I'm slow I guess.    That was an interesting article, gave a more personal side of who Lindsey is. IMO.

KaraK, thanks, I'm guessing by what you wrote that Lindsey was a little rebellious?   " simply because they are (especially Lindsey) very unique with their own character and personality and though it sometimes seemed dark that was just her expressing herself in her own way. It to us was like her cutting holes in the knees of all of her brand new jeans. "

Sorry I am having trouble posting it keeps bumping me. It would be fair to say she was a bit rebellious but only to an extent. She was over all a good girl who was trying to deal with family issues - and by that I mean her dad not being around. Her dad had been around full time until a few years ago and just within the last year I believe she found out that he was not coming back so she was working through it in her own way.

Kara, I use to live in a tiny little town, in fact, I have lived in several tiny little town.  Kids usually congregate somewhere or have favorite places to hang out.  Do you know where that might be?  a park, an arcade, a boys and girls type place, a skate area.  our town had a place called the ledge which was nothing more than a concrete emabankment retaining wall they would sit on and talk to each other. It was at the side of the grocery store.

if there is a local place to just hang out maybe someone would watch them there, then get to know their habits, somene who lived across the street etc.

what is the name of the school they went to?

are there any known weirdos around who the town thinks is creepy?  if so what street are they on?

any other places etc you can think of that I can try to check to see who is around

From the article no rose posted. (thank you btw)
Quote
One of Lindsey’s best friends, 11-year-old Christina Richards, said the two would hang out together at a local creek or the city park and muse about life.

“I asked her a question when I first met her about where she would go if she were to run away and I said I’d want to run away to the Bahamas. She didn’t want to.” Christina says Lindsey wanted to stay here.

Interesting article about Lindsey    http://**/articles/2009/07/01/local_news/doc4a4ba94721f78989072462.txt

Thanks for posting this article. It really gives good insight into the young girl. What stuck out to me was she worked the front counter of the dollar store. I wonder if anyone ever was seen talking with her, maybe giving her a little more interest then is normal?

Also, she loved to write and muse about life. Two myspace pages come to mind, the man Wesley something and then the woman, Michelle I think? Not saying they had anything to do with this, but maybe they had a conversation with lindsey recently?

I want to add the police are said to be looking high and low and doing everything they can to find this girl. That is not true if there is not an amber alert.

Thanks for the pic DD.  I have a question.  A family friend sent the brother home when he and Lindsey were fighting. Who is that family friend, do you know? And is it true, that Lindsey did not have anyone walk with her, not even part of the way? Thanks.

The girl’s route home would have taken her from her friend’s house in the 600 block of Maple Street, along the residential street with no sidewalks.

She would have walked down Maple and would have had to cross 3rd Street, which is a main road in the town and has a crosswalk. At that point she would have had a short walk through a a commercial area, including a nearby bus station and a gas station. She would have had to cross the larger street, then back onto a residential street without a sidewalk and head down to her house at the 300 block of Mommsen Street, a dead-end residential neighborhood within view of the police station.

But a minute or two before she crossed 3rd Street, she disappeared. A neighbor spotted her about two-thirds of the way home, Scott said.

The friend who last saw Lindsey also addressed the crowd. She said the girls asked if Lindsey could spend the night at her house, but when her parents said no, the girls parted.

“I saw her at the end of Maple (Street),” the girl said. “I always think if my mom and me would’ve done something different this wouldn’t have happened.”

who was hired to do the construction?  was it an out of town company?

was it local?  who was on the jobsite around the students?

There is an area behind the Simpson Mill that is wooded and has a creek that runs through it and a bunch of the local kids would go back there and hang out until I found out about it and Simpson was notified that they were going back there. My kids quit going but I am not sure about the other kids. I did let all of them know that if I heard about them being back there that I'd call the police immediately and I believe the majority of them, at least, quit going there.

It was an area that some people went to play in the creek but you could tell by the surroundings that some people simply went there to drink. So it was not somewhere we wanted them going.

The only other hang out that they had besides our houses and the library (occasionally) was the park which is right next door to the police station here.

As for creepy people there really was no one at all that the kids had ever mentioned nor that I saw and I honestly tried to keep an eye on people normally. If you've seen my daughter you know she's mixed and we've had people be rude to her over  it (never here though that and the statistics of the town are why we moved here) so we got pretty good at people watching.

We are all still really digging with all the local kids to see if they ever ran across someone that made them feel uncomfortable and have not gotten much.

Funny you would ask that it just popped into my head yesterday when we had to drive by the school. I've asked but I don't expect to get an answer on that unless they come across anything interesting. I will ask again though.

so she did go down maple and not up 6th.  so the dogs first trailed up the hill on 6th?  probably an old trail to the person's house she knew.  dogs will pick up older trails, but they always will pick up on the "freshest" scent to keep tracking.

so if lindsey did go all the way to the of maple and the girls parted there, then she did not make in in front of the businesses on 3rd street.  so she just poofed right there?  sounds that way.  she must have gotten in a car with someone? just guessing, but how else does she get to the end of maple ready to cross where 3rd is, and never crosses?

so the police know who was there in the area of 3rd at the time.  but who was at the end of maple?

