casey took money from her, huh in a backwards sort of way!

I was told by a friend, who knows a neighbor of the Anthonys, that Lee and Mallory were seen at the Ant's house this past weekend. She did not see George and Cindy's vehicles as the garage door was shut. Just thought I would pass that along as we were wondering where Lee has been lately.

thanks again tupelo.......it's too damn quiet and the A's and bozo are too damn quiet....something is up!!

I'm thinking that things must be relatively quiet in the A's life right now compared to how off-the-walls its been over the past year.  Wonder if they're enjoying the quiet or have become such drama junkies that this is the quiet before the storm?

I'm going for quiet before the storm.Happens every time.

Wrong. It was Caylee that lost everthing, including her life.

Every time I hear that video clip of the slore saying this, I want to rip her head off.....she took the life of her 2 year old daughter, Caylee Marie........Casey deserves NOTHING! They can't take enough away from her, IMO. She has life........Caylee's life was snuffed out by Casey!

I sooo agree!  I'm not usually a vindictive person but I really want that hag to suffer.  Actually, Florida could probably really fatten their rainy day fund if they held a lottery for the privilige of flipping the switch on her.
