Thanks Pink Angel for the link to those pictures.  It does look like a sleepy safe little town.

Funny how no one's mentioned the bus station.  Why does a town of 1200 have a bus station?  Where does it run?  How often?

I live in a town of 60,000.  We have no bus terminal.  hmmmmm...

I lived in a small town in IL growing up and we had a bus station.

County-wide public bus service is provided by the Grays Harbor Transportation Authority. Bus lines commute through McCleary  several times daily to county cities for 50 cents (one zone) and connect with Olympia.

The station is really nothing more than a few benches and bulletin board with the schedule with a fancy roof over it.

Looking at the bus schedule.. the last bus through is at 8:35 pm (heading to Aberdeen) the last Olympia bound bus goes through at 8:25 pm.

Hey PinkAngel,I just read that bolded part(exact word for word)over on WS earlier today lol
Does anyone know if Kara took a poly test? And if not why not seeing as her boyfriend did?

It could be your popup blocker.  When I have a problem watching a video the first thing I do is turn off (temporarily) my popup blocker then try.  Also, it's possible you need to download the newest version of Java.

so they have basically quit searching for her hmmm ??? seems a bit quick to stop doesn't it?

I have the premise that someone got off of Route 8 for gas at the Shell station and saw her before the station and abducted her.

Crime of opportunity.

I don't think Lindsey is around McCleary at all.

The Shell station could still contain images of a SUV, truck or car used in the Abduction. (as it passed by leaving)

I believe the person lives with 120 miles of McCleary and has stopped here for gas before. I bet at the exit ramp there is a sign that says "Fuel next exit".

Sorry to say - but I don't think she is in a basement ... I could be wrong of-course, but I think Lindsey is not near the last known sighting.

The one reason I think that could be a possiblilty is because Lindsey's own dog was let off the leash to go look for her and couldn't find her IIRC. I think I remember someone saying that it was a german sheppard that she raised from a pup. Although they are not good tracking dogs, the dog would surely be able to pick up Lindsey's scent within a couple of blocks from her home. I understand from reading that the dog failed to do so. JMO

Missing girl's mother: 'Let her go'

02:38 PM PDT on Thursday, July 2, 2009

By DREW MIKKELSEN / KING 5 News

Courtesy Melissa Baum

A search is under way in the town of McCleary for 10-year-old Lindsey Baum.

McCLEARY, Wash. - If a stranger kidnapped 10-year-old Lindsey Baum, her mother says the girl would have put up a fight.

“She has very long fingernails,” said Melissa Baum. “Her brother is proof enough of that.”
Melissa Baum’s daughter vanished while walking home from a friend’s house in McCleary last Friday night.

Detectives said it’s possible the girl ran away, but after almost six days, they said it’s more likely she was abducted, perhaps by someone she knew.

Melissa Baum said she’s confident her daughter did not run away.

“She’s a mommy’s girl, she couldn’t be away from me that long,” said Melissa Baum.

Lindsey’s mother also said her daughter is too smart to be tricked by a stranger to get in their car.

“I joke that she’s 10 going on 16,” said Melissa Baum.

Melissa Baum said her daughter loves to read and write. She was working on a play.

Lindsey also loved animals. Melissa said Lindsey’s pet German Shepherd Cadence has been acting depressed since Lindsey vanished.

“That dog was her pillow,” said Melissa Baum.

Grays Harbor County scaled back volunteer search and rescue efforts Thursday.

“We’re not ending it, we’re just temporarily suspending it,” said Undersheriff Rick Scott.

Scott said most of Thursday’s work was conducted by detectives following up on tips and interviewing potential witnesses.

Lindsey Baum, 10, disappeared Friday from the small town of McCleary.

Melissa Baum said all she can do is wait by the phone for a call from police or Lindsey.

Lindsey’s mother believes her daughter is still alive, but said that is getting harder to do.

"I don't know if they're taking care of her or if they have her locked up somewhere," said Melissa Baum."They just need to let her go, let her come home."

Scott also is urging people to report any unusual behavior that might point to an abductor, such as suddenly cutting or dyeing hair, an unexplained absence from work or cuts or bruises on the arms and face.

Lindsey is 4-foot-9, 80 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, last seen wearing a light blue hooded pullover shirt and blue jeans.

Investigators say both Lindsey's mom and the father of the friend at the home where Lindsey had just left have both voluntarily taken - and passed - polygraph tests, and they are not considered suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call the hotline that has been set up. The number is 1-866-915-8299 or e-mail detectives at: soadmin@co.grays-harbor.wa.us .

Look at that smile! What a cutie!
I am praying for Lindsey. That she is found safe and soon.

This jumped out at me too. Does anyone know if the brother had fresh scratches on him??? Sorry to even ask the question.

I don't give her dog a lot of weight. imo

We have a German Sheppard my son's. He has raised him and trained him from a puppy. They go everywhere together, fishing, the bank.....lol
If I was to take him outside and let him off his leash and tell him to go find "daddy"....he'd probably just look at me funny and just run around and sniff the bushes.

If a dog isn't trained to track...

It's never been mentioned. KaraK may possibly know.

The only mention of scratches before now, is police telling people to look for people around them who may have cut or colored their hair, acting different, sold a car, have cut or scratches, etc...

Yup. My son went out of town for 2 weeks on vacation and his dog moped and didn't eat like he usually does. I wound up taking him to the vet thinking he was sick and the doctor said he was depressed and would probably feel better once Buddy returned.

The vet was right.