Iwould definitely ask and keep asking, they were there since the first of the year working on the school.  they would have been there all the time possibly seeing and talking to students.
let me see if I can find out what company it was, after looking at all thost pics on the site it was a BIG company and probably ot local to a town of 1500

Hi Kara....
I think from the photos shown on here that it looks like you and Lindsey live in a very friendly looking,  quaint little town...a town that most would think would be safe...easy to be lulled into false security I am thinking....a town where everyone knows everyone else perhaps?
did you know before Lindsey went missing that there were sex offenders in your area? you can go online and look up the registered ones...but that doesn't take care of the unregistered ones or the other freaks who are out there roaming around looking for our kids...
no town anywhere is safe and it is really really troubling that our kids can't walk around in their town and be safe...sad sad sad...
How is your daughter holding up through all of this? does she have any ideas?
I am hoping that Lindsey will be found soon and safe! this has to be a living nightmare for all of you...

so if she went up 6th, instead of east on Maple, then she went down a lot of steets to not get on 3rd.  let me find out who lives on the other streets she would have went down if she went up 6th.  I also would not know if she went up 2nd or 1st once across the highway.

where did the other kids who were walking her partway, leave her ?  wouldn't they know if she went up that street or what?  or did they leave her before she got to 6th?

I did not know where to begin on Maple to get to 6th so I just started there at 6th

bumping this map so I can make sense out of the last few posts! Sorry directionally challenged and all

Lindsey was in Girl Scouts. She went to church at the Evergreen Christian Center in McCleary, an offshoot of a larger church in west Olympia. She sometimes worked the front counter at Baum’s store in Elma, a “dollar store.”

Year of Karma ~ 2009

« Reply #397 on: July 01, 2009, 05:43:01 PM »

Hi my Monkeys in Lindsey's Cage.
I have not posted in Lindsey's cage but have been reading the News on her case.
I just read the article posted about incite on Lindsey, her family and area.

I have seen to that there is a woman here " Kara" who is posting on Lindsey/family/area's behalf. Good to have you here Kara.

My brain keeps going back to the Myspace accts. I just looked at Kayla's myspace. She logged in as of today, she changed her age to 100. I did see her myspace the other day and I can see " believe it or not" that she has added more stuff to her page. One that was certainly not there the other day a survey " Ask me any Bedroom question"  then shows a cartoon of a man and woman in a romantic pose.
Isn't Kayla 10-12 yrs old..
My Daughter was a myspace nut when she was younger .. 14 and up. She is now grown out of it *almost 19 now- and hardly uses her myspace. Yet my ex's daughter who I claim my own - she just turned 15 and uses her myspace as if it were oxygen. (she does not live with me) She has in the past posted some very suggestive things/pictures/verbage and I have called her out on it. I have told her to "remove" that Now. And she does what I say. I have no clue if her Mom ever checks her page... from what I have seen " I do not think so"  One time when she was 14,  she actually posted her phone number on the myspace bulletin board. put her phone number up and typed I am really lonely .. only Boys can call me.
I about flipped my lid. I told her that Every Single friend you have on Myspace now has your phone number and Anyone who is a friend of theirs too has access of it .. if they see your bulletin. I said to her " you just sent your home phone number to every possible freak in the world" .. with Your cute little photo. Listed phone number that anyone could look up her address.  After you post a bulletin you cannot retract it.
These girls could be posting OUT side of their myspace page - by sending out these bulletins into myspace land .. and their parents would not be able to trace them " Unless the settings are set for "saving them" within their personal account".

All it takes is one Moody Moment of a Young Girl who is bored, Mad, frustrated or just lonely and is seeking attention ... to type something and send it off into cyberland.
Its like Fishing. The girl throws the Worm " Her cute Picture and Message" out then catches the Freak...who most turn out to be SO's Men posing as teens and or preteens - to latch on and gain their trust. To develop and online friendship.
My experience with Myspace: ( Not throwing judgment at Lindsey's Mom)
When my Daughter had her account she was 14.. I had her password. And our computer was in the Living room ..not tucked away into her bedroom. * It does not guarantee your childs safety... but there was no way in hell that that computer would be in her bedroom. Otherwise she would be on it all night and talking to god knows who.
I too would randomly pick on one of her friends and email them - and ask them Who are You? and not sign MOM..and I wait for them to respond. I would ask my Daughter who is this? If she didn't have a reasonable response I would delete them.  I knew most of her friends from her school. Or was a sibling of a friend ..the majority of her friends were all Girls. Which means nothing too .. anyone can use any photo.
These Girls do not understand the Power behind the Keyboard. They can't ..their kids.
I am praying for Lindsey.

OK, you guy's are going to think I've been on SM too long  But I'm just throwing this out there...

Could Lindsey Baum's disappearance be related to Amber Dubois disappearance?

Similarities:

1. Both girls on-line users
2. Both girls disappeared walking a familiar route, and then vanished
3. Amber's case maroon pick up thought to be outfitted for some kind of construction/Construction at Lindsey's school
4. Amber's cell phone last pinged heading north (location undisclosed) we have all speculated that the phone was on I-5

Maybe it's something, probably nothing...but you never know.

The LE isn't saying anything about an alternate route no do they mention 6th street.

It doesn't make sense that if she went up 6th street (this alternate route) and then the person seeing her at the end of Maple....almost to 3rd st.
